Tue Dec 24 201318:32Anthony Bennett loses five pounds w/ illness
Anthony Bennett lost five pounds due to his recent illness.
"[The illness] was hard with my asthma," said Bennett, who returned to action on Monday. "My asthma acts up 50 times worse. Getting up and down the court twice would have been terrible. I would have had a hard time breathing." The No. 1 pick came into the season listed at 259 pounds, but he's been trying to lose weight recently and this recent illness has him down to 240 pounds.

Tue Dec 24 201304:13Anthony Bennett scores seven points
Anthony Bennett returned from an illness on Monday in a blowout loss to the Pistons, scoring seven points with two boards on 3-of-7 shooting.
He is shooting 21.2 percent on his jumpers this year and continues to be one of the more disappointing stories of the year. Bennett is currently a liability on both ends of the court and has minimal fantasy value.

Mon Dec 23 201314:49Anthony Bennett is available to play
Anthony Bennett (illness) is available to play on Monday against the Pistons.
There really isn't much to get excited about here and the team might already be regretting their pick of Bennett with the top pick in the draft this past summer. He's shooting just 27.7 percent from the field on the year and has very little appeal in fantasy.

Fri Dec 20 201323:37Anthony Bennett doesn't travel to Chicago
Anthony Bennett (illness) did not travel for Saturday's game in Chicago.
He missed Friday's game with an illness and should be considered questionable for Monday's home game against the Pistons. Bennett has very little fantasy value.

Fri Dec 20 201318:53Anthony Bennett (illness) out on Friday
Anthony Bennett (illness) will not play on Friday vs. the Bucks.
He has trouble with conditioning while he's healthy, so it's not a surprise the Cavs will keep him out of the lineup tonight. Bennett has really struggled in his rookie season and the Cavs will be hoping he's a late bloomer.

Fri Dec 20 201313:00Anthony Bennett a game-time decision Friday
Anthony Bennett (illness) will be a game-time decision for Friday's game against the Bucks.
Bennett and Kyrie Irving are both game-time decisions due to illness Friday night, so there must be something going around the Cavs' facilities. The No. 1 pick of the 2013 draft has only played 7.3 minutes per game in the month of December and is averaging a measly 2.1 points during that span. Whether he plays on Friday or not is rather inconsequential for fantasy owners as he shouldn't be on rosters in anything by the deepest of leagues at the moment.

Mon Dec 16 201308:57Anthony Bennett sheds 12-15 pounds
Anthony Bennett has lost 12-15 pounds since training camp and has been watching videos of himself in the NCAA, in an effort to improve his lackluster play for the Cavaliers.
"I just have to get back to the player I was in college," said Bennett, the No. 1 pick who has already been booed by Cavs fans this season. "I was playing with a smile on my face. It was fun, carefree, running up and down a lot. There's a whole bunch of stuff I can try to get back to." With averages of 2.2 points and 1.9 rebounds per game, we're not anticipating fantasy value from Bennett any time soon.

Sun Dec 1 201309:35Anthony Bennett now playing minutes at SF
Anthony Bennett tied his season-high with 20 minutes played on Friday, and coach Mike Brown even considered starting him at SF before the game.
The fact that Bennett played minutes at SF during the game was itself a surprise. "He hadn't had a lot of reps at [SF] at all, so for us it was an experiment," Brown said. "We may continue to experiment with him there at times. Obviously, it's going to be a work in progress." Bennett has been atrocious and he's shooting 22.4 percent from the field, but that won't stop the Cavs from developing him as the season progresses.

Thu Nov 14 201300:31Anthony Bennett scores six points
Anthony Bennett shot 3-of-11 from the field for six points with five boards in 20 minutes against the Wolves on Wednesday.
He came into tonight's game shooting a pathetic 1-of-21 from the field, so tonight's outing was tremendously above the bar he set for himself. The rookie made mistakes all night and missed a fairly easy layup. Bennett has a long way to go before gaining value in standard leagues and should be left on the wire in almost any situation.

Tue Nov 12 201300:05Anthony Bennett gets rest for shoulder
Anthony Bennett did not play against the Bulls on Monday.
Coach Mike Brown said he wanted to allow the rookie to rest his shoulder. Bennett has been a disaster all season and the team is probably wise to keep him off the court until he's at 100 percent. Brown also hasn't been bashful about Bennett's lack of conditioning, so he may have used this shoulder injury as an excuse. He's not going to be making an impact for a while.

