Sun Jul 8 201219:59Kings expected to sign Jason Thompson
As expected, the Kings are set to sign free agent Jason Thompson on Wednesday.
Details of an agreement are still sketchy, but it does appear that Thompson will be back in Sacramento next season, where he will see solid minutes at PF and C. However, the Kings' front court is getting crowded, so we're not looking for Thompson to be much of a fantasy threat as of now.

Sun Jul 8 201210:41Kings, Jason Thompson close to agreement
The Kings and Jason Thompson are on the verge of verbally agreeing on a contract, according to Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee.
Details of the contract aren't yet known, but Sacramento was interested in locking up JT with a multi-year deal. The Kings now have solid frontcourt depth, but fantasy owners have to wonder how minute will be divvied up between DeMarcus Cousins, Chuck Hayes, Thompson, and No. 5 draft pick Thomas Robinson. Thompson started 47 games last season, averaging 10.0 points on 54 percent shooting, 8.0 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks in under 29 minutes per game.

Tue Jul 3 201212:19SAC hoping for multi-year deal with Thompso
The Kings are hoping to sign restricted free agent Jason Thompson to a multi-year deal.
The Kings acknowledge that they need another big, and that also helps to explain interest in restricted free agent Ryan Anderson. Thompson could also sign his $4.4 million qualifying contract offer and play out the season before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

Fri Jun 29 201211:15Kings 'primary focus' is retaining J-Thompson
Kings president Geoff Petrie said after the draft that Sacramento's "primary focus" will be retaining restricted FA Jason Thompson.
The selection of PF Thomas Robinson with the No. 5 pick spells trouble for Thompson's playing time next season, as DeMarcus Cousins and Chuck Hayes are already absorbing major frontcourt minutes. If Thompson is still a King next year, we'll bump him down our fantasy cheat sheets.

Mon Jun 25 201220:53Kings make qualifying offer to Jason Thompson
The Kings made a qualifying offer to Jason Thompson on Monday, giving them the right to match any offer on the restricted free agent.
The qualifying offer isn't going to be the hard part, as now the cash-strapped Kings will have to fend off plenty of offers for the improving fifth-year power forward. Thompson proved he has a starting-level future in the association with some upside after improving his interior offense.

Tue May 8 201217:19Petrie confirms the Kings want Thompson back
Kings president Geoff Petrie confirmed that the Kings will make the $4.1 million qualifying offer to restricted free agent Jason Thompson.
Petrie said he likes the way that Thompson complements building block DeMarcus Cousins up front. "He's going to run the floor, he gives you another passer out there as a big guy, and he started finishing better this year," Petrie said. In 31 games after the All-Star break, Thompson averaged 10.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks. It sounds like he'll be back as the starting power forward.

Sat Apr 28 201210:10Kings intend to give Thompson a QO
The Kings intend to give Jason Thompson a $4.1 million qualifying offer this summer, allowing them to retain him as a restricted FA.
"I can't predict the future, but for now it's clear they want me to stay here," Thompson said. He averaged 10 points and eight rebounds in 47 starts this season, decent numbers that would have been better if J.J. Hickson and Chuck Hayes hadn't been around to muddy the waters.

Tue Apr 24 201223:20Jason Thompson scores 22 in loss
Jason Thompson came through with 22 points, six rebounds, a steal and a block on 9-of-11 shooting in Tuesday's loss to the Thunder, despite the fact DeMarcus Cousins played well after avoiding suspension earlier in the day.
Thompson should play well again in Thursday's finale against the Lakers, especially if L.A. shuts down the stars with nothing left to play for.

Sun Apr 22 201220:42Jason Thompson lights up Bobcats w/ 14-11-7
Jason Thompson ran wild against the Bobcats on Sunday, piling up 14 points, 11 rebounds, a career-high seven assists, five steals, one block and only one turnover in 37 minutes.
Leave it to Charlotte to make Thompson look like an All-Star. In the previous 11 games, however, he was averaging just 8.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks.

