Tue Apr 24 201209:11Greg Stiemsma questionable vs. Miami Heat
Greg Stiemsma (sore feet) is questionable to play on Tuesday against the Heat.
Stiemsma has been battling issues with his feet since March, but he's been playing through the concern and hasn't missed time with the injury. The D-League product has played in 55 games this season, averaging 1.6 blocks in just 14 minutes per game.

Fri Apr 20 201218:04Stiemsma to start on Friday against Hawks
With the Celtics sitting Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen and Mickael Pietrus, big man Greg Stiemsma will get a rare start on Friday night against the Hawks.
The Cs are going with a very depleted lineup of Avery Bradley, Brandon Bass, Keyon Dooling, Sasha Pavolic and Greg Stiemsma. Stiemsma offers some very interesting upside, as the last time he started he had eight points, five rebounds, six blocks and four steals in 27 minutes. Those are very valuable stats from a player not owned on many teams. He is a very viable pickup for any owners dealing with the injured Celtics, especially if you need blocks.

Thu Apr 19 201210:41Greg Stiemsma hoping to return to Boston
Greg Stiemsma, who will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season, would like to return to Boston.
"Oh yeah, absolutely," he said. "I'd love to come back." The Steamer has dealt with foul trouble when he's been on the floor at times, but his 5.39 blocks per 48 minutes is impressive and ranks second in the NBA.

Wed Apr 18 201223:58Stiemsma bounces back with four blocks
Greg Stiemsma, who played just 10 minutes and did nothing on Tuesday, bounced back for two points, five rebounds, a steal and four blocks in Wednesday's win.
Stiemsma is in fantasy lineups for steals and blocks, and bounced back after Tuesday's disaster.

Tue Apr 17 201223:23Greg Stiemsma disappears in loss to Knicks
Greg Stiemsma, who had eight points, five boards, four steals and six blocks on Sunday, didn't record a single stat in 10 minutes of Tuesday's loss to the Knicks.
He did have three fouls, and this line comes as a tough blow to owners who picked up the hot center for the boards, blocks and steals he'd been posting. Maybe he'll bounce back in the next one.

Sat Apr 14 201222:19Greg Stiemsma posts nice line in win
Greg Stiemsma had six points, nine boards, two steals and two blocks in Saturday's win.
He should play well again on Sunday at Charlotte, when several Celtics stars could possibly get a rest.

Sat Apr 7 201221:39Stiemsma solid w/ five blocks vs. Pacers
Greg Stiemsma blocked five shots in 27 minutes off the Celtics' bench on Saturday.
Stiemsma also scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but this represents the furthest extent of Stiemsma's fantasy value (he's cracked double-digit points twice this season). He's only worth a look if you're in need of a blocks-specialist -- the Celtics play five times next week.

Fri Apr 6 201200:40Stiemsma not blocking the ball anymore
Greg Stiemsma did not have a steal or block in Thursday's game.
Stiemsma has played 10 or less minutes in his last two games and failed to record a steal or block in both. It's time to look elsewhere if you're hunting those categories.

Thu Mar 29 201201:53Stiemsma quietly blocking, stealing
Greg Stiemsa is a terrible offensive option, but is quietly blocking shots and stealing the ball, and had one steal and four blocks in Wednesday's win over the Jazz.
In his last five games he's averaging four points, four rebounds, 1.6 steals and 2.6 blocks per game. It's hard to imagine owners being able to overcome the four points per game (he scored one point on Wednesday), but the steals and blocks might work in some deeper Roto leagues.

Mon Mar 26 201223:59Greg Stiemsma gets two more blocks
Greg Stiemsma had three points, two blocks, two steals and five rebounds in Monday's win over the Bobcats.
Stiemsma has quietly been giving desperate deep-leaguers in search of defensive stats a boost. With Jermaine O'Neal and Chris Wilcox both out for the season, the undrafted rookie has settled into a 17-23 minute role as the first big off the bench. And over the last seven games, Stiemsma is averaging 2.7 blocks and 1.2 steals per night.

Sat Mar 24 201203:48Steimsma blocks two shots despite foot
Greg Steimsma played through a bruised right foot injury on Friday, scoring two points on 1-of-1 shooting with zero rebounds and two blocks in 18 minutes off the bench.
The blocks are there, which is probably what the desperate are using Stiemsma for, but the numbers suggest the injury could be a problem. He is a shaky, shaky fantasy asset right now.

