Fri Aug 27 202101:26Juan Soto Reaches Three Times, Blasts Homer
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto blasted his 23rd homer of the season Thursday night, launching a two-run shot off Miami Marlins starting pitcher Elieser Hernandez. He was 1-for-3 in the game with two walks and two runs scored. Soto has now reached base at least three times in nine games this month. His OBP for August is .529, and when he's given the opportunity to drive the ball as well, he's an unstoppable fantasy force.

Thu Aug 26 202114:30Juan Soto Maintaining A .524 On-Base Percentage In August
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto has been drawing walks at an extremely high rate in August. He has 26 walks over 20 games this month, with 16 strikeouts over that same stretch. His high walk rate has led to a .524 on-base percentage in August. While his plate discipline is certainly elite, the high walk rate is also due to his lack of support in the Nationals lineup. The 22-year-old Soto got off to a slow start to the year, but he's been one of the most productive hitters in the majors over the past two-to-three months. Over 114 games on the year, he's slashing .300/.442/.503 with 20 home runs, six stolen bases, 67 RBI and 82 runs.

Thu Aug 19 202110:51Juan Soto Hits 20th Homer
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto had a huge game Wednesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays, going 1-for-2 with a home run, three walks, three RBI, and two runs scored. It's his 20th home run of the season. Soto is slashing an absurd .367/.540/.733 over his last 30 games with nine homers, 24 RBI, 25 runs, and a whopping 34 walks in that span. He's seeing less pitches to hit than ever, but he simply doesn't miss and is a fantasy cheat code at this point.

Wed Aug 18 202101:14Juan Soto Reaches Three Times, Scores Twice
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto remains an on-base machine, reaching base safely three more times in Tuesday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Soto went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, a hit-by-pitch, and two runs scored. Soto has an outrageous .536 OBP over his last 30 games, and there's very little cause to think that will slow down going forward, as opponents have begun to recognize that there's no reason they should pitch to Soto with such a depleted lineup around him. His power numbers may take a bit of a hit, but he'll continue to contribute for fantasy managers by getting on base and scoring runs.

Sat Aug 14 202112:37Juan Soto Reaches Three Times, Drives In A Run
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto was once again the lone offensive force for the team Friday, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and an RBI against the Atlanta Braves. Soto now has posted a .947 OPS with 19 homers, six steals, 74 runs, and 62 RBI on the year. While his fantasy value does take a slight hit with a depleted lineup around him, he's one of the most disciplined hitters in the majors and will continue to pad his own stats even without any lineup protection.

Thu Aug 12 202119:43Juan Soto Walks Five Times In Doubleheader
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto drew five walks in seven plate appearances in Thursday's doubleheader against the New York Mets. Following the trade deadline fire-sale, there simply isn't much punch left in the Washington offense, giving teams the option to pitch around Soto in favor of other options. This'll keep his already-excellent on-base percentage high, but it'll limit his opportunity to contribute in other fantasy categories. He now has a .301/.436/.507 slash line for the year.

Thu Aug 12 202112:24Juan Soto Homers, Reaches Four Times
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto went 3-for-4 with a home run and a walk against the New York Mets in Tuesday's suspended game which was completed Wednesday. His three-run home run came off of Carlos Carrasco in the first inning on Tuesday, and was his 19th homer of the year. Soto has been so superlative this season that even that total feels underwhelming. He has a .941 OPS with 74 runs scored and 61 RBI on the season, and has a chance to be the number one fantasy asset for the rest of the year.

Sun Aug 8 202101:08Juan Soto Pinch-Hits Saturday
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto (knee) entered Saturday's game as a pinch-hitter, and he stayed in to run the bases after drawing a walk in the sixth inning. Soto was expected to be back in the lineup Saturday, but the pinch-hit appearance and subsequent turn on the bases should assuage any fears that his knee issue will linger for the rest of the year. Washington has every reason to be cautious with Soto after he felt a tweak Thursday, but it appears that he has a chance to return to the lineup in short order.

Sat Aug 7 202118:01Juan Soto Remains Out Of Saturday's Lineup
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto (knee) remains out of the lineup on Saturday. Soto reported feeling pain in his knee after scoring in Thursday's game, and was then held out of Friday's lineup. Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post reports that Soto underwent an MRI on his knee on Saturday morning and the results came back negative. He did some agility drills in the outfield on Saturday, but he remains day-to-day with the knee issue. Managers should keep an eye out for updates on his condition on Sunday.

Sat Aug 7 202108:36Juan Soto Expected To Be In Saturday’s Lineup
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto (knee) is expected to be in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves. He took batting practice during Friday's game and would have been able to pinch-hit. The Nationals outfielder tweaked his knee in the ninth inning of Thursday's game. Soto is slashing .298/.427/.500 with 18 home runs, 58 RBI, 73 runs scored, and six stolen bases across 422 plate appearances in 2021. Fantasy managers should check back on Saturday to ensure Soto is in the lineup before activating him. If Soto is unable to suit up, look for Gerardo Parra to handle right field duties on Saturday.

Fri Aug 6 202117:32Juan Soto Out Of Lineup On Friday Evening
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto (knee) is not in the starting lineup on Friday evening. Soto reportedly felt "something in his knee" after scoring in the ninth inning of Thursday night's game, and he was being tested before the game Friday but apparently he did not feel well enough to play. Managers should continue to consider him day-to-day for now, and keep a close eye out for updates on his condition through the weekend. With Soto out, Gerardo Parra is getting the start in right field and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Thu Aug 5 202120:52Juan Soto Dealing With Knee Pain
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto (knee) experienced pain in his knee after scoring in the ninth during Thursday's 7-6 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. He "felt something in his knee" and will be evaluated on Friday, per Nationals manager Dave Martinez. The 22-year-old went 2-for-4 with a double, two walks, and three runs scored during Thursday's loss. Soto didn't exit the game, as the injury happened during the ninth inning. The severity of his injury is unknown at this time, and he's considered day-to-day. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation as the Nationals will provide an update on Friday for Soto's potential injury. Stay tuned.

Fri Jul 30 202101:12Juan Soto Adds Three Hits In Nightcap Thursday
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto went 3-for-5 with three singles and two runs scored in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies. He was also caught stealing. He's been successful in just six of 12 attempts this season. Soto remains wildly effective at the plate as usual, but his fantasy value is bound to dip slightly with so many of his teammates around him being traded. Still, his power and plate discipline will keep him as a top fantasy asset, though he could stand to pick his spots a bit better on the basepaths.

Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto continued his post-break surge Tuesday, going 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored against the Philadelphia Phillies. He's making a case to be recognized as the best hitter in the majors, and fantasy managers can just sit back and watch as he carries fantasy teams up the standings.

Mon Jul 26 202103:53Surprising Mariners keep winning the close ones
The Seattle Mariners have worked their way into the postseason race — one run at a time. The Mariners improved to 23-8 in one-run games, and that remarkable record has them just 1 1/2 games behind Oakland for the second wild card in the American League. Seattle has been outscored by 52 runs on the season, but the Mariners are eight games over .500. This last series against the Athletics was a microcosm of Seattle's season. The Mariners lost 4-1 in the opener before taking three straight one-run games. Although there are still reasons to doubt that Seattle will be in the playoffs in the end, there is understandable excitement surrounding this team. The Mariners haven't made the postseason since 2001 — the longest drought in baseball. The Miami Marlins ended what was the second-longest absence during last year's shortened season. They qualified for the first time since 2003 Seattle is seven games behind first-place Houston, and the Mariners have a chance to cut into that gap during a three-game... [More]