Sun Apr 15 201221:37Jason Thompson struggles yet again
Jason Thompson had just three points and five rebounds in Sunday's win over the Blazers.
Thompson got whacked in the head on Friday, but that wasn't an issue in this one. He started and somehow got just two shots up in 27 minutes. Chuck Hayes (two points, seven rebounds, six assists) came off the bench with significantly more energy.

Sat Apr 14 201201:59Thompson gets wacked in the head with ball
Jason Thompson got whacked in the head with an errant pass and played just 27 minutes as a result, finishing with eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Thompson hit 3-of-7 shots and we'll watch for signs of a concussion, but the fact that he stayed in such a lopsided game tonight is a good sign. Consider him a go for Sunday's game against the Blazers unless we report otherwise.

Wed Apr 11 201223:29Jason Thompson back in starting five for SAC
Jason Thompson returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday and had 18 points, seven rebounds, a steal and block in 32 minutes.
He came off the bench on Tuesday, but was back where he belongs tonight. He's been inconsistent, but is still worth a look in most leagues if you need a big man. Just beware that the Kings play just three games next week, and two in the final week of the season.

Wed Apr 11 201215:17Jason Thompson still Kings starter at PF
Kings head coach Keith Smart said that even though Jason Thompson came off the bench on Tuesday, he is definitely still the starting power forward for Sacramento.
Smart said starting Donte Greene instead of Jason Thompson at PF on Tuesday was because he likes to start Greene against "hybrid fours" who play power forward based on a good perimeter game. Dirk Nowitzki, the opposing power forward on Tuesday, certainly fits that bill. Smart has also done this against Channing Frye and Phoenix earlier in the season and that this matchup-dictated change will only happen "six to eight times per year." Thompson is still the clear-cut starter here and should be in most lineups down the stretch.

Tue Apr 10 201223:22Jason Thompson came off bench on Tuesday but still had eight poi...
After starting eight straight, Jason Thompson came off the bench on Tuesday but still had eight points, five rebounds, and two blocks in 24 minutes.
Those are low end numbers but can be useful in deep leagues. The minutes are encouraging as are the blocks. He may be worth adding if he becomes consistent in this role.

Sun Apr 8 201223:59Jason Thompson cools off for Kings
Jason Thompson had just four points and six rebounds in Sunday's loss.
He was in foul trouble on Saturday when he failed to score and grabbed just one rebound. He'll get hot again at some point, but might be better off on fantasy benches in the upcoming week.

Sun Apr 8 201201:25Jason Thompson scoreless due to foul trouble
Jason Thompson was decimated by foul trouble on Saturday, finishing scoreless with one rebound and nothing else to his credit.
Thompson had five fouls in 15 minutes against Blake Griffin, whom multiple players have criticized lately for being protected by the league's referees. A bit of rest for JT's sore ankle might not be the worst thing with another game looming vs. Houston on Sunday, and he should bounce back without much trouble.

Fri Apr 6 201201:43Thompson (ankle) goes for 15 and 16 vs. LAC
Jason Thompson (ankle) scored 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting with 16 rebounds and two blocks in 38 minutes against the Clippers on Thursday.
His explosion still isn't where it should be, but as you can see he's back to being a productive fantasy play. We're not 100 percent sure he won't deal with the ankle problem again, but he should be in most lineups going forward.

Wed Apr 4 201201:02Jason Thompson still struggling w/ ankle
Jason Thompson played through his ankle injury on Tuesday, but had just two points, four rebounds and one block in 17 minutes.
He's clearly not healthy, but props to him for powering through the injury. The Kings still play three times this week, meaning there's plenty of time for JT to bounce back, but he could also take a step in the other direction if his ankle is bothering him that much. Watch for an update to his status on Wednesday.

Tue Apr 3 201202:47Thompson plays just 20 minutes due to ankle
Jason Thompson (ankle) played just 21 minutes in Monday's win over the Wolves, scoring nine points on 4-of-6 shooting with one rebound, one steal, and one block.
Thompson did well to reward owners that took the plunge by scraping up a steal and block, but the question is whether or not he can get back to the form from two weeks ago when he was on fire. The Suns head into town on Tuesday, so there will be no rest for the weary. We're putting JT on the injury report for obvious reasons.