Sat Nov 9 201323:25Anthony Bennett returns from a shoulder issue
Anthony Bennett returned from a shoulder injury on Saturday, playing nine minutes and failing to score on his one shot attempt in nine minutes.
Tonight's game puts him at 1-of-21 from the field on the season. That 4.8 percent is less than the odds of a coin landing on heads four consecutive times. Fantasy owners should probably use their heads and cut Bennett in just about any league.

Sat Nov 9 201318:39Anthony Bennett (shoulder) probable vs. 76ers
Anthony Bennett (sprained shoulder) will play on Saturday.
The team's trainers are still monitoring Bennett, but Mike Brown fully expects to have him available for Cleveland's rematch vs. Philadelphia. Bennett's availability shouldn't have fantasy ramifications considering he's 1-of-20 from the field through six games.

Fri Nov 8 201320:23Anthony Bennett suffers shoulder sprain
Anthony Bennett suffered a sprained right shoulder on Friday and will not return.
He lasted just six minutes against the Sixers before the injury and looked to be in some pain. An X-ray will check for any severe dislocation or some sort of fracture, but he has some sort of injury to the joint with a sprain diagnosis. Bennett's career is off to a bad start and hopefully only has a minor problem and gets a chance to redeem himself soon.

Fri Nov 8 201319:51Anthony Bennett goes to the locker room
Anthony Bennett went to the locker room after suffering an apparent right shoulder injury.
He had offseason surgery on his left shoulder, so this is not an aggravation. Bennett has been a disaster this season for a litany of reason, including a field goal percentage of 5.0 while looking extremely out of shape.

Thu Nov 7 201304:25Anthony Bennett finally makes a shot
Anthony Bennett hit just 1-of-5 shots on Wednesday, but the 3-pointer he hit was the first bucket of his career.
After starting out 0-for-15 in his first four games, he now stands at 1-for-20 after last night's miraculous three. He played 12 minutes and finished with three points, three rebounds, two steals and a block, and hopefully his shots will start falling now that he's got the first one out of the way.

Mon Nov 4 201323:27Bennett still hasn't made a field goal yet
Anthony Bennett's struggles worsened on Monday, as he missed all three of his field goal attempts and had just one rebound, one steal and one block in 10 minutes of action.
Bennett tweeted after the game that he was "going dark," as the No. 1 overall pick is now a combined 0-for-15 from the field through four games. Look for the Cavs to rally around their youngster and a mini-explosion is probably going to come through the pipeline, but the larger issue is that he's not commanding the type of risk-reward ratio that owners are looking for in a standard league stash.

Mon Nov 4 201309:45Anthony Bennett shooting 0-of-12 for Cavs
Anthony Bennett is a combined 0-of-12 from the field through three games, without any assists or blocks to his credit.
This year's No. 1 overall pick is struggling with his conditioning while trying to learn his role as a backup PF in the Cavs' system. It's been an ugly process on both ends of the court, to say the least, and in the short term coach Mike Brown may find it hard to pursue a playoff spot while giving the Cavs' prized rookie much more than his current 13 minutes per game.

Fri Nov 1 201321:59Bennett struggles with his conditioning
Anthony Bennett struggled with his conditioning and finished with just one rebound and one steal in 12 minutes of action on Friday.
Bennett missed all three of his field goal attempts and opposing beat writers were particularly brutal about his weight and conditioning. Though we saw flashes of offensive potential during the preseason, it's a bit disappointing that a No. 1 pick is taking so long to get his feet underneath him. He's not a must-own player right now in standard formats, though he could be useful later in the year.

Thu Oct 17 201322:23Anthony Bennett hits a two 3s, gets praise
Anthony Bennett scored 12 points with four boards, one steal and two 3-pointers on 4-of-4 shooting in 20 minutes on Thursday.
Coach Mike Brown said the sky is the limit for Bennett after he pushes through the fatigue issues. Brown has been a broken record on the conditioning issues, so it's clearly an area of concern. That said, Bennett getting the green light from downtown and his activity on both ends makes him a possible fantasy-friendly guy.
