Mon Jan 13 201409:18Jason Thompson grabs season-high 16 rebounds
Jason Thompson had a season-high 16 rebounds in 30 minutes before sitting out the entire fourth quarter of Sunday's lopsided win vs. the Cavaliers.
The Kings led by 28 points going into the final frame and Isaiah Thomas was the only starter still on the court. Thompson added eight points, one steal and two blocks without any turnovers, just missing his fourth double-double of the season.

Sat Jan 11 201402:38Thompson scores 14 points with seven boards
Jason Thompson scored 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting with seven rebounds and two steals over 25 minutes in Friday's win over the Magic.
Thompson has made some mild noise lately but he's only worth a look in deeper leagues with Carl Landry coming back at some point.

Sun Jan 5 201401:54Jason Thompson double-doubles in loss
Jason Thompson took advantage of a matchup with Josh McRoberts and went for 15 points and 14 rebounds on 7-of-9 shooting in Saturday's loss to the Bobcats.
Thompson has the starting PF position locked down in Sacramento, but he rarely comes through. He was averaging 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in his previous two games, the 15 points were a season high, and he has recorded just three double-doubles on the season. Just keep an eye on him in case he starts producing consistently. He wasn't the only King with a double-double tonight, as DeMarcus Cousins had 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Rudy Gay finished with 17 & 10.

Tue Dec 17 201322:15Jason Thompson goes for 9 & 9 in loss
Jason Thompson made another start at power forward on Tuesday and had nine points, nine rebounds, a steal and a block in 31 minutes.
He had a bad night on Friday with four points and zero rebounds due to foul trouble, and also fouled out of tonight's game, but as long as he's starting for the Kings and getting these kind of minutes, he's a low-end fantasy options in many leagues. Derrick Williams came off the bench and struggled with five points in 22 minutes, while Rudy Gay left the game with a knee injury.

Sat Dec 14 201302:31Jason Thompson plays 14 minutes
Jason Thompson played 14 minutes against the Suns on Friday with four points and one turnover.
He had five fouls and was in foul trouble during this game. Thompson won't be this bad, but the emergence of Derrick Williams is going to keep him from putting up decent lines on a consistent basis. He's more or less useless in most leagues.

Fri Dec 13 201314:46Jason Thompson to start, Williams off bench
Jason Thompson will start and Derrick Williams will come off the bench in Friday night's game against the Suns.
While Derrick Williams has been much better, the move makes sense. Thompson can't carry the offensive load and he can just hit the boards while the starters can do most of the work on offense. In other words, the Kings can hide his offensive deficiencies. Meanwhile, Williams could help be the centerpiece with the second unit, plus he will likely get significant minutes in the fourth quarter. Williams has a much higher upside in fantasy and still has nice potential.

Thu Dec 12 201301:21Jason Thompson has 11 & 6 in start at PF
Jason Thompson started at power forward and had 11 points and six rebounds in 34 minutes Wednesday.
He hit 3-of-8 shots and it's important to note that Rudy Gay didn't play in this one. Gay will be ready for their next game and it's quite possible that Derrick Williams will slide over to start at power forward instead of small forward. And if it happens, Thompson's fantasy value will take a big hit, not that he had much to begin with.

Tue Dec 10 201301:55Jason Thompson scores 10 points vs. Dallas
Jason Thompson scored 10 points with seven boards and three assists in 30 minutes against the Dallas Mavericks.
There are some rumors popping up about Thompson being traded from the Kings with Derrick Williams in town and with the team eventually getting Carl Landry back from a hip flexor tear. Thompson played all 30 minutes at power forward tonight and his style of play doesn't really allow the Kings to draw up plays for him. Derrick Williams obviously has more fantasy value at this point.

Mon Dec 9 201309:22Report: Jason Thompson on the trade block
ESPN's Marc Stein reports that the Kings will be "trying to find a new home for forward Jason Thompson" following Sunday's trade for Rudy Gay.
The implication is that Gay will start at SF and Derrick Williams can shift to PF once Thompson is no longer in town, but there's no mention of when or where JT might be traded. He's averaging just 7.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 22 minutes per game despite starting at PF for the Kings, so a trade might be a good thing for his fantasy outlook.

Wed Dec 4 201300:41Jason Thompson double-doubles in loss
Jason Thompson had 10 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in Tuesday's loss to the Thunder.
He benefitted from the loss of DeMarcus Cousins (ankle), but is still averaging just 7.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks over his last five games. If those numbers are better than what you're getting from the end of your bench, give him a look.

