Wed Jan 8 201422:29David West plays through right hand injury
David West left Wednesday's loss to the Hawks briefly with a right hand injury, but returned to finish the game with eight points, 11 rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block on 4-of-11 shooting.
The injury is to his shooting hand so it is a bit of a concern, but the fact he was able to finish the game is good news. We're not going to put him on the injury report, but owners will want to keep an eye out for news on Thursday in case it's still an issue.

Wed Jan 8 201420:16David West returns from hand injury
David West suffered a right hand injury in the second quarter of Wednesday's game and returned to action.
The injury doesn't appear to be serious and he should be good to go. West has his right hand wrapped and we'll see if it affects his shot tonight.

Sun Jan 5 201421:14David West fills the stat sheet in win
David West filled the stat sheet against the Cavs on Sunday with 11 points, seven boards, four assists, two steals and two blocks in 34 minutes.
Most of his numbers are down, but West is still holding mid-round value in fantasy leagues thanks to season averages of 3.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks. He's still worth owning in standard leagues despite not scoring over 13 points or grabbing more than seven rebounds in any game since Dec. 20.

Sat Dec 28 201322:52David West goes for 10-7-6 in easy win
David West hit 5-of-13 shots for 10 points, seven rebounds, six assists and a steal in Saturday's win.
He's averaging 13.2 points and 3.8 assists over his last five games, but also clocks in with just 4.8 rebounds and 0.2 blocks over that stretch. And that's not going to cut it for a starting fantasy power forward. He'll bounce back at some point, but owners should consider benching him if they have other options.

Sun Dec 8 201300:39David West scores 20 points vs. Spurs
David West shot 9-of-12 from the field for 20 points with eight boards, four assists, three steals and two block in 34 minutes against the Spurs on Saturday.
It was a mid-range jumper kind of night for West with seven of his field goals coming fro 12 feet or deeper. The Pacers were able to rack up 111 points and only 26 of them were in the paint, but the did destroy the Spurs at the line with 26 makes compared to San Antonio's five. West is picking it up over his last four games with 17.5 points per game, so there might be a small sell-high window opening.

Sun Dec 1 201319:50David West goes for 24 points, 12 boards in W
David West scored a season-high 24 points with 12 boards, two assists and one block in 35 minutes against the Clippers on Sunday.
He shot 11-of-22 from the field and tonight was the first time he attempted more than 16 shots in a game this season. West did most of his damage in the paint, which is a little unusual with only 51 percent of his shots coming from that range on the season. He is one of the best jump-shooting power forwards in the NBA, but his scoring is down to 12 points per game from 17 last season.

Sat Nov 23 201322:08David West helps Pacers improve to 12-1
David West's well-rounded line helped the Pacers to their 12th win of the season on Saturday -- he scored 17 points with 11 rebounds, six assists and two blocks.
West made 6-of-11 field goals and 5-of-5 free throws and he's quietly putting together a nice stretch in late November, averaging 14.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.5 blocks in the past four games. He's losing a few minutes per game with Luis Scola coming off the bench, but as long as he's healthy West belongs in all active lineups.

Fri Nov 8 201322:00David West still quiet with just nine points
David West scored just nine points in Friday's 91-84 win over the Raptors to go with five boards, two assists and one steal in 29 minutes.
He is taking just 9.7 shots per game, which is down from the 13.8 from last season. The team has been putting Roy Hibbert more on the ball-side, so consequently West's chances are trending down. He is still worth owning in most leagues, but his 11.2 points per game on the season should definitely be a cause for concern.

Wed Nov 6 201322:52David West double-doubles in Pacers win
David West had 17 points, 13 boards, three steals and a block on 8-of-16 shooting in Wednesday's win over the Bulls.
West struggled on Saturday with four points and three boards in 25 minutes, but had a lot of success against Carlos Boozer and company tonight. Don't look now, but the Pacers are 5-0 and look like the NBA's best team, at least when you add their offensive and defensive numbers together.

Sat Nov 2 201323:11David West quiet in Pacers easy win
David West hit just 2-of-7 shots for four points, three rebounds and two blocks in 25 minutes of Saturday's easy win.
Paul George and Lance Stephenson did the heavy lifting tonight and West just didn't have it. The good news is that he blocked his ninth shot of the season in just three games, and while he's not going to keep up that pace, his season is still off to a pretty good start. Don't panic about tonight's dud, as it was just "one of those nights."

