Wed Feb 1 201218:51Maxiell replaces Big Ben at PF for Pistons
Jason Maxiell will start at PF for the Pistons on Wednesday, replacing Ben Wallace.
The Pistons are clutching at straws, but it can't hurt to give Maxiell a shot. It's hard to get excited about his fantasy outlook, however, especially while Jonas Jerebko and Wallace are both healthy. In 14 starts last season, Maxiell averaged 5.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 0.4 steals and 0.5 blocks in 21 minutes.

Fri Jan 27 201223:50Maxiell has season-best night with 19 and 8
Jason Maxiell had a season-best night with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, eight rebounds and a block in 27 minutes on Friday against the Hawks.
This will probably go down as his best statistical performance of the year, and this is much too fluky for owners to give much, if any notice.

Jason Maxiell returned to action on Tuesday February 8.
Tue Feb 8 201118:12Maxiell ready to go on Tuesday
Jason Maxiell (back) will be available on Tuesday night.
Maxiell has missed five of the last six games. If Chris Wilcox (groin) sits, Maxiell has a chance for 15-20 minutes as a banger off the bench.

Sat Feb 5 201120:49Maxiell (back) doesn't make trip to MIL
Jason Maxiell (back) did not make the trip to Milwaukee for Saturday's game against the Bucks, and is targeting a Tuesday or Wednesday return to action.
His absence frees up a few more minutes for Austin Daye and Charlie Villanueva, but with Ben Wallace and Greg Monroe starting together in the frontcourt the overall impact is minimized.

Thu Feb 3 201112:51Maxiell out again
Jason Maxiell (back) has been ruled out of Friday's game against the Nets.
Maxiell is out indefinitely and is a poor bet to get back in the rotation anytime soon.

Wed Feb 2 201118:25Maxiell, Stuckey out for Pistons
Jason Maxiell (back) and Rodney Stuckey (shoulder) are out on Wednesday, Richard Hamilton is active, but still not feeling well due to the flu, and Charlie Villanueva is good to go against the Bobcats.
Maxiell and Stuckey remain day-to-day, and while Hamilton will be active, the fact he says he's still not up to par means he's not likely to play again.

Tue Feb 1 201112:57Maxiell listed as doubtful for Wednesday
Jason Maxiell (back) is listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Mavs.
Maxiell started 14 games earlier this season, but nagging injuries and predictably poor play bumped him from the rotation.

Sun Dec 26 201021:03Jason Maxiell (finger) plays 22 minutes
Jason Maxiell played 22 minutes off the bench on Sunday despite his recently dislocated right middle finger.
Maxiell had the finger taped up, but his injury doesn't improve this line for fantasy owners -- two points, two rebounds, and two blocks.
Thu Dec 23 201009:26Maxiell's X-rays come back negative
Jason Maxiell dislocated a finger on his right (shooting) hand in the second quarter Wednesday's win over the Raptors.
X-rays on Maxiell's finger came back negative. With coach John Kuester playing 10 guys most nights, there's not much upside along the Pistons' front line anyway.

Wed Dec 22 201020:32Maxiell leaves with finger injury, doubtful
Jason Maxiell left Wednesday's game with a finger injury and is doubtful to return.
It's his left middle finger and while this should have minimal fantasy impacts, it should mean more minutes for Greg Monroe.

Wed Dec 8 201001:17Jason Maxiell starts on Tuesday
Jason Maxiell started again on Tuesday, but was predictably ineffective with just four points on 2-of-4 shooting with one rebound, one steal, and one block in 17 minutes.
All Max does is frustrate the Detroit media, the Detroit fans, and who knows, maybe the Detroit players because his presence keeps the lid on Austin Daye. He has no real chance of having fantasy value this season, even if he were to get a full compliment of minutes.
Sun Dec 5 201021:23Jason Maxiell held to 12 minutes
Pistons PF Jason Maxiell played just 12 minutes on Sunday, and was benched (for Ben Gordon) to start the second half.
Maxiell hasn't provided fantasy value in average leagues this season, so any change to his role should be irrelevant. Detroit still needs his bulk and brawn, and it remains to be seen whether he can keep his starting job.
Thu Nov 25 201000:04Maxiell starts, but struggles for Pistons
Jason Maxiell started at power forward again on Wednesday but hit just 1-of-6 shots for two points and four rebounds.
John Kuester's rotation is as big a mess as his team, who is now 5-10 after the loss to the Grizzlies. Rip Hamilton was ejected again, Rodney Stuckey had just one assist and the team has become a fantasy black hole. And in case you're wondering, Austin Daye, who lost the starting PF job, played just six scoreless minutes.
Wed Nov 24 201001:01Maxiell gets a start, goes for 10 and seven
Jason Maxiell got another random start on Tuesday against the Mavs, scoring 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting with seven rebounds and one assist in 30 minutes of action.
He has had two somewhat serviceable lines in a row now, but we're nowhere near recommending owners pick him up. Even if he did it another 2-3 straight times, owners would be faced with the question of when John Kuester will pull the rug from him.
Tue Nov 23 201013:38Maxiell starting again for Pistons
Jason Maxiell will start for the Pistons again on Thursday, raising doubt if Austin Daye will even play.
Maxiell started Sunday and played 36 minutes in a win over the Wizards, so John Kuester is sticking with him. In Maxiell's two starts this season, Austin Daye has not even seen the court. If you can, get Daye out of your lineup.

Sun Nov 21 201021:12Maxiell gets 14 points in start for Pistons
Jason Maxiell had 14 points and five rebounds in 37 minutes on Sunday, starting at PF for the Pistons.
This is representative of what Maxiell does when given minutes -- he can be aptly described as a bulldozing big man. We're assuming his sudden start (and Austin Daye's DNP) was matchup-based, but the whims of coach John Kuester are difficult to anticipate.
Sun Nov 21 201017:17Foye misses practice Sun., questionable Mon.
Randy Foye missed practice on Sunday and is considered questionable to play in Monday's game against the Hornets.
Foye was just beginning to work himself back into game shape after missing 10 games with a strained hamstring. If he can't go, Eric Bledsoe will see more run at the point.

Sun Nov 14 201020:46Jason Maxiell quiet in start for Detroit
Pistons PF Jason Maxiell started Sunday's game and played 27 minutes, but had just five points and seven rebounds in a win over Sacramento.
Detroit won on the road and presumably Maxiell will stick as a starter for at least a few more games. But unless you're in a deep league he's not likely to provide enough value to be worth picking off the waiver wire.
Sun Nov 14 201017:09Maxiell to start on Sunday
Jason Maxiell will make his first start of the season on Sunday against the Kings.
Head coach John Kuester continues playing musical chairs with his starting lineup. This move comes after Maxiell proved instrumental in the Pistons' 113-107 overtime victory against the Clippers on Friday, scoring 11 points with three rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench. Even if Maxiell manages to stick in the starting lineup - and that seems like a long shot considering Kuester's whims - he isn't a fantasy option beyond deeper formats.
