Mon Oct 7 201323:49Brandan Wright shoots 7-of-8 in loss
Brandan Wright was efficient in Monday's loss to the Pelicans, making 7-of-8 from the field for 14 points with three rebounds in 19 minutes.
He's been turning heads among his teammates and coaches, but the 26-year-old big man is still going to come off the bench for the Mavs. Wright provides nice upside with blocks and he added a little more to his offensive arsenal this offseason, so he could be one of the best second-unit bigs in fantasy this season.

Fri Oct 4 201314:01Brandan Wright weighs in at 240 at camp
Brandan Wright weighed in at 240 pounds for training camp.
"I'm faster, bigger and stronger. I think the biggest change is I've seen is stamina-wise and I can move laterally better," Wright said. He's also added more depth to his jumpshot and apparently has done all the right things in the offseason. Even though he could come off the bench, he has a nice opportunity to put up enough stats to warrant consideration at the end of standard drafts.

Fri Jul 26 201315:16Brandan Wright expects Sam Dalembert to start
Brandan Wright said he expects to come off the bench for the Mavericks this season.
It's a little disappointing that Wright would concede the starting job to Sam Dalembert without even putting up a fight. Wright got the bigger contract (two years, $10M vs. two years, $7.5M) and is ascending at age 25 while the 32-year-old Dalembert is declining. Regardless, we'd expect this to eventually evolve into a pretty even timeshare. Wright can also play power forward, giving him a decent shot at 26-28 minutes even in a reserve role.

Thu Jul 18 201311:21Mavs on the brink of signing Brandan Wright
Mark Cuban said that negotiations with Brandan Wright are going well, and he spoke about him as though he were already under contract.
While discussing the Mavericks' prospects for next season, Cuban said, "We can block shots between Sam [Dalembert] and Brandan [Wright]." It was previously reported that B-Wright was a 'virtual certainty' to re-sign in Dallas, so this comes as no surprise. Although slated for a backup role, Wright has enough per-minute upside to average around 10 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks off the bench.

Sat Jul 13 201309:06Report: B-Wright to DAL a 'virtual certainty'
It is a "virtual certainty" that the Mavericks will re-sign Brandan Wright, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
The two sides are still working on a deal which could be worth $4 million per season. Assuming he does stay in Dallas, Wright could have an easy path to playing time if Bernard James remains the only competition for minutes at center.

Wed Jul 10 201318:16Brandan Wright likely to re-sign with Mavs
Brandan Wright appears likely to re-sign with the Mavericks.
Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears reported the two sides were in "serious discussions" Wednesday. Wright also sent a text message to ESPN Dallas' Tim MacMahon calling the Mavs the "clear-cut leader." Wright also told MacMahon he expects a deal with the Mavs to happen "sooner or later." If Dallas signs Wright as expected, they may move on from re-signing Elton Brand, who's drawn interest from the Knicks.

Wed Jul 10 201315:56Mavs GM Nelson still talking to Wright, Brand
GM Donnie Nelson says the Mavs are still talking to Brandan Wright and Elton Brand about returning to Dallas.
Both players are unrestricted free agents, although Wright is clearly the better upside play at just 25 years old. The Knicks were reportedly chasing after Brand, but they're limited finances make them a bit of a longshot for him. Neither player will land a big-money deal, but both could make for solid backup PFs next season.

Mon Jul 1 201310:09Several teams interested in Brandan Wright
The Mavericks, Hawks, Magic, Pistons, Raptors and Knicks all expressed interest in Brandan Wright early Monday morning.
He's an unrestricted free agent and turned in his best year last season, averaging career-highs 8.5 points and 4.1 boards. Wright is 25 years old and his athleticism makes him a nice backup power forward for just about every team that has interest in acquiring him.

Wed Jun 19 201314:21Early Bird rights could help Mavs keep Wright
Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas says the Mavericks could have a leg up in re-signing Brandan Wright because of the team's Early Bird rights.
The 25-year-old Wright finished the season on a strong note and McMahon speculates the former lottery pick could end up with offers similar to Ian Mahinmi's four-year, $16 million deal with the Pacers last summer. McMahon points out the Mavs could meet or exceed those numbers and go past the salary cap because they own Wright's Early Bird rights. Both Wright and the Mavs have expressed interest in Wright's return to Dallas, but such an arrangement would mean Wright would likely have to wait at least a few weeks into free agency for Dallas to at least attempt to land bigger fish. It might be difficult for Wright to turn down immediate money in the hopes of a similar payday from the Mavs down the line.

