Thu Sep 13 2012 | 09:11 | Timberwolves giving up hope on landing Okur |
Unrestricted FA Mehmet Okur is not an option for the Timberwolves anymore. |
Minnesota had been sniffing around Okur for some time, but the team won't offer him more than the veteran's minimum and he's apparently got no interest in that. For what it's worth, Kenyon Martin is not an option for the team either, but that has never been pegged as a player the team was seriously targeting. |

Mon Sep 10 2012 | 14:46 | Okur's salary demands scare off Real Madrid |
Real Madrid reportedly inquired about free agent Mehmet Okur, but "hung up the phone" when they heard his contract demands. |
Okur has never been a great defender or rebounder, and he has been particularly ineffective since 2010, the result of Achilles surgery and chronic back injuries. He has refused to sign for the veteran's minimum in the NBA and will probably end up signing with a team in Turkey. |

Mon Sep 10 2012 | 10:38 | Report: Galatasaray interested in Mehmet Okur |
Galatasaray is interested in signing Mehmet Okur. |
The Turkish team would make sense for Okur, who actually signed in Turkey during the NBA lockout last season. He really hasn't had a market stateside whatsoever beyond Minnesota's reported interest and it wouldn't be surprising to see him finish his career overseas. |

Wed Sep 5 2012 | 17:03 | Mehmet Okur still on Timberwolves radar |
The Timberwolves still have Mehmet Okur on their radar, but are only able to offer the veteran's minimum at this time. |
Okur has repeatedly said he won't sign for the minimum, so it seems like the Turkish big man and the T-Wolves are playing a game of chicken right now. If Okur is willing to come down on his salary demands Minnesota may be interested, but until then he may need to look overseas to command a bigger paycheck and/or larger role. |

Fri Aug 17 2012 | 19:51 | Minnesota could make an offer to Okur |
The Timberwolves may try to offer Mehmet Okur the veteran minimum. |
The veteran minimum is all the Timberwolves could offer, so they'd have to be considered as an underdog to acquire the Turkish center. Okur dealt with back issues in 2012 and played just 17 games. There's no reason to even think about drafting him. |

Thu Jun 14 2012 | 17:50 | Report: Mehmet Okur heading to Turkey |
The Turkish media is reporting that F/C Mehmet Okur may be returning to Turkey to sign with Fenerbahce Ulker. |
Okur has played a grand total of 30 NBA games over the past two seasons thanks to a bad back and was most recently waived by the Trail Blazers after never playing a game for them. There's still a chance he could end up back in the NBA at some point, but it doesn't appear to be likely. |

Mehmet Okur will be waived by Portland to clear a roster spot for J.J. Hickson. |
Okur wasn't going to play for the Blazers this year, whether or not his back injury even allowed him to play. Hopefully the 32-year-old can get healthy and mount a successful season in 2012-13. |

Mehmet Okur, who hasn't played since Jan. 25 due to a back injury, is heading to Portland in the Gerald Wallace deal. |
We'll have to see if he ever gets healthy again, but the Blazers can always use extra bodies at center. Don't expect to see Okur play again this season. |

A Turkish website reports that Mehmet Okur is done for the season due to his back injury. |
The brief article cites "multiple sources" and this meshes with the Nets' official announcement that Okur is out indefinitely. We're just hoping that his chronic back problems ease up enough for him to play next year. |

Fri Mar 9 2012 | 10:38 | Mehmet Okur out indefinitely with bad back |
Nets announced that F/C Mehmet Okur is out indefinitely. |
That isn't much of an update considering he hasn't played since January 27, but it's clear the team isn't expecting him to return at any point in the near future. He's been an afterthought due to his chronically bad back since being acquired from Utah before the season. |

Thu Mar 8 2012 | 17:45 | No update on Okur |
The Nets have no update on the status of Mehmet Okur (back). |
Okur hasn't played since Jan. 25. The Nets could certainly use the Turkish Tornado with Brook Lopez (ankle) sidelined again, but Okur's back woes are chronic. His name could come up in trade talks thanks to a $10.9 million expiring contract. |

Mon Feb 27 2012 | 19:20 | Mehmet Okur (back) out until at least March 8 |
Mehmet Okur (back) will be out at least until March 8 according to the Nets. |
Okur's back just isn't a good bet to hold up under the stress of basketball activities. He's a guy that needs to prove himself before owners should pay him any attention. |

Mehmet Okur remains sidelined with a sore back. |
"He tried to get on the court a little bit [on Thursday], and shoot a little bit," said Avery Johnson. "It didn't go well. So we're going to hold him out. He'll probably be back, maybe sometime, at the earliest, the middle of next week." |

Tue Jan 31 2012 | 11:30 | Mehmet Okur undergoes 'back procedure' |
Mehmet Okur (back) "had a procedure" and will be sidelined until at least Saturday. |
Back troubles have been persistent for Okur all season. That leaves Johan Petro as the starting center for the Nets, but owners in standard sized leagues shouldn't be viewing him a as a sport-start. He's averaging just 4.2 points and 2.9 rebounds this year and doesn't figure to be an integral part of the offense despite all of the injuries the team is currently dealing with at this time. |

Mon Jan 30 2012 | 10:24 | Mehmet Okur (back) likely out on Tuesday |
Mehmet Okur will see a back specialist in New York on Monday and isn't expected to play on Tuesday. |
A recent MRI came back negative but Okur's chronic back pain simply won't abate. With Brook Lopez possibly returning in a few weeks, there's no reason to be holding Okur at this point. |
