Sun Sep 26 2021 | 13:25 | Elias Diaz Collects A Pair Of Hits In Loss To San Francisco |
Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double and a strikeout in a 7-2 loss to the Giants on Saturday. Diaz was one of three Rockies' to pick up multiple hits in the lopsided loss. He hit his 18th double of the season and picked up a single as well. The 30-year-old backstop is 15-for-50 (.300/.352/.580) over his last 15 games and swatted three home runs over that span. Overall, he's got a decent .239/.306/.466 batting line with 18 home runs and 42 RBI over 326 at-bats. He's been a decent power source out of the catcher position this season but his rate stats leave a lot to be desired. |

Wed Sep 22 2021 | 00:53 | Elias Diaz Doubles In A Run In Loss To The Dodgers |
Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz went 1-for-5 with an RBI double and a strikeout in a 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. Diaz only came up with one hit in the ball game but it was a clutch one. He delivered a two-out RBI double off of Julio Urias to tie up the contest at 4-4. The game would go into extra innings where the Rockies would eventually lose. Diaz is slashing a lackluster .236/.303/.468 on the season but has posted career-highs in home runs (18) and RBI (41) over his 314 at-bats. He's split time evenly with Dom Nunez behind the plate but has outproduced him at the dish. |

Wed Sep 8 2021 | 22:53 | Elias Diaz Shows Off His Power On Wednesday |
Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two doubles, and a run scored in a 7-4 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. Diaz had a big day at the plate, swatting a pair of doubles and a solo home run. He was the only player on the Rockies to go deep and he hit 2/3 of their extra-base hits in the three-run loss to the Giants. Diaz's power is undeniable with 15 doubles and 16 home runs over 284 at-bats this season. However, those counting stats go along with a lackluster .232/.303/.461 batting line. He's been more productive and consistent than fellow backstop Dom Nunez but he's been hard to roster due to his inconsistency. |

Sun Aug 29 2021 | 13:25 | Elias Diaz Doubles In Saturday's Loss |
Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz went 1-for-3 with a double and a strikeout in a 5-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. The Rockies couldn't get a whole lot going on offense as they collected just three hits as a team. Diaz picked up the only extra-base hit with a double off reliever David Price. The 30-year-old backstop has been hot over the last seven games, slashing .320/.393/.720 with two home runs, four RBI, and nine runs scored. Overall, he's got a subpar .234/.300/.456 batting line with 15 home runs and 34 RBI across 261 at-bats. The counting stats are decent for a catcher that splits time but his rate stats leave a lot to be desired. |

Sun Aug 22 2021 | 11:43 | Elias Diaz Walks It Off On Saturday |
Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz had a big game on Saturday, going 1-for-3 with a three-run homer, two runs scored, a walk, and a strikeout in a 5-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Diaz reached base with a walk and scored via a Garrett Hampson game-tying home run in the eighth inning. He was still hitless heading into the bottom of the ninth when he swatted a walk-off, three-run bomb off J.B. Wendelken to win the ball game for Colorado. Diaz has come clutch multiple times for the Rockies this year and is now up to 14 home runs and 33 RBI on the season. He pairs those counting stats with a lackluster .232/.299/.451 batting line, which makes him hard to roster in standard fantasy leagues. |

Wed Aug 18 2021 | 01:29 | Elias Diaz Doubles And Triples On Tuesday |
Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and two runs scored in a 7-3 win over the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. Diaz collected a pair of extra-base hits with his 10th double of the season and his first triple. No one was on base for his hits, but he scored a pair of runs for his efforts. The 30-year-old backstop is now slashing .229/.293/.442 with 13 home runs and 30 RBI across 240 at-bats this season. He's been useful as a streamer at times this season but he's not an every-game fantasy starter. |

Sun Aug 15 2021 | 20:24 | Elias Diaz Drives In A Run On Sunday |
Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz went 1-for-2 with an RBI single in a 5-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. Dom Nunez started this game behind the plate but Diaz came in as a pinch-hitter to replace him midway through the contest. He put the Rockies on the board with an RBI single off Alex Wood in the seventh inning, which accounted for his only hit of the ball game. The 30-year-old backstop is now batting .223 with a .718 OPS, 13 home runs, and 30 RBI over 233 at-bats on the year. Neither he nor Dom Nunez have been consistent producers this season but Diaz has shown flashes of power at times. |

Wed Aug 4 2021 | 01:13 | Elias Diaz Swats A Grand Slam On Tuesday |
Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, a double, and three runs scored in a 13-6 win over the Cubs on Tuesday. Diaz staked the Rockies an early 4-1 lead with a grand slam off Zach Davies in the bottom of the second inning. He knocked a single and a double and scored two more times in the contest as well. The 30-year-old backstop has homered three times in the last seven games and is up to 12 bombs on the season. He's slashing .222/.290/.438 with 12 home runs, 27 RBI, and 29 runs scored over 203 at-bats. He's a better option for Colorado than Dom Nunez but he's just a two-catcher or deep NL-only player in fantasy. |

Sat Jul 31 2021 | 02:55 | Joey Votto homers for 7th straight game, 1 shy of MLB record |
NEW YORK (AP) — Joey Votto homered for the seventh straight game, one shy of a major league record, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Friday night. Jonathan India went deep twice for the Reds, including a leadoff shot that came on Carlos Carrasco’s first pitch with the Mets. Acquired from Cleveland in January, the veteran right-hander finally made his New York debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. It was an up-and-down day for the Mets, who made a big deal to get Javier Báez from the Chicago Cubs before baseball’s trade deadline — and then revealed injured ace Jacob deGrom will be shut down for two more weeks because of inflammation in his pitching elbow, making it unlikely he’ll rejoin the NL East leaders before September. Báez was acquired from the Cubs along with right-hander Trevor Williams for outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Mets’ first-round pick in the 2020 amateur draft. Báez is expected to join the Mets on Saturday and will play shortstop... [ More] |
