Mon Dec 30 201312:35Chase Budinger (knee) plays 3-on-3 Monday
Chase Budinger (knee) will not play on Monday, but he did participate in a 3-on-3 scrimmage with full contact during shootaround.
Budinger is slowly nearing a return from his second knee surgery, but the Wolves will naturally play it safe with his return date. Corey Brewer's value has already faded after a hot start to the season and he may lose his grip on the SF job once Bud is healthy enough to join the active lineup.

Fri Dec 27 201311:09Chase Budinger nearing return for Wolves
Chase Budinger (knee surgery) practiced again on Thursday for the third time in a week, but still doesn't sound like he's ready for game action.
"He says he feels fine, but he's going through training camp basically," coach Rick Adelman said. "His whole body is sore, but he's moving OK. So hopefully, gradually he'll get better." Budinger sounds like he might be ready to play in the near future, but it's unlikely that he'll be worth owning in fantasy leagues.

Thu Dec 26 201320:22Chase Budinger doing light work with team
Chase Budinger (knee) has been doing some light work at practice with the team.
Coach Rick Adelman called it a gradual process and added his swingman still isn't ready to return. Budinger has been out all season from his surgery back in October and will get back in the rotation. Corey Brewer's honeymoon of efficiency with the Wolves is over due to shooting just 30.8 percent from the field in December, so Budinger figures to get into a timeshare at worst.

Thu Dec 19 201314:45Budinger (knee) feels good after practice
Chase Budinger (knee) felt fine after going through 4-on-4 drills on Thursday.
Budinger's biggest issue is general soreness following such a long rehabilitation process, but it's still unclear when he might return to action. The Wolves head to L.A. to face the Lakers on Friday and the Clippers on Sunday, after which they get four consecutive days off. Don't be surprised if Minnesota delays Bud's return to take advantage of the extra rest.

Mon Dec 9 201317:10Chase Budinger with the team
Chase Budinger (knee) has joined the team for their game in Detroit.
He's not going to play and has no timetable to return from his knee injury. Budinger was expected to be a part of the rotation and could get his fair share of 3-point attempts, so he would be on the radar in deep leagues as a specialist. Corey Brewer may have to give up some of his minutes.

Tue Nov 26 201315:20Chase Budinger (knee) may miss 3 more weeks
Chase Budinger (knee) could miss another three weeks before making his season debut.
Corey Brewer has been playing well as the team's starting SF, but Budinger's ailing knee may have prompted the Wolves to trade for Luc Mbah a Moute this week. With two competent SFs already competing for minutes, and another three weeks of DNPs ahead of him, Budinger may not do much of note before the All-Star break.

Mon Nov 18 201313:40Chase Budinger (knee) puts up a few jumpers
Chase Budinger (knee surgery) put up some shots during the Wolves' practice on Monday.
He has rejoined the team but is still rehabbing his knee and doesn't have a return date. The good news is that he got some lift on his jumpers today, and appears to be on pace for a full recovery within his initial 6-8 week timetable.

Thu Nov 14 201316:54Update: Budinger (knee) still rehabbing
Updating a previous report, Chase Budinger (knee) will rejoin the Wolves this week but he has not been cleared for basketball activities.
According to the Wolves' PR department, "[Budinger] has been cleared to return to Minneapolis to continue his rehab. He remains sidelined indefinitely." Beat writer Jon Krawczynski suggests that "mid- to late-December" is a realistic timetable for Budinger to return -- he's been limited to treadmill workouts and will need to regain his strength and conditioning once he's fully cleared. Minnesota isn't likely to rush him into action coming off a second knee surgery, especially with Corey Brewer thriving as the team's starting SF.

Thu Nov 14 201315:55Chase Budinger (knee) cleared for activity
Chase Budinger (knee surgery) has been cleared to resume basketball activities, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
He will rejoin the team but his return date is still uncertain. When he returns it will be interesting to see how Rick Adelman handles the starting SF position. Budinger was slated to start prior to his injury and may take the job once he's up to speed, but Brewer has played very well during Minnesota's 6-3 start this season, and he leads the NBA in fast-break points. We will have many more Budinger updates before he's ready to play in a game.

