Sun Jul 14 201308:56Randall Delgado could stick around in relief
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Saturday that Randall Delgado could remain with the team as a reliever after Brandon McCarthy and Trevor Cahill return from the disabled list.
If McCarthy's coming back, somebody's coming out of the rotation," Gibson said. "So is that person going to Triple-A or is he going to the bullpen? If you deserve to be here, you're going to be here, when it comes down to it." Delgado has posted a 3.65 ERA and 30/5 K/BB ratio over 37 frames as a starter with the D'Backs, so he certainly deserves to stick around.

Thu Jul 4 201300:27Delgado goes seven strong, D'Backs beat Mets
Randall Delgado held the Mets to two runs in seven innings Wednesday in the Diamondbacks' 5-3 victory.
Delgado struck out nine batters and did not issue a walk in yet another decent outing. His only real blemishes were the solo home runs that he allowed to David Wright and Josh Satin in the bottom of the fourth inning. Delgado has a 3.67 ERA and 25/4 K/BB ratio in 27 total frames this season. He'll be put to the test next week when he faces the Dodgers at home.

Fri Jun 28 201322:53Delgado pitches well in loss to Braves
Randall Delgado pitched well in a losing effort against the Braves on Friday, allowing two runs on eight hits over six innings.
Delgado fanned three, but also struggled with his command, issuing three walks and needing 106 pitches to get through six frames. He'll carry a 4.05 ERA and 16/4 K/BB ratio into Wednesday's start against the Mets in New York, where he'll again aim for his first victory on the season.

Sun Jun 23 201321:17Delgado allows three runs in second start
Randall Delgado gave up three runs on six hits over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Reds.
Delgado was called up last week to replace Tyler Skaggs and has looked good in two spot starts. He only allowed one walk and had four strikeouts, but didn't receive any run support and was charged with the loss. Delgado should remain in the Diamondbacks' rotation until Brandon McCarthy returns from the DL.

Fri Jun 21 201318:12Randall Delgado to start Sunday vs. Reds
Randall Delgado will start Sunday against the Reds.
Delgado gets another crack in the rotation after he allowed two runs in seven innings and struck out six Tuesday in a no-decision against the Marlins. The Reds are obviously a much tougher matchup, so he's more of an NL-only play.

Wed Jun 19 201300:36Randall Delgado strikes out six Marlins
Randall Delgado yielded two runs in seven innings and struck out six Tuesday in a no-decision against the Marlins.
Delgado, who lost out on a rotation spot to Patrick Corbin this spring, was making his first start as a member of the Diamondbacks. He figures to get at least one more next week before a decision is made on his status. Since he won't be facing the Marlins again then (he could get the Reds on Sunday or the Nationals in the middle of the week), he won't be as good of a play in NL-only leagues.

Mon Mar 18 201319:10Delgado goes five innings in win over Dodgers
Randall Delgado bolstered his case for the fifth spot in Arizona's rotation on Monday by allowing two runs over five innings in a 5-3 win over the Dodgers.
Delgado kept the Dodgers off the board until a two-run single by Carl Crawford with one out in the bottom of the fifth. The young right-hander gave up six hits and a walk while notching three strikeouts. Tyler Skaggs was optioned to the minors on Monday, so the battle for the final rotation spot is down to Delgado and Patrick Corbin.

Mon Feb 25 201318:06Delgado gives up five runs in one inning
Randall Delgado was knocked around for five runs (four earned) over just one inning of work Monday against the Royals.
Delgado gave up six hits, including five singles and a double. He didn't walk any batters and failed to record a strikeout. Acquired as part of the big Justin Upton deal, Delgado will need to do better than this in order to hold off Patrick Corbin and Tyler Skaggs for the fifth spot in Arizona's rotation.

Thu Jan 24 201313:21Snakes land Delgado in Justin Upton deal
Diamondbacks acquired RHP Randall Delgado from the Braves in the seven-player Justin Upton trade.
Delgado, a 22-year-old from Panama, has posted a cool 3.95 ERA in 127 2/3 career major league innings. He's projected to eventually develop into a front-line starter, and his arsenal of pitches that sink and fade should fit well at Chase Field. He'll be in the running for the Diamondbacks' final rotation spot this spring.

Mon Jul 23 201214:50Delgado indeed being moved in Dempster trade
ESPN's Keith Law reports that Randall Delgado will indeed be sent to the Cubs in the Ryan Dempster trade.
And the Braves will get cash from Chicago to even things out. Delgado has posted an underwhelming 4.42 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 91 2/3 major league innings this season, but he's only 22 years old and carries the ceiling of a front-end starter. It's a nice get for Cubs president Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer given that Dempster is a 35-year-old impending free agent.

Sun Jul 22 201216:13Braves option Delgado back to Triple-A
Braves optioned RHP Randall Delgado to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Delgado pitched well in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing just two runs on six hits in a no-decision against the Nationals. Ben Sheets has taken his spot in the rotation, but Delgado has enough talent and has displayed enough promise to get another opportunity soon. He'll be the first option called upon when the Braves need another starter.

Sat Jul 14 201220:16Braves will send Delgado to Triple-A
The Braves plan on sending Randall Delgado to Triple-A Gwinnett to make room for Sunday starter Ben Sheets.
The decision came down to Delgado and Mike Minor, and it looks like Delgado has become the odd man out. He's just 4-9 on the season with a 4.52 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 16 starts but is likely to be recalled for Saturday's doubleheader.

Wed Jul 4 201222:45Randall Delgado goes six innings in loss
Randall Delgado was quality in Wednesday's Fourth of July loss to the Cubs, allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings of work.
Delgado struck out five and walked two in falling to 4-9. His biggest mistake came in the fourth, where he served up a solo home run to Bryan LaHair. Delgado has been fairly shaky on a start-to-start basis this season, but has been quality in three of his past six outings. He's tentatively set to face the Mets at home in his first post-ASB start.
