Fri Apr 19 201309:19Kahn hoping to re-sign Chase Budinger
President of basketball operations David Kahn is hoping to re-sign unrestricted free agent Chase Budinger.
The Timberwolves have made it clear that they plan to target a legitimate shooting guard in the offseason, but the club also wants to keep Budinger around after he made a positive impression in limited action this season. It's unclear what kind of deal he'll be seeking, but it's worth noting the team gave up a first-round pick to acquire him before the 2012/13 season began.

Wed Apr 17 201308:10Budinger wants to return if Adelman stays
Chase Budinger, who will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, wants to return to the Timberwolves only if Rick Adelman remains the head coach.
Adelman previously said he's planning to come back next season unless he learns something new regarding his wife's health. "I like the staff. I love Adelman," Budinger said. "That's a big part of it." Budinger admitted he's still not 100 percent after knee surgery and will spend the offseason ensuring he gets back to previous form.

Thu Apr 11 201301:37Chase Budinger scores seven in 27 minutes
Chase Budinger played 27 minutes, but hit just 3-of-10 shots and a 3-pointer for seven points, one rebound and two assists.
He blew up for 17 points and six boards on Tuesday in similar minutes, but never got it going tonight. With Dante Cunningham sidelined with a hamstring injury, it's possible that Budinger continues to get close to 30 minutes a game to finish out the season, so it would not be surprising to see him bounce back from this performance.

Wed Apr 10 201301:34Chase Budinger scores 17 in another loss
Chase Budinger played 27 minutes and hit 7-of-15 shots and two 3-pointers for 17 points and six rebounds in Tuesday's loss.
Budinger has had a couple good games since returning, but had been struggling prior to this one. If he continues to get more minutes than Derrick Williams, he might end up being a sneaky add for the last few games of the season.

Sat Mar 30 201301:31Budinger scores 13 points with two threes
Chase Budinger scored 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting (including two threes) with three rebounds and one steal in 23 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Budinger is returning low-end numbers in standard leagues right now, and with a pair of four-game weeks upcoming he's well worth a look even if things are crowded in Minny. He led the bench with 23 minutes played tonight.

Thu Mar 28 201301:02Chase Budinger nearly double-doubles
Chase Budinger came off the bench for 14 points, nine boards, two steals, a block and a 3-pointer on 6-of-12 shooting.
He's finally rounding back into form after knee surgery and it's possible the Wolves want to take a close look at him the rest of the way. He's not a must-own player as of now, but is definitely worth putting on your radar in case this was the start of a hot streak. He played 24 minutes tonight.

Fri Mar 22 201308:40Chase Budinger feels good after returning
Chase Budinger, who returned on Thursday after being sidelined since November, said he felt "a lot better" than expected.
Budinger played 17.5 minutes, but the important thing to note here is that his knee "felt good out there," and he should be able to stay in the lineup the rest of the way. Unfortunately, Budinger was the only person to hit a 3-pointer as his team went 1-of-19 from deep en route to a three-point loss.

Fri Mar 22 201300:33Chase Budinger scores nine in return
Chase Budinger returned from his surgery on his meniscus, scoring nine points with four boards, one steal and one 3-pointer in 18 minutes against the Kings on Thursday.
He was hurt on November 10 and he basically replaced Mickael Gelabale (DNP-CD) in the rotation tonight. Gelabale played 24.6 minutes per game in his previous five games, so there could be some opportunity for Budinger. Andrei Kirilenko getting more playing time should limit Budinger from consideration in standard leagues for now, though.

Thu Mar 21 201321:00Chase Budinger activated for Thursday
Chase Budinger (knee) is active for Thursday's game against the Kings.
He's been out since November 10 with an MCL tear and the Wolves are likely going to take it easier on him. Budinger was making a splash before going down to injury, but that was more about the Wolves having minimal depth at that time. Even though the Wolves have a great schedule, owners should just take a wait-and-see approach on Budinger.

Thu Mar 21 201318:13Chase Budinger to decide after warmups Thurs.
Chase Budinger (knee surgery) will go through warmups Thursday before deciding whether to make his return to Minnesota' lineup.
Budinger has been practicing with the Timberwolves but hasn't played in a game since Nov. 10. If he's unable to give it a go tonight, Friday's game against Phoenix is another good option. We'll update you as soon as we know more but Budinger is unlikely to make enough of an impact to merit consideration in most formats.

