Fri Mar 16 201218:56Toney Douglas (personal) out Friday for NYK
Toney Douglas will miss another Knicks game on Friday night due to personal reasons.
Douglas has only played in two games since February 6th so he shouldn't have been on any fantasy rosters to begin with.

Wed Mar 14 201210:41Toney Douglas out due to personal issue
Toney Douglas (personal) won't play in Wednesday's game against the Blazers.
Douglas has played in two games since February 6 and is a candidate to be traded. Odds are most owners wouldn't have noticed his absence in Wednesday's affair since he is buried at the end of the bench.

Thu Feb 16 201217:34Douglas, Bibby candidates to get cut
Toney Douglas, Mike Bibby and Renaldo Balkman are candidates to be released to make room for J.R. Smith.
The New York Daily News is reporting that Smith's to the Knicks is essentially a done deal. Douglas opened the year as the starting point guard and fantasy sleeper, but flopped miserably. He's been a DNP-CD in four of the last five games as Linsanity has taken hold.

Sat Feb 4 201202:55Douglas held scoreless in eight minutes
Toney Douglas was held scoreless in eight minutes on Friday.
Douglas looks like a shell of his former self at times and tonight was one of those. He's off the fantasy radar until he can climb back onto it.

Fri Feb 3 201200:13Douglas plays 15 minutes against the Bulls
Toney Douglas played just 15 minutes against the Bulls on Thursday, scoring six points on 2-of-7 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds and one assist.
Douglas wasn't going to see the floor with Landry Fields (42 minutes) hot right now and Iman Shumpert being the only player on the Knicks roster with a slight chance of staying in front of Derrick Rose. But the Knicks offense is looking better with Carmelo Anthony trying to move the ball around more, and that gives Douglas some hope as a 3-point shooting specialist of the bench. Watch him from the waiver wire.

Sat Jan 28 201222:53Toney Douglas struggles in another start
Toney Douglas started at point guard for the second straight game on Saturday but hit just 3-of-13 shots and a 3-pointer for seven points, three rebounds and four assists.
Iman Shumpert came off the bench for 11 points in 28 minutes, while the desperate Knicks gave Jeremy Lin 20 minutes. Lin had nine points and six assists, but the fact he played that much is telling of just how desperate Mike D'Antoni is for a true point guard. Baron Davis still isn't back, and the Knicks point guard situation appears to be a five-man rotation, with none of them looking like great options.

Sat Jan 28 201219:13Douglas, Walker starting for Knicks
Toney Douglas will start at point guard for the Knicks on Saturday, along with Bill Walker.
Douglas gets the nod over Iman Shumpert, while Walker is filling in for Carmelo Anthony. Douglas is worth a look in fantasy leagues, while Shumpert could also play well with the second unit off the bench. Baron Davis will be back at some point in the next week, but Douglas could continue to start for the next 10 days or so.

Sat Jan 28 201202:23Douglas starts for Melo; hits four threes
Toney Douglas started in a three-guard lineup with Carmelo Anthony (wrist, ankle) out on Friday, hitting just 6-of-18 shots from the field (including four treys) with no rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block in 36 minutes.
This game was ridiculous, and we don't like Mike D'Antoni's strategy of trying to win the game from 3-point territory. It was desperate and ruined the continuity created by the past two games' worth of positive steps taken by the offense. Douglas has re-emerged lately and may have value down the road if Anthony continues to distribute the ball as he did on Tuesday and Wednesday, but owners should only be adding Douglas right now as a spot-starter on Saturday.

Fri Jan 27 201219:12Knicks to start Douglas with Anthony out
Toney Douglas will get the start for the Knicks on Friday night with Carmelo Anthony (wrist, ankle) out.
Douglas and Iman Shumpert will man the Knicks backcourt and Landry Fields will move to the SF position on Friday night. It was originally thought that Bill Walker would get the start at SF, but that is not going to be the case. It will be interesting to see how the Knicks play with the three-guard lineup against the Heat.

