Robinson signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Monday. |
The Diamondbacks assigned him to Triple-A Reno, where he'll presumably spend all of the 2015 season. Robinson was once held in some regard as a prospect after hitting 26 homers as a 23-year-old at Triple-A in 2011, but his sky-high strikeout rate (32.6%) over his 319 career MLB plate appearances seems to have damaged his chances of becoming a regular player in the majors. |

He seems likely to receive an invitation to spring training. A former Dodgers draft pick, Robinson spent all of 2013 between Double- and Triple-A with the Orioles, batting just .247/.329./394 but hitting 11 homers and stealing 21 bases. He'll represent organizational depth. |

Tue Mar 19 2013 | 17:06 | Trayvon Robinson homers for Orioles |
Unfazed by some odd managerial shenanigans, Trayvon Robinson hit his second spring homer Tuesday against the Red Sox. |
Robinson and Nate McLouth alternated between left field and center field each inning today. Manager Buck Showalter said afterwards that it was because he wanted both to get used to playing the Green Monster at Fenway (the Red Sox's new spring training park has a Monster-like wall in left). Apparently just having Robinson and McLouth switch midway through the game would have been too easy. |

The move was made in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Todd Redmond, who was claimed off waivers. Robinson has a .215/.272/.330 batting line and a 104/22 K/BB ratio over his first 319 plate appearances in the majors. He's just 25 and has a pretty nice minor league track record, though, so he could receive interest from other clubs. |

He's unlikely to make a major impact in mixed leagues this season, but keep him in mind as a sleeper option for 2013. |

Sat Mar 17 2012 | 14:02 | Trayvon Robinson optioned to Triple-A Tacoma |
Mariners optioned OF Trayvon Robinson to Triple-A Tacoma. |
Acquired from the Dodgers in the Erik Bedard deal last July, Robinson is considered ''toolsy'' with projectable power and good speed, and was reportedly ''in the mix'' for playing time in left field. It's not unrealistic to think he could reappear in the majors by midseason. The Mariners also reassigned left-handers Sean Henn and Oliver Perez, and right-handers Matt Fox, Aaron Heilman, Josh Kinney and Jeff Marquez. |

Trayvon Robinson took care of business in Tuesday's doubleheader against the Indians, finishing 6-for-10 with two runs and three RBI. |
Oh, and he did all his damage while batting ninth. Robinson put up terrific numbers in the minors and is a solid bet to make contributions at the major league level. He's now hit safely in eight of his last 10 games, batting 15-for-38 (.395) during this stretch. |