Wed Mar 20 201315:37Chase Budinger hopes to make return Thursday
Chase Budinger says his surgically repaired knee felt good after practice Wednesday but acknowledged there will be soreness all season.
Budinger and coach Rick Adelman are hopeful Budinger will be able to play Thursday night, but it all depends on how his knee reacts to practicing Wednesday. Budinger hasn't played since tearing his MCL on Nov. 10 and it's unlikely he'll make a big enough impact to merit fantasy consideration in most leagues.

Wed Mar 20 201313:59Chase Budinger returns to practice Wednesday
Chase Budinger (knee surgery) participated in practice on Wednesday.
Great news for Budinger as this was an expected next step for him. It's possible for Budinger to play as early as Thursday, and he should see minutes immediately, though he'll likely be on a limit initially. Budinger hasn't played since November 10 after suffering an MCL tear. He's expected to see minutes at both shooting guard and small forward.

Mon Mar 18 201319:15Budinger to practice on Wednesday
Chase Budinger (knee) will return to practice on Wednesday according to coach Rick Adelman.
We'll have to see if this is a full contact practice or not but either way it looks like Budinger will be back sooner or later. His return will likely do more to hinder the fantasy value of others than it will do for himself.

Tue Mar 12 201312:53Chase Budinger cleared for full contact work
Chase Budinger has been cleared for full contact work, but his return date remains uncertain.
Budinger needs to get some practice work in, but the team is going to practice just a couple of times over the next 10 days. It's still possible that he returns in mid-March, but it's looking more likely that he'll return in mid-to-late March. It's also not clear what role he will initially return to or if he'll be limited.

Sun Mar 10 201317:27Chase Budinger hopes to return in 2-3 weeks
Chase Budinger (knee) was shooting jumpers before Sunday's game and hopes to return in 2-3 weeks.
His MCL sprain has cost him the majority of the season and he will likely be eased back into the rotation. Budinger was productive just before the injury, but Ricky Rubio coming back and Alexey Shved emerging should limit his upside enough to keep him from standard league consideration.

Wed Mar 6 201312:37Chase Budinger nearing return to court?
Chase Budinger (knee) was spotted shooting jumpers and is "nearing" a return.
Budinger's timetable has always had him returning in mid-March, so he could be back as soon as next week. That's wonderful news for a badly injured Timberwolves team as Budinger will help at both shooting guard and small forward when he returns.

Mon Feb 25 201314:26Chase Budinger (knee) targeting late March
Chase Budinger (knee) has been cleared for running and agility drills, and he will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks.
This meshes with recent reports that Budinger would return toward the second half of March, at the earliest, and fantasy owners can safely ignore him for the time being. When he does return, we expect to see a few wrinkles in the Wolves' SG/SF rotations.

Sat Feb 23 201315:45Chase Budinger will visit Dr. James Andrews
Chase Budinger (knee) will visit Dr. James Andrews on Monday.
He's hoping to be cleared for running and cutting after his meeting with the Michael Jordan of orthopedic surgery. Budinger was heating up before he tore his MCL with an average of 14.7 points per game in his three games before the injury. Things will be a little different upon his return with the Ricky Rubio back and Alexey Shved emerging, so there's really no reason to stash him.

Sat Feb 9 201310:06Chase Budinger starts taking jump shots
Chase Budinger (knee surgery) has started taking jump shots and doing lateral movement.
Budinger is scheduled to see a doctor Wednesday to determine a timetable for his return. Wolves GM David Kahn said he expects Budinger to return "in March, but not in early March." When he does return, Budinger is more of a boost to the Wolves than fantasy owners. You can safely monitor him from the waiver wire.

Wed Jan 9 201307:52Chase Budinger to see doctor Wednesday
Chase Budinger (knee) will see a doctor on Wednesday to determine a timetable for his return.
Budinger is targeting a March return, and while he could return a bit earlier than expected, he's still going to be sidelined for at least a month. When he is healthy, Budinger will help the Wolves on the wing, but owners can monitor his progression from the waiver wire.