Fri May 3 201316:41Mavs want FA Brandan Wright back
The Mavericks want to re-sign impending free agent Brandan Wright.
Wright showed some serious improvement while with the Mavs for the last two seasons. A valuable reserve in 2012-13, he averaged 8.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in just 18.0 minutes per night. Still just 25 years old and measuring in a 6-foot-10, Wright is going to attract real interest on the open market. The Mavs won't be able to hold him at arm's length while pursuing Dwight Howard and other top-flight free agents.

Sun Apr 14 201320:40Brandan Wright's 16 points propel Mavericks
Brandan Wright racked up 16 points off the bench vs. New Orleans, making 8-of-13 FGs with four rebounds and one block in 24 minutes.
B-Wright is at the tail end of a two-year deal worth the league minimum, but his play this season ensures that he'll earn a bigger payday as a free agent. It remains to be seen if he'll re-sign with the Mavs, but his numbers are worth remembering -- 8.4 points on 60.2 percent shooting, 4.1 rebounds, 0.4 steals and 1.2 blocks in a mere 18 minutes per game. Double those averages and you have some impressive per-36-minute stats.

Thu Apr 4 201323:31Brandan Wright scores 16 points in loss
Brandan Wright played 24 minutes against the Nuggets on Thursday with 16 points, six boards, one steal and one block on 6-of-13 shooting.
Before Tuesday's 18-minute game against the Lakers, Wright had played 25.8 minutes per game over a five-game stretch. The Mavs could be without Elton Brand for another game or two, so Wright is worth a lookf ro owners hunting blocks and field goal percentage.

Wed Apr 3 201301:36Brandan Wright cools off on Tuesday
Brandan Wright played just 18 minutes against the Lakers on Tuesday and had six points, three boards and three blocks.
He put up his first double-double of the season on Saturday, but the size of the Lakers with Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard didn't bode well for Wright. The Mavericks play against the Nuggets on Thursday, so their up-tempo pace could suggest Rick Carlisle might go with Wright more. He'll be worth a look in daily leagues on a three-game night.

Sat Mar 30 201317:25Brandan Wright logs first double-double
Brandan Wright logged his first double-double of the season with 17 points and 13 boards to go with one block in 23 minutes against the Bulls on Saturday.
He was effective in the paint and shot 7-of-8 from the field in the huge comeback win. Dallas ended the game on a 15-1 run to pull out the victory. While Wright was pulled for Shawn Marion late in the game for offense, he was a big part of keeping Dallas within striking distance for most of the fourth quarter. If you need a center, he's worth a look.

Wed Mar 27 201301:14Brandan Wright plays well in start at C
Brandan Wright started at center on Tuesday and had 11 points, seven rebounds, a steal and two blocks in 31 minutes in an overtime win over the Clippers.
Rick Carlisle can't make his mind up on his starting center, but it was Wright tonight and he's been consistently better than Elton Brand and Chris Kaman for some time now. He can disappear at any time, but if you're desperate for a center, he looks like the best one to own from the Mavericks.

Sun Mar 24 201322:26Brandan Wright starts, scores seven points
Brandan Wright, who scored a career-high 23 points on Friday, finished Sunday's game with seven points, four boards and three blocks in 23 minutes.
He started at center but wasn't a featured option against Al Jefferson and the Jazz frontcourt. We've learned not to trust Rick Carlisle's rotations, particularly at the center position, and owners shouldn't expect Wright to average more than 12 points, six boards and one block per game (his rough averages in March).

Sun Mar 24 201309:57Brandan Wright could be limited on Sunday
Brandan Wright scored a career-high 23 points on Friday, but the Dallas Morning News speculates that his minutes could be limited against Utah on Sunday.
Rick Carlisle has been very deliberate with his frontcourt rotations this season, so this is more than idle speculation. If Wright is indeed limited on Sunday, both Elton Brand and Chris Kaman would pick up a few extra minutes -- Brand was a healthy DNP-CD in the Mavs' last game.

Sat Mar 23 201300:40Brandan Wright goes off for 23 points Friday
Brandan Wright scored a game-high 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting against the Celtics on Friday, adding eight boards, one steal and one block in 30 minutes.
Wright got the start tonight and put up a season high in points. He's played 24 minutes per game in the month of March and a game like this one suggests his minutes could be on the rise. Wright has some nice upside since he blocks shots, so he'll be worth a look in standard leagues.

Fri Mar 22 201320:25Wright to start at center on Friday for Mavs
Brandan Wright will start at center on Friday against the Celtics.
Wright and the other Dallas big men are much too inconsistent for use in anything but really deep formats.