Wed Jan 25 201217:50Knicks exercise option on Toney Douglas
Knicks exercised the fourth-year option on Toney Douglas.
Douglas still has some upside at age 25, but needs to work on his point guard skills if he's ever going to become a long-term NBA starter. He's currently stuck behind Iman Shumpert, Landry Fields and soon Baron Davis in the Knicks' backcourt, averaging 7.3 points in his last nine games.

Wed Jan 25 201213:17Knicks will pick up Toney Douglas' option
Knicks will exercise the fourth-year contract option on G Toney Douglas.
A formality for the Knicks, as the team would be foolish to not exercise the last year on his rookie deal. He'll continue to serve as a scorer in the second unit but his fantasy outlook is bleak with Baron Davis' (back) return around the corner and Iman Shumpert clearly ahead of him in the pecking order.

Fri Jan 13 201200:14Douglas may not be done producing yet
Toney Douglas scored eight points on 3-of-13 shooting (1-of-5 from downtown) with two rebounds, four assists, and a steal in 24 minutes on Thursday.
This isn't the greatest line, but depending on Carmelo Anthony's ankle and wrist injuries and how long Iman Shumpert slumps, there could be a sliver of hope here. We wouldn't pass on a hot free agent to add or hold Douglas, but if the wire is slim you may want to see how things work out on Saturday.

Tue Jan 10 201201:35Douglas (shoulder) nearly a non-factor
Tony Douglas played through his shoulder ailment on Monday, scoring two points on 1-of-5 shooting with one rebound and no assists in 13 minutes.
Let's not be too hard on Douglas here, a SG who has been asked to play PG in a formerly up-tempo offense that now ranks just 21st in transition scoring. The guy that replaced him, Iman Shumpert, is simply more fit to run the point in a stand-still, iso-Melo offense. We doubt Douglas just goes away this season, and Mike D'Antoni still views Shumpert as a SG, but if you want to drop him for a hot free agent feel free.

Mon Jan 9 201214:26Toney Douglas still part of the rotation
Coach Mike D'Antoni said that Toney Douglas remains part of his rotation.
Douglas' questionable shot selection, shoulder injury and all-around poor production got him booted from the starting lineup in favor of Iman Shumpert. Douglas will now be asked to simply score off the bench. It's a role, but we can't expect much more than 18-23 minutes on most nights.

Mon Jan 9 201211:28Toney Douglas (shoulder) will play Monday
Toney Douglas (shoulder) will play in Monday's game.
Douglas' surgically-repaired shoulder has been giving him problems this season, and was aggravated when he ran into a hard pick on Saturday. He's stuck in a bench role for now, and his outlook is dim with a bum shoulder and Baron Davis' return on the horizon.

Sun Jan 8 201202:32Report: Toney Douglas tweaked shoulder
Toney Douglas reportedly aggravated his shoulder after running into a hard pick during Saturday's game, and he wound up playing just five minutes off the bench.
Douglas lost his starting job to rookie Iman Shumpert, and his outlook isn't great with Mike Bibby in the rotation and Baron Davis on his way (eventually). He can be dropped for a more promising FA, though it might not hurt to wait a few games to see how his new role develops. Just beware his ailing shoulder, as it nagged him all last season and required surgery over the summer.

Sat Jan 7 201222:53Toney Douglas scoreless off Knicks' bench
Coming off the bench behind Iman Shumpert, Toney Douglas was scoreless in under six minutes.
Douglas struggled in seven starts this year, shooting just 34% from the field and 28% from downtown. He's plenty talented (he also chipped in 1.6 threes, 3.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 steals) but it doesn't look like he will get many opportunities in his new role.

Sat Jan 7 201200:41Douglas gets benched to start the second half
Toney Douglas was benched for Iman Shumpert to start the second half of Friday's game, and finished with no points on five missed shot attempts, one steal, three turnovers, and no other stats in 12 minutes of action.
Ouch. Douglas has been awful at times, but the real issue is that he doesn't have the juice nor the true PG skill to command a Carmelo Anthony iso-inspired offense. If the Knicks were playing 'seven seconds or less' basketball his deficiencies would be more hidden, but in a slower, give the ball to Melo approach he's forced into more one-on-one action. To top it off he's making big mistakes and playing bad defense. He'll continue to start according to Mike D'Antoni, but he's on a short leash.
