Fri Nov 26 201019:24Mariners likely to shop Aardsma?
Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times expects the Mariners to shop closer David Aardsma this winter.
Baker's reasons that the Mariners would put Aardsma on the trade block because he's likely to get $4-5 million in arbitration, they aren't expected to contend in 2011 and they have Brandon League and other young arms for the late innings. GM Jack Zduriencik has said the M's don't have much money to spend this offseason, so unloading their closer for some prospects to save some cash might be the way to go.

Fri Oct 1 201009:21Aardsma (oblique) likely done for season
David Aardsma (oblique) is likely done for the rest of the season.
Aardsma was scheduled to play catch Tuesday, however he felt continued discomfort in his left oblique. There hasn't been any word about his progress since then, so it looks like he could very well be done. The M's closer has a 3.44 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 35 saves this season. Brandon League will continue to fill in this weekend.

Mon Aug 30 201009:50Aardsma says bruised ribs no longer an issue
David Aardsma said Sunday that his bruised ribs are no longer an issue.
Aardsma was plunked by a line drive on the final play of a game nearly two weeks ago and struggled with soreness for a while after. The problem is that it hit right where the ribs connect to the muscle," he said. "It's one of those things that would take a little time. We gave it some time and it's good." The righty is back to closing games for the last-place Mariners.

Tue Aug 17 201021:13Aardsma unavailable Tuesday night
Mariners interim manager Daren Brown said that David Aardsma is unavailable to pitch Tuesday night.
Not a surprise. Aardsma threw 36 pitches and walked three in a blown save against the Orioles on Monday night. Brandon League would get the call in a save situation.

Tue Aug 10 201009:32Aardsma on fire in closer role for Mariners
David Aardsma has allowed just one earned run in his last 10 outings.
The Mariners closer is 5-for-5 on save opportunities over that span. Aardsma was shopped to multiple contenders at the deadline, but the M's stuck with him and he's a must-own down the stretch no matter how poorly things go in Seattle. The righty has a 4.34 ERA and 1.18 WHIP on the season.

Mon Jun 21 201012:57Aardsma 'already drawing a lot of interest'
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that Mariners closer David Aardsma is "already drawing a lot of interest."
The Mariners should be inclined to move the veteran closer well before the trade deadline, given that they're already 13 games out of first place in a talented AL West. A range of contending teams could use Aardsma, either in the ninth inning or as a setup man. In 24 appearances this season he has posted a 1.23 WHIP, a 22/8 K/B ratio and 15 saves.

Sat Jun 19 201020:40Aardsma may need time away for child birth
David Aardsma is likely to miss a few games early next week to be with his wife, who is pregnant and nearing labor.
The M's begin a nine-game road trip on Friday, so let's hope Aardsma's child arrives before then. Brandon League may be able to pick up some saves while he's gone. Chad Cordero, of course, is also an option.

Sat Jun 12 201001:22Mariners' Aardsma blows fourth save
David Aardsma blew his fourth save and took his fourth loss after giving up two runs in the ninth Friday against the Padres.
Aardsma's 18/8 K/BB ratio in 19 2/3 innings isn't too bad, and he's allowed just 18 hits. Still, his ERA stands at 5.95, as he just can't seem to pitch himself out of trouble once he lets someone reach base. In need of a shakeup, the Mariners might decide to replace him with Shawn Kelley if he continues to struggle.

Sat Apr 24 201019:06Aardsma coughs up game for ChiSox
David Aardsma took a blown save and a loss against the White Sox on Saturday afternoon, giving up three runs in the bottom of the ninth.
The Mariners had a 4-2 advantage entering the bottom of the ninth inning. Aardsma gave up a one-out solo home run to Paul Konerko to cut it to 4-3. He was able to retire A.J. Pierzynski on a flyout before walking Carlos Quentin. This set up Alex Rios for the walk-off two-run homer. The White Sox have defeated the Mariners on walk-off homers in consecutive days. As for Aardsma, he entered Saturday's action 6-for-6 in save opportunities with a flawless 0.00 ERA over his first six innings, so there isn't much to worry about here for fantasy owners.
