Mon Nov 18 2013 | 23:57 | Larkin (ankle) debuts for the Mavs |
Rookie PG Shane Larkin (ankle) made his NBA debut on Monday, playing nine minutes on his way to three points, three assists and three steals. |
Larkin is a name to file away and owners should be ready to move on him in the event of a Jose Calderon injury, so long as Larkin can indeed separate from Gal Mekel (six minutes, zero points, two rebounds, zero assists). |

Mon Nov 18 2013 | 19:47 | Shane Larkin is active on Monday night |
Shane Larkin (ankle) is active for Monday night's game against the Sixers. |
He hasn't been in game action as a pro yet because he broke his ankle just before Las Vegas Summer League. Larkin can make plays, but he's a little undersized, so he likely will have some growing pains. He can be left on the wire until he can show us something. |

Mon Nov 18 2013 | 19:04 | Shane Larkin is getting close to debut |
Shane Larkin (ankle) is getting close to a season debut, according to Rick Carlisle. |
He was rumored to possibly play on Monday, but it sounds like that's not going to be the case. Larkin will be a reserve and is unlikley to be in the rotation until he gets acclimated with his new teammates in practice. |

Mon Nov 18 2013 | 14:29 | Shane Larkin (ankle) on verge of returning |
Shane Larkin (ankle) could make his NBA debut as soon as Monday's game vs. the 76ers. |
"It may be [Monday]," said Larkin. "It may be on Wednesday. Maybe Friday. I've just got to talk to the trainer. Whenever they give me the OK is when I'll go." He's been practicing since Nov. 4 and is worth keeping an eye on in deep leagues, in case he overtakes fellow rookie PG Gal Mekel for backup minutes. |

Fri Nov 15 2013 | 18:19 | Shane Larkin getting closer to a return |
Shane Larkin is getting closer to playing in a game, according to coach Rick Carlisle. |
He broke his ankle just before summer league, so he hasn't really had a chance to show his skills on the national stage at the professional level. Gal Mekel has been terrific in the backup role and ranks seventh in assists per 48 minutes, so Larkin's upside would be just a timeshare at backup at best for now. |

Mon Nov 4 2013 | 14:42 | Shane Larkin (ankle) has first NBA practice |
Shane Larkin (ankle surgery) practiced for the first time on Monday and hopes to return within two weeks. |
He went through a full practice but needs to ramp up his conditioning before earning a spot in Rick Carlisle's rotation. He'll likely battle Gal Mekel for backup PG minutes, and the eventual return of Devin Harris (toe) casts another shadow on Larkin's season outlook as a rookie. |

Mon Oct 28 2013 | 17:17 | Shane Larkin (ankle) dunks w/ on-court work |
Shane Larkin (broken ankle) dunked and did on-court work during Monday's practice. |
He didn't actually practice with the team, but clearly his surgically-repaired ankle is almost healed. Gal Mekel will handle backup PG duties until Larkin returns, at which point the Mavs' rookies may engage in a full-blown position battle. |

Wed Oct 23 2013 | 09:17 | Shane Larkin (ankle) still has no return date |
The Mavericks are hopeful that Shane Larkin (broken ankle) will be cleared to play by the regular season. |
There isn't much substance to this update, but it's been nearly a month since we've heard anything about Larkin's timetable. Fantasy owners should view him as being 'out indefinitely'. With Jose Calderon healthy and rookie PG Gal Mekel having the benefit of a full training camp, Larkin will start out as the Mavs' third-string PG. |

Mon Sep 30 2013 | 22:01 | Shane Larkin (ankle) still w/o a timetable |
Shane Larkin (ankle) is still without a timetable to participate in training camp. |
"It's looking like I should be good to return in the middle of training camp, so we'll just see what happens," Larkin said. "There's no positive (return) date, so we'll see what happens." He broke his ankle just before summer camp, so we haven't got a very good look at the 2013 first-round pick. The lack of action suggests he'll need some seasoning before getting some playing time, so he's highly unlikely to be in the rotation to start the year. |

Mon Sep 16 2013 | 13:29 | Shane Larkin (ankle) to be ready for camp |
Shane Larkin (ankle) plans to be ready for Mavericks training camp. |
He broke his ankle back on July 12 and was expected to miss 2-3 months, so he's still right on schedule. The Mavericks have a lot of new parts in their backcourt, so Larkin has his work cut out for him to get minutes in his rookie season. |

Mavericks sign PG Shane Larkin. |
Larkis broke his ankle while practicing for Summer League and he's expected to miss about three months, which would bring him back around training camp in October. The 5'11" PG will battle Gal Mekel for backup minutes behind Jose Calderon, and it's not a recipe for fantasy success. |

Tue Jul 16 2013 | 19:24 | Larkin to miss 3 months after ankle surgery |
Rookie PG Shane Larkin is expected to miss about three months after undergoing ankle surgery on Tuesday. |
That should put him back on the court some time around Oct. 15, which should leave him iffy for the start of the season, as well as get his career off to a slow start. There's no reason to think about drafting Larking in most fantasy leagues this year. |

Fri Jul 12 2013 | 19:29 | Shane Larkin out 2-3 months with broken ankle |
Shane Larkin suffered a broken ankle during practice on Friday and could miss the next 2-3 months. |
Larkin was all set to make a first impression in Las Vegas Summer League and will miss the entire 11-day event. If he misses three months, he'll be be doubtful for the start of training camp and could miss some preseason action. It's a tough way to start his career and Gal Mekel will have even more minutes in Vegas. Although, the addition of Monta Ellis limits the upside of both Larkin and Mekel. |

Fri Jun 28 2013 | 20:09 | Cuban had Shane Larkin a ninth-best player |
Mark Cuban ranked Shane Larkin as the ninth-best player in the 2013 draft class. |
"Our analytics guys had Shane ranked as the ninth-best guy in the draft," Cuban said. "All the guys who worked him out loved him. Coach loved him. So we kind of think we had our cake and ate it too." Cuban is obviously trying to make the right first impression, but Larkin does make a lot of sense for the Mavs. His pick-and-roll skills should translate nicely in Rick Carlisle's system. Carlisle said he sees Larkin as a backup or third-string guard for now, so he'll have to get to work for regular minutes. |