Tue Oct 29 201322:02David West blocks career-high five shots
David West blocked a career-high five shots in 31 minutes against the Magic on Tuesday, while adding 13 points, five boards, three assists and two steals on 4-of-11 shooting.
His offensive game wasn't that great, but his blocks were a nice surprise. West has only been over 1.0 blocks per game just once since entering the NBA in 2003, so we're not quite ready to say he's turning over a new leaf. The team is expected to go to Roy Hibbert more in the post this season, so West may see a slight dip from his 17.1 points per game back in 2012-13.

Tue Oct 22 201321:55David West plays well in win over Hawks
David West hit 9-of-16 shots for 24 points and seven rebounds against the Hawks on Tuesday.
He also had three assists and two steals, but failed to block a shot, as usual. West is slipping in fantasy drafts this year, and was recently taken with the 94th pick in a 30-team expert league draft. His lack of blocks, and age, are causing him to slip, but he's still one of the leaders of the Pacers and should be a nice value pick in fantasy drafts this season.

Wed Oct 16 201311:20David West will be rested vs. Mavericks
David West will be rested for Wednesday's game vs. Dallas.
Roy Hibbert is also getting some precautionary rest, while Paul George is out with a fever. The Pacers play four more preseason games after Wednesday, on Oct. 18, 19, 22 and 25.

Wed Jul 10 201316:26Pacers officially announce David West deal
David West's three-year, $36 million contract became official Wednesday.
It's the first day players can put pen to paper, so the official announcements are flying. West wanted to return to Indy after averaging 17.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists last season. We don't expect West to top those numbers next season, but he should come close to replicating them as the Pacers' starting power forward.

Tue Jul 2 201312:55Pacers, David West finalizing three-year deal
The Pacers and David West are finalizing a three-year, $36 million contract agreement, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The third year is expected to be a player option and $12 million annually sounds about right for the 32-year-old West, who played a big role in the Pacers' march to the Eastern Conference finals. He finished the year averaging 17.1 points on 49.8 percent shooting, with 7.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks, and he's missed an average of just 5.7 games in the past six seasons.

Mon Jul 1 201319:39Pacers won't go into the luxury tax
The Pacers announced that they will not go into the luxury tax "for any reason."
They really don't have to with their young nucleus of Paul George and Roy Hibbert. The Pacers are expected to re-sign David West and despite how many teams could be after him, Indiana should still be able to retain him while remaining under the luxury tax.

Mon Jul 1 201308:41David West sounds like he's staying in Indy
Unrestricted free agent David West said that he's not planning on going anywhere.
"I'm not (expletive) dumb," West said. "I don't plan on going anywhere. This is my team. These are my guys." There's no reason to think that the Pacers aren't going to bring West back and the 32-year-old forward remains their top priority. Fantasy owners can pencil him in for similar production of 17 points and seven boards per game next season.

Thu Jun 13 201310:39Pacers GM: Re-signing David West top priority
Pacers GM Kevin Pritchard said the team's top priority in the offseason is re-signing David West.
West is an unrestricted free agent, but both sides have already expressed a desire to stay together. "He's priority number one," Pritchard said. It shouldn't be too difficult to get a deal done if the two sides can work amicably together as they've done previously.

Tue Jun 4 201316:33West could get $36M on open market?
One Eastern Conference executive believes impending free agent David West could command three years and $36 million on the open market.
The Pacers would be wise to hammer out a new deal with West before July 1 hits. He's not only their leader, but he also averaged 17.1 points and 7.7 rebounds as a pure power forward. However, negotiations could get tricky thanks to West's age (33 in August) and the need to get Paul George locked up with a max-level extension.

Tue Jun 4 201308:15David West can't see himself anywhere else
When asked about his impending free agency, David West said that he "can't see" himself "going anywhere else."
West is integral to what the Pacers do, and with both sides hoping to extend the relationship, it shouldn't take much of an effort to get a new deal done. The real question will be what kind of contract he's aiming for, because it's possible he'll have to take a slight pay cut to remain with the Pacers.
