Stoudemire will rest Friday in preparation for a normal workload Saturday. Just like the rest of the season, he should be deployed as usual Saturday.

Stoudemire (knee) scored 14 points (6-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT) to go along with six rebounds, one assist and one block in 21 minutes Monday against the Pelicans.

Stoudemire was able to put up a decent line considering his limited minutes off of the bench Monday. Stoudemire has the ability to put up the occasional excellent stat line, but his injuries and limited playing time hamper his fantasy value.

He should be back for the Knicks' next game.

Coach Derek Fisher recently expressed that he hopes to get Stoudemire increased rest going forward, and he's acting on that immediately, resting the veteran forward in Sacramento with the team in the midst of a three-games-in-four-nights slate. Stoudemire played 22 minutes against the Wizards on Christmas Day and will likely return to action Sunday in Portland. In the meantime, with Quincy Acy suspended, Travis Wear and Jason Smith should see increased time.

Stoudemire, who sat out the Knicks' previous two games before playing 21 minutes Thursday, has remained healthy this season, missing only three contests while playing over 26 minutes per game. While that's been a pleasant surprise, coach Derek Fisher acknowledged that the heavier workload is beginning to take its toll on the forward. "When his minutes jumped up the past few weeks, his recovery was tougher for him," Fisher said. "Get himself back to being able to give the output he can. The last few days a little bit of soreness, nothing crazy, but just enough for us to be really smart with his history. He wants to get out there. I think we have to help him. We still have 50 games to go." Stoudemire, himself, even admitted that he'll likely work in more recovery days over the season's final 50 games, indicating that he's shooting to play between 68-70 games. That likely means he'll miss one half of certain back-to-back sets, and Fisher also said he'll consider reducing Stoudemire's minutes.

Stoudemire, after taking two games off to rest, returned to the starting lineup Thursday against the Wizards, scoring six points and grabbing seven rebounds in 22 minutes.

Stoudemire didn't play at all during the Knick's road trip over the weekend, and was pretty unimpressive in this Christmas day matchup. Prior to his rest weekend, though, the 32-year-old had scored double-digit points in four straight games and is averaging 14.8 points and 1.9 blocks in December. He could be worth using in most leagues to help pick up blocks in category leagues, and has improved his scoring numbers over last year.