Sun Dec 1 201321:30Jason Thompson cracks double-digit points
Jason Thompson scored 10 points in 28 minutes vs. the Warriors, adding seven rebounds without any assists, steals or blocks.
This was JT's first double-digit scoring game in 11 days, and his minutes continue to be eroded by Patrick Patterson, who played 27 minutes off the bench. It shouldn't be hard to find a more productive PF on your waiver wire.

Sun Nov 17 201320:31Jason Thompson held to 10 minutes vs. Memphis
Jason Thompson got off to a slow start on Sunday and never recovered, finishing a loss to the Grizzlies with three points and zero rebounds in 10 minutes.
Thompson isn't the first big man to come up empty vs. the Grizzlies, and it's not altogether unexpected in light of his season-average 6.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.8 fouls in 21 minutes per game. That's an unwholesome 6.4 fouls per 36 minutes, which is a limiting factor for Thompson's value despite the absence of Patrick Patterson (knee) and Carl Landry (hip surgery). Tonight, however, he and the first unit were simply benched for ineffective play.

Sat Nov 16 201305:00Thompson can't get things going vs. DET
Jason Thompson hit just 2-of-8 shots in Friday's loss, finishing with four points, nine rebounds and no steals or blocks in 28 minutes.
Thompson couldn't take advantage of Patrick Patterson's knee contusion, which knocked his partner in the position battle out of the game and has him likely day-to-day going forward. We need to see more before getting behind JT's value even if Patterson gets bad news when he's evaluated.

Wed Nov 13 201322:02Jason Thompson also starting Wednesday
Jason Thompson will join Grievis Vasquez, Ben McLemore, John Salmons and DeMarcus Cousins in the starting lineup against the Nets on Wednesday.
Thompson disappeared before tonight, playing in just 12.5 minutes per game over his last two games. Mike Malone's Kings have lost five games in a row, so he's going to see if a new combination can solve their woes on both ends.

Sat Nov 9 201322:01Jason Thompson moves into starting lineup
Jason Thompson will start at power forward on Saturday while Patrick Patterson moves to the bench.
Coach Mike Malone wasn't happy with his team's performance and decided to shake things up tonight. Thompson played just 13 minutes on Friday and is just at 20.8 minutes per game on the season. Patterson played 31 minutes in back-to-back games and is averaging 25.4 minutes per night. There isn't much to like here in standard leagues.

Sun Nov 3 201301:48Jason Thompson double-doubles in loss
Jason Thompson had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five turnovers in 22 minutes off the Kings bench on Saturday.
Keep in mind that this game was a blowout in favor of the Warriors and DeMarcus Cousins was benched for most of the second half. Thompson played well on Friday night though, too, going for 11 points, seven boards and two blocks. He's worth a look by owners in need of a big man, but will be inconsistent as long as he's coming off the bench behind Cousins and Patrick Patterson. Patterson scored just two points tonight, so it's possible that the Kings could be thinking about starting Thompson. If it happens, be ready to pick him up.

Sat Nov 2 201303:25Thompson edging in front of Patterson
Jason Thompson scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting with seven rebounds and two blocks in 30 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Patrick Patterson (six points, three rebounds, one steal, 18 minutes) is starting but it's Thompson that is finishing games and playing better among the two of them. That could change any number of times throughout the year, making this a position battle to worry about only in deep leagues until one of them separates from the other.

Thu Aug 8 201309:21Jason Thompson ready for challenge
Jason Thompson said he's ready for the challenge to compete for playing time with the Kings this season.
"Depth is always good. When you're a guy that, you think you deserve a certain amount of minutes, then it gets interesting," Thompson said. "To know I've lasted through all of those times, makes you feel good and I'm ready for every challenge." The Kings brought on Carl Landry and Thompson raised some eyebrows by saying "wow" on his Twitter account moments after the team signed Landry. Of course, he could have been talking about something else, but JT has been competing for minutes for most of his career. He and Landry should split most of the duties at power forward while also seeing some time at center to back up DeMarcus Cousins.

Thu Apr 11 201301:04Jason Thompson scores 20 points
Jason Thompson scored 20 points with eight boards, one assist, one steal and two blocks on 8-of-12 shooting on Wednesday.
He scored just two points in his last game, but scored at least 15 points in his three previous contests. Thompson's fouls have been on the rise and with Patrick Patterson expected back soon, there's very little reason to pick him up. The Kings do have four games left from Friday to Wednesday, which could help some owners.

Thu Mar 28 201309:27Jason Thompson has improved perimeter D
Jason Thompson has improved his perimeter defense in order to guard stretch power forwards more efficiently.
"I thought this year Jason did a pretty decent job," Keith Smart said. "I thought overall he's done a decent job with that." Thompson remains in the Kings starting lineup, but he hasn't exceeded 27 minutes of playing time since March 27 and will have to compete with Patrick Patterson for minutes.
