Gillaspie is hitting .250/.289/.556 this spring, but leads the competition for the White Sox opening day gig at third base. With Marcus Semien and Matt Davidson also as capable options, he'll need to hit in the early going if he wants to maintain his spot in the lineup.

Mon Mar 17 201409:31Conor Gillaspie 'tightening grip' on 3B job
Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Conor Gillaspie is "tightening his grip" on the White Sox' third base job.
Many assumed after the Sox traded for Matt Davidson that he would open the year as the starter at the hot corner, but he's batted just .192 this spring and looks like he needs a little more time at Triple-A. The left-handed swinging Gillaspie, who batted .245 with 13 homers and 40 RBI last season for the Pale Hose, could platoon at third base with Marcus Semien.

Mon Sep 9 201323:24Gillaspie collects a pair of doubles in win
Conor Gillaspie smacked a pair of doubles in Monday's victory over the Tigers.
He finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. To put Gillaspie's day in context, consider that he'd collected only two extra-base hits between August 12 and yesterday. The third baseman is batting .251 with 12 homers and 33 RBI. He's merely an AL-only player.

Fri Aug 23 201300:11Conor Gillaspie hits 11th homer in victory
Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-5 and hit a go-ahead homer in the top of the 12th as the White Sox beat the Royals 4-3 on Thursday.
The sweep in Kansas City means six straight wins for the White Sox and five straight losses for the Angels. Gillaspie's homer was his 11th, but he's hitting just .245 with 34 runs scored, 30 RBI and no steals in 327 at-bats. He could use a big finish to ensure that he remains in the White Sox's plans for 2014.

Fri May 31 201309:15Conor Gillaspie will still see playing time
White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Conor Gillaspie won't see much of a drop in playing time after Gordon Beckham (hand) is activated from the disabled list.
That means we're likely to see Jeff Keppinger on the bench more. It makes sense given that Gillaspie is batting .291/.351/.425 with three homers and Keppinger is sporting a hideous .223/.229/.263 mark with one longball. Gillaspie's production is likely to fade, but he's worth playing in deeper leagues while he's producing.

Wed May 8 201322:23Gillaspie drives in two in Sox win over Mets
Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-4 with a two-run double in the White Sox victory over the Mets on Wednesday.
The third baseman is now hitting .291 this season, and he was rewarded by batting cleanup in Wednesday's game. Gillaspie was mainly a reserve with the Giants, but he seems to have found a home starting at third base with the White Sox. Still, until he shows he can be a useful player over the course of a full season, we're inclined to pass on him outside of AL-only leagues.

He needs to be owned in AL-only formats.

Fri Apr 12 201321:34Conor Gillaspie has two hits in losing effort

On an evening where the White Sox could only muster five total hits against Justin Masterson, Gillaspie had good swings all night, going 2-for-3 with a double. He has a chance to earn everyday at-bats at third base in the absence of Gordon Beckham, and could be worth a look in deeper mixed leagues.

Thu Apr 11 201322:33Conor Gillaspie goes 2-for-4, doubles
Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-4 with a double Thursday against the Nationals.
The White Sox chose not to call up Carlos Martinez or Brent Morel in Gordon Beckham's place, so it looks like Gillaspie is in line for plenty of playing time at third base. That makes him worthy of a pickup in AL-only leagues.
