Sat Jun 8 201317:09Doubront goes six innings in loss to Angels
Felix Doubront gave up three runs in six innings Saturday in a loss to the Angels.
Doubront fanned two and walked a pair in the loss. He allowed one run in the second inning and two more in the third, but managed to hold the Angels off the board the rest of the way. While it would be nice to see him be more efficient and work further into games, he has allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his last five starts. The southpaw will bring a 4.84 ERA into a start against the Orioles next week.

Sat Jun 1 201323:09Felix Doubront earns win over Yankees
Felix Doubront limited the Yankees to one run in six innings and struck out six in a victory Saturday.
Doubront was at 48 pitches after two innings, but the Yankees couldn't push across any of their five baserunners in those frames. Doubront settled down afterwards, throwing 55 pitches over his last four innings. He's walking too many batters to pitch deep into games and his fluctuating velocity is a cause for concern, but he's allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of nine starts on the season.

Tue May 21 201323:59Doubront takes loss despite quality start
Felix Doubront allowed two runs over six innings but took the loss Tuesday as the White Sox topped the Red Sox.
Doubront made one mistake that Jeff Keppinger deposited into the seats for a two-run homer, but the pitch was enough to saddle Doubront with the loss. He's now got a 5.61 ERA and 1.73 WHIP on the year despite a 3-2 record. He'll start again Sunday against the Indians.

Thu May 16 201323:11Felix Doubront strikes out seven Rays
Making his first start in 13 days, Felix Doubront pitched around six walks to allow two runs in five innings Thursday against the Rays.
Doubront struck out seven and allowed three hits. The Red Sox's concern with Doubront is the way his velocity has dropped while working from the stretch. That was still a problem tonight, but he was effective anyway. He should remain in the rotation next week.

Fri May 10 201316:48Doubront to start next Thursday vs. Rays
Felix Doubront will start next Thursday against the Rays.
The Red Sox have an off-day on Monday, which allows them to push back Doubront's return to the rotation. The 25-year-old southpaw has a 6.40 ERA and 35/16 K/BB ratio over 32 1/3 innings this season.

Wed May 8 201323:50Felix Doubront will go back into rotation
Felix Doubront will rejoin the Red Sox' rotation.
Allen Webster started in Doubront's place on Wednesday and was rocked for eight runs over just 1 2/3 frames. The lefty relieved him and didn't fare well, either, allowing six runs and 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings, but the Sox aren't ready to give up on him as a starter. Doubront could be pushed back, though, with Boston having an off day next Monday.

Tue May 7 201316:31Felix Doubront demoted to Red Sox bullpen
Felix Doubront has been demoted to the Boston bullpen.
Doubront had a brutal 5.67 ERA and 1.70 WHIP through his first five starts. Allen Webster is taking his spot in Boston's rotation for at least one turn. The Red Sox haven't decided what will happen after that.

Sat May 4 201308:45Doubront admits he's struggled with velocity
Felix Doubront confirmed to the Boston Globe the he's struggled with his velocity this season.
"You want a little bit more and it's not there," Doubront said. "Sometimes I don't have that power to get swing and misses and go in hard on hitters." Doubront is coming of a career-high 161 innings in 2012, but insists he's not dealing with a physical issue. He's been consistently throwing 88-89 mph this year and hasn't been effective with his secondary pitches. The Red Sox have Allen Webster waiting in the minors if he continues to struggle. Doubront has a 5.67 ERA in five starts.

Felix Doubront was knocked around for a season-high six runs in 3 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Rangers.
Doubront gave up a career-high 12 hits in the loss and showed diminished velocity. It was the first time he failed to complete five innings in a start this season. His ERA jumped from 4.24 to 5.67 with the clunker. He'll attempt to bounce back next week against the Twins.

Mon Apr 22 201323:06Felix Doubront strikes out eight in win
Felix Doubront earned a win after allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings against the A's on Monday.
Because of Sunday's doubleheader tiring out the bullpen, Doubront was allowed to start the seventh at 107 pitches tonight. It ended up working out, as Doubront retired two more batters on six pitches before coming out. Doubront allowed three hits, walked five and struck out eight in moving to 2-0.

Tue Apr 16 201323:23Felix Doubront whiffs seven
Felix Doubront struck out seven but lasted just five innings Tuesday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks in a 7-2 win over the Indians.
Working on 10 days' rest, Doubront had his swing-and-miss stuff working, but he was also a little wild. The southpaw has struck out 13 over his first 10 innings this season, but it's come along with a pedestrian 4.50 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. He'll have to exhibit better control in order to avoid being a strikeout-only guy in fantasy leagues.

Felix Doubront's turn will be skipped following Friday's rainout.
Doubront hasn't started since April 5, so his second outing will come nearly two weeks after his first. He'll next get the ball on Tuesday.

Doubront was originally scheduled to start Thursday's series finale against the Orioles, but now Alfredo Aceves will get the call as he fills in for John Lackey (bicep). The 25-year-old southpaw allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings last Friday in his season debut against the Blue Jays.

Fri Apr 5 201322:46Doubront fans six in no-decision vs. Jays
Felix Doubront had mediocre results in his season debut, allowing three runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings of work against the Blue Jays on Friday.
He racked up six strikeouts on the evening without walking a batter. Most of the damage came in the fifth inning where Mark DeRosa ripped a solo homer and Jose Reyes added an RBI double. He'll look for better results next time out when he takes on the Orioles in Boston on Thursday.

Sat Mar 30 201316:53Felix Doubront strikes out six in win
Felix Doubront struck out six in five scoreless innings in the Red Sox's 4-2 win over the Twins on Saturday.
After experiencing some shoulder soreness early in camp, Doubront rebounded to go 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA in five starts. Last year's terrific strikeout rate makes him an intriguing breakout candidate in 2013. Still, we don't see him as worthy of a spot in mixed-league rotations initially.

Fri Mar 15 201322:28Doubront pitches well in victory over Twins
Felix Doubront pitched extremely well in Friday's victory over the Twins, scattering two hits and a walk over four scoreless innings.
Doubront racked up four strikeouts along the way in the impressive outing. The young lefty has posted a 2.08 ERA and 11/4 K/BB ratio through 8 2/3 innings this spring, and offers significant upside in the later rounds of fantasy drafts with his ability to generate strikeouts.

Sat Mar 9 201322:09Felix Doubront a mixed bag on Saturday
Felix Doubront allowed two runs but struck out five in his three innings Saturday.
Doubront is a good bet to make the Red Sox rotation after making 29 starts in his rookie year. He won 11 games in 2012, but a 4.86 ERA and 1.45 WHIP take some shine off the 25-year-old lefty. If he can ever get the control issues figured out he'd be an enticing fantasy option for his stikeout ability -- Doubront fanned 167 in 161 innings last season.

Mon Mar 4 201317:09Felix Doubront goes 1 2/3 scoreless
Felix Doubront pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings against the Rays in his spring debut Monday.
Doubront allowed one hit, walked two and struck out two. He was set back by shoulder soreness early in camp, but he hasn't had any issues of late. We don't see Doubront as much more than a fifth starter in AL-only leagues.