Mon Nov 11 201318:27Chase Budinger has appointment coming up
Chase Budinger (knee) will see a doctor on Wednesday.
He is hoping to received clearance to continue his rehab. The team is expecting him to join them soon, but he does not have a timetable to return. Corey Brewer has filled in admirably and his skills in transition fit right in with the current scheme.

Sat Nov 2 201319:06Chase Budinger (knee) may join team this week
Chase Budinger (knee surgery) could rejoin the Wolves early this week, when he returns from rehabbing in Florida.
It's a nice step toward for Budinger and the Wolves, but his return to the court is a long way off -- no exact timetable has been announced, but a rough 6-8 week estimate would have him out until at least late November. Corey Brewer will continue to start at SF in his absence.

Wed Oct 2 201311:57Budinger (knee) had partial meniscectomy
Chase Budinger had roughly one-quarter of his lateral meniscus removed during Monday's surgery, and he remains without a recovery timetable.
This is a mildly encouraging update. Removing damaged parts of the meniscus may lead to arthritis earlier in life, but it also typically results in a faster recovery time for athletes. Given that Budinger's injury was to the same knee that required surgery last season, however, all bets are off. Until he's cleared to resume basketball activities, Corey Brewer and Derrick Williams will hold down the SF spot for the Wolves.

Tue Oct 1 201311:05Chase Budinger has left knee meniscus removed
Chase Budinger had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Tuesday, involving the removal of his meniscus.
Budinger is out indefinitely and the nature of the surgery is not promising for his season outlook. We'll try to remain optimistic while awaiting medical updates, but the removal of Budinger's meniscus invokes the spectre of Brandon Roy's career-ending knee problems. His absence should hand the starting SF job to Corey Brewer, with Derrick Williams and rookie Shabazz Muhammad backing up the position. Of the three, only Brewer is worth a fantasy draft pick. Check back soon for more information about Budinger's health and season outlook.

Fri Sep 27 201312:44Chase Budinger suffers serious knee injury
Chase Budinger has suffered a cartilage injury to his left knee and will see Dr. James Andrews.
Uh oh. He'll visit RG3's new best friend next week and it's hard to see this ending well. We had Budinger penciled in as the potential starter at small forward in Minnesota, but it isn't sounding likely that he'll be ready to go on opening night. Corey Brewer appears to be next in line to start, unless the Wolves decide to give Derrick Williams another shot and play him out of his natural position of power forward.

Fri Sep 13 201316:34Chase Budinger (knee) doing guard workouts
Chase Budinger (knee) said that he's doing guard workouts in pre-camp.
He's focusing on coming off ball screens, pin downs and dribbling. Budinger's knee sounds like he's close to 100 percent and he should be ready to go for camp. The Wolves did add Kevin Martin at shooting guard and are very thin at small forward with Corey Brewer and rookie Shabazz Muhammad, so Budinger should see most of his time at small forward. He's a good bet to match his 1.1 triples per game from last season and could add to it, as well.

Sat Jul 13 201313:10Chase Budinger (knee) now jumping, dunking
Chase Budinger said that his surgically-repaired knee feels "great" and he's "able to jump and dunk again."
He accepted less money to re-sign with the Wolves and he projects as the starting SF on opening night, with Corey Brewer playing sixth-man. Budinger is a career 35.8 percent shooter from downtown, and his per-36-minute average suggests modest fantasy value in an expanded role next year -- 15.7 points, 1.8 threes, 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.5 blocks.

Sun Jun 30 201323:05Chase Budinger drawing heavy interest as FA
The Timberwolves, Bucks and Pelicans have all made Chase Budinger "a priority" in free agency, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Other teams with interest include the Jazz, Pacers and Grizzlies, as Budinger's knee surgery last season clearly hasn't dampened his value around the league. He's said that he wants to re-sign in Minnesota as long as Rick Adelman is the head coach, and all signs point to Adelman staying, but a hefty offer sheet could always change his mind.