Fri Mar 23 201208:03Greg Stiemsma still hurting for Celtics
Greg Stiemsma is still dealing with a bruised right foot.
Stiemsma is wearing a walking boot before and after games, so it's obvious he's hurting. Doc Rivers said that he's not practicing and he's simply taking the boot off to play in games because the Celtics are hurting in the size department. Ryan Hollins should take some pressure of Stiemsma, but Boston will need him to keep playing through the pain for now.

Thu Mar 22 201222:59Greg Stiemsma flirts with low-end 5x5 line
Greg Stiemsma scored six points on 3-of-5 shooting with four rebounds, three assists, four steals, and five blocks in 24 minutes off the bench on Thursday.
Stiemsma is definitely worth an add in 8- and 9-cat leagues if you need a big man, as over the past two weeks he has averaged 1.5 steals and 2.9 blocks to go with about four points and four boards per game. During that time he has played just 18 minutes per contest, but the Celtics have practically no depth and that gives Stiemsma some degree of playing time security.

Tue Mar 20 201208:12Greg Stiemsma dealing with sprained foot
Greg Stiemsma (sprained foot) was wearing a walking boot prior to Monday's 79-76 win over the Hawks.
Stiemsma played 19 minutes, but Doc Rivers acknowledged that he's playing hurt. "Greg is really struggling," he said. "We didn't let him go through shootaround, and I had to take him out of the game the other night." The Celtics need Stiemsma right now as the only true center on the roster and playing behind Kevin Garnett, and this injury should have Danny Ainge rapidly working the phone lines to bring in another big man as soon as possible.

Tue Feb 7 201218:02Greg Stiemsma will stick with Celtics
The Celtics will guarantee Greg Stiemsma's contract for the rest of the season.
Stiemsma was given almost no shot of making Boston's roster out of training camp as an undrafted free agent. He beat the odds and then even got meaningful minutes as injuries struck the Celtics' front line. Stiemsma has appeared in 19 games overall, averaging 1.5 points and 1.1 blocks in 8.2 minutes.

Sat Jan 7 201201:14Stiemsma back to the bench for the Celtics
Greg Stiemsma played just seven minutes on Friday against the Pacers.
Jermaine O'Neal is back and played 26 minutes tonight, but is extremely injury-prone and Stiemsma will be a guy whose name you want to remember. As a backup, Stiemsma has been looked over for Chris Wilcox lately, but not tonight as Wilcox played just three mintues.

Mon Jan 2 201222:29C Greg Stiemsma has mini-breakout game
Greg Stiemsma started for injured Jermaine O'Neal (hamstring) on Monday, and had a mini-breakout with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting with seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in 21 minutes.
Stiemsma can surely block shots and has a sneaky little jumper. He is not an ideal NBA-level talent, but he's better than Jermaine O'Neal at this stage of his career. The Celtics aren't going to want to play him heavily unless he continues surprising, but those needing a big man should certainly be taking a flier. The Celtics simply can't count on O'Neal to stay healthy and Stiemsma fills a need.

Sat Dec 31 201101:57Stiemsma plays 16 minutes vs. Pistons
Greg Stiemsma, coming off a six-block game on Wednesday, played 16 minutes on Friday and scored two points with three rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block.
Stiemsma needs to put up a decent line or multi-block performance to keep our attention. The last thing owners need to be doing is watching a low-minute guy that's inconsistent.

Thu Dec 29 201117:41Stiemsma has six blocks in debut
Head coach Doc Rivers decided to give Greg Stiemsma some run in Wednesday's Celtics loss to the Hornets and the big man responded in a big way with six blocks in 20 minutes.
Stiemsma was known as a shot-blocker during his time in the NBA D-League, however, we'd be hard-pressed to see him getting enough minutes on a veteran Celtics team to be fantasy-relevant. We'd probably chalk this one up as a fluke, but it will be interesting to see if Rivers plugs Stiemsma in again any time soon and if he can register any more swats.

Fri Dec 23 201123:21Stiemsma makes the Celtics' final roster
The Celtics will keep center Greg Stiemsma on their final roster according to Scott Schroeder of Ridiculous Upside.
The Celtics are woefully thin at center so the move makes sense, but Stiemsma is likely to ride the pine. If he gains any traction, he'll be a candidate for some blocks and boards and that's about it.
