Omer Asik said on Tuesday that he wants another chance to guard LaMarcus Aldridge in Game 2 on Wednesday.

"The first thing is to stop LaMarcus Aldridge," Asik said. "He killed us almost last game and going into this game, we have to do our best to help him stop a little bit more." Coach Kevin McHale added his team will do some stuff differently and and sounds like he could make some calls on the fly. Aldridge got way too deep in the paint against Terrence Jones quite often in Game 1, so look for the Rockets to use that defensive matchup less.

Rockets coach Kevin McHale said that "it's possible" he'll pair Dwight Howard and Omer Asik for stretches vs. the Trail Blazers.

"We haven't done it a lot lately," he said. "They were effective earlier [this season] at stages, and this might be one of those games where if we're having a heck of a time with Aldridge we might try one of our big centers on him." Terrence Jones will get the first chance to slow Aldridge down, but he struggled with the matchup this season and his success or failure will be a key facet of Houston's first-round matchup.

Omer Asik will not play against the Pelicans on Wednesday.

He's getting some rest tonight as the Rockets prepare for the Blazers in the first round of the playoffs. Donatas Motiejunas will back up Dwight Howard tonight.

Omer Asik put up a double-double vs. the Nuggets on Wednesday with 12 points, 12 boards and one assist in 24 minutes.

Dwight Howard (ankle) wasn't too close to returning tonight, but that could change on Friday vs. the Wolves. Asik owners probably shouldn't make a proactive cut or anything just because he's been filling up the stat sheets. Although, his value will take a massive hit upon Howard's return, so they'll want to check for updates.

Omer Asik had 10 points, 15 rebounds, a steal and two blocks in Tuesday's easy win over the Lakers.

The Lakers are an embarrassment right now and this game was well over by the start of the fourth quarter. Asik was somewhat overshadowed by the strong play of teammate Terrence Jones (33 points, 7 rebounds), but posted a nice line of his own. Dwight Howard may be back in action soon to try to get into game shape for the playoffs, but as long as he's out, Asik is a must-play.

Omer Asik grabbed a career-high 23 rebounds on Tuesday, adding 12 points, one steal and two blocks in a tough road loss to the Nets.

Houston is averaging 110.5 points over the past five games, trailing only the streaking Spurs, but they're defense continues to betray them despite Asik's best efforts. Dwight Howard (ankle) is technically day-to-day but he's not expected to play this week, leaving Asik with a clear path to playing time for at least a few more games.

He'll be the man in the middle for most of the remainder of the season with Dwight Howard (ankle) out for a week or more. Asik isn't a very high-upside guy, but he has played with a chip on his shoulder and is worth owning in standard leagues for owners needing big-man stats.

As expected, he didn't log minutes at power forward and he was right back at his 15.0 minute-per-game average off the bench at 15.0 in 25 games. Asik won't be worth using in most formats while Dwight Howard is healthy.

Dwight Howard is back from his ankle injury and it's likely going to take a big chunk of playing time away from Asik. He was outstanding in his last three games, but the Rockets' style of play really restricts them from running out two centers at once. In other words, don't expect Asik to take minutes away from Terrence Jones.

The Rockets have not missed Dwight Howard (ankle) at all with wins in each of their last three games. Howard could be back as soon as Sunday, so Asik owners should prepare for his minutes to be cut severely. The experiment of him at power forward did not work before and there's little reason to try it again.

Omer Asik made his second start at center on Thursday against the Wolves, scoring 12 points with five boards, three assists and four blocks in 27 minutes.

He made all four attempts from the field, set season highs in blocks and dimes, and did a fantastic job protecting the rim. Asik really came into his own last season with the Rockets and the acquisition of Dwight Howard (ankle) really hurt his chance to shine this year. Howard hopes to play on Saturday, so Asik's fantasy value has a short shelf life right now.

Omer Asik drew his ninth start of the season on Monday vs. the Jazz, scoring a season-high 12 points with 11 boards and one block in 28 minutes.

The Rockets had 58 points in the paint and it allowed Asik to have the first double-double of the season. Dwight Howard (ankle) did not play and his injury was called "mild" by the team, so most signs point to him being ready for Thursday. There's little reason to add Asik based on Monday's solid effort.

Howard's ankle injury doesn't sound serious, so Asik will likely move back to a bench role for Houston's next game on Thursday. He doesn't have a great outlook after tonight due to a low upside.

Omer Asik came off the bench for six points, five rebounds and two blocks in 17 minutes on Wednesday.

Asik, Jordan Hamilton and Donatas Motiejunas are all cutting into the minutes of starter Terrence Jones and the timeshare isn't great news for any of them. All four players are worth keeping an eye on, while it looks like Hamilton could be the best one to own of the bunch.

Omer Asik played 23 minutes and had eight points, seven rebounds and a block in Tuesday's romp over the Kings.

Asik got some extra run with Dwight Howard taking a break early with a knee injury, and could be ready to challenge Terrence Jones for minutes at power forward. It's hard to get too excited about tonight's line given that the Rockets were up 42-17 after the first quarter, but Asik deserves to be on the radar screen in all leagues until further notice.

Though there are no reports citing an imminent move, the possibility exists that Omer Asik could be traded to the Sixers.

We normally wouldn't do this and there was only one lone report about this chance from USA Today earlier in the week, but the Sixers have the ability to absorb his salary and anybody playing in Philly gets the notorious Philly Bump. Asik will have value in most places that he'd be traded to, but with this possibility he becomes a mid-level stash in advance of the trade deadline.

The Rockets have "renewed efforts" to trade Omer Asik, according to CBS Sports, and the 76ers are still "a potential landing spot."

It's almost certain that Philly will make a trade before the deadline since they need to increase their payroll by $5.1 million to reach the league-minimum $52.8 million team salary. Asik's quirky pay-scale might become a sticking point, however, as his salary will jump to $15 million next season and has therefore chased away teams like the Raptors, Nets and Hawks. The Rockets are also said to be demanding a first-round pick, but they'll have to get in line.

Omer Asik returned from a lengthy absence due to a knee injury and failed to score in 11 minutes on Saturday.

He had five rebounds and zero blocks, and while Terrence Jones was awful tonight, we still think he's going to get most of the minutes at power forward, while Asik should back up Dwight Howard at center. With Howard and Jones playing so well, owning Asik should not be a priority for most fantasy owners. Jones was awful on Saturday, but it appeared to just be an off night, which wasn't an impact of Asik's return.
