Mon Dec 19 201115:12Mehmet Okur starting for Spurs Monday
Mehmet Okur will join Devin Harris, Raja Bell, C.J. Miles and Al Jefferson in the starting lineup vs. the Blazers on Monday.
Paul Millsap's out with right quadricep tendinitis, while Jefferson is dealing with a sore left hamstring. The fact Okur is starting is a sign that he's fully healthy, while it's also been said that he's been fantastic in camp. We're still not expecting much, but taking a flier on him late in your draft might make sense.

Tue Dec 13 201107:05Mehmet Okur showing impressive conditioning
Mehmet Okur (back) is said to be 100 percent healthy.
"He's been extremely energetic," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said. "(He's) feeling better and better about himself on the floor." This is good news for Okur, but the veteran's playing time is going to be minimal at best. With Al Jefferson, Enes Kanter, Paul Millsap and Derrick Favors all down low, Okur will not have the playing time he once enjoyed with the Jazz. He's not a recommended draft target for owners.

Sat Dec 10 201119:15O'Connor expects Jazz to play it safe w/ Okur
Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor said that he expects the team to "tread lightly" with PF/C Mehmet Okur (Achilles, back).
This is in line with our expectations, but it's worth noting that the organization isn't coming out guns blazing telling us how aggressive the plan on being with him. With the crowded frontcourt situation being what it is, we expect Okur to play a 10-14 minutes per game. If the Jazz have an extraordinary need to stretch the floor one night, they'll bump it up.

Mon Nov 28 201123:32Jazz unlikely to amnesty Okur right away
The Jazz are not expected to immediately use their amnesty provision on Mehmet Okur.
According to beat writer Brian T. Smith, "The Jazz are expected to give Okur another chance to prove that he can play at a high level for an extended period." He returned from Achilles surgery last season but wasn't effective in 13 appearances before chronic back problems ended his season. Utah won't save on the luxury tax by waiving Okur so they might as well see how he fares in a bench role.

Mon Nov 28 201116:40Okur in Turkey until lockout officially ends
Mehmet Okur, who appears to be fairly healthy while playing in Turkey, will not be allowed to exercise his opt-out clause to return to the NBA until the lockout officially ends.
NBA players are still not allowed into team facilities, as the handshake deal is still not official. Once it is, Okur will return to the Jazz, where he will have very little fantasy appeal.

Tue Nov 8 201115:22Mehmet Okur making progress in Europe
Mehmet Okur, who was limited to just 13 games last season due to a ruptured achilles and a back injury, is said to be doing well playing in Turkey.
He continues to "make progress and gain confidence in his game" after his lost season, although with all the big men in Utah, we're not expecting much from Okur this season, even if healthy.

Wed Sep 7 201112:00Mehmet Okur inks contract with Turk Telekom
Mehmet Okur has signed a contract with Turk Telekom.
Okur was previously thought to be negotiating a one-year deal with Fenerbahce Istanbul, but it appears he changed his mind and decided on a different Turkish team. Okur is a Turkish national, so the fit here is rather obvious. He is under contract with the Jazz for one more season, so he will have an out clause in his deal to return to the team if and when the season starts.

Sat Aug 6 201110:10Report: Okur negotiating deal w/ Turkish club
Mehmet Okur is reportedly "negotiating a one-year deal" with the Turkish club Fenerbahce Istanbul.
Any deal would include an 'NBA-out' clause. This could be a good opportunity for Okur, a Turkish national, who played in just 13 games last season due to back and leg injuries.

Fri Jul 22 201117:24Mehmet Okur back in U.S. and 'doing well
Mehmet Okur is back in America and is "doing well" after rehabbing back and leg injuries in Turkey for the past few months.
Okur was ineffective in 13 appearances last season and later admitted that he rushed back from surgery to repair his ruptured Achilles. His size and perimeter shooting should prolong his career, even if his ceiling may now be around 12 points and six rebounds per game.

Fri Mar 25 201109:47Mehmet Okur has no plans to retire
Mehmet Okur, whose season is over due to back and leg injuries, says he has no plans to retire soon.
"I should be OK. I'm not that old. I'm just 32," said Okur. "It's going to be a huge summer for me." He admitted to rushing back from his Achilles injury and his 2010-11 season was basically a waste, but with diligent rehab hopefully he'll return to form next season.

Thu Mar 17 201100:03Mehmet Okur shut down for season
Mehmet Okur has been shut down for the season due to a back injury.
His season was in doubt early due to a ruptured achilles, and while he briefly returned from that, his back injury will shut him down. He's a major injury concern again next season, and with Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap on hand, he should have very little, if any, fantasy value.

Okur hasn't played in a game since Jan. 28. Even if/when he returns, he figures to have an extremely limited impact.

Sun Mar 13 201100:56Okur does not play on Saturday vs. Bulls
Mehmet Okur did not play against the Bulls on Saturday, and is day-to-day with his ongoing back injury.
Despite Paul Millsap's absence due to a knee injury, there are too many obstacles for Okur to overcome before he will have any value, including conditioning and the availability of minutes when Millsap returns.

Fri Mar 11 201112:21Mehmet Okur out Friday w/ back injury
Mehmet Okur won't play on Friday and remains day-to-day with his ongoing back injury.
Okur felt sore after a hard workout on Thursday, but in any case fantasy owners shouldn't be expecting him to have any value.

Thu Mar 10 201116:21Okur getting closer?
Beat writer Brian Smith notes that Mehmet Okur (back) has looked good the last couple days and could be a close to a return.
There is no official word on Okur, and we're grown very skeptical of the his ability to get healthy. We'd make him play 25-28 minutes in an actual game before we even considered an add. Note that he is listed as out for Friday.

Mon Mar 7 201118:33Okur unsure about playing during team trip
Mehmet Okur (back) shared that he is uncertain if he will play during the current Jazz road trip.
It's a shame because he has four games this week. Check back to see if he will go but don't be surprised if Okur is shut down another week.

Mon Mar 7 201111:05Jazz thin in front court with injury issues
The Jazz will be very thin in their front court due to injuries to several key players.
The Jazz have already declared Mehmet Okur, Francisco Elson, and Kyrylo Fesenko out Monday night. Andrea Kirilenko and Paul Millsap remain game time decisions as well. This means that Al Jefferson and Derrick Favors should see extra run.

Wed Mar 2 201114:16Okur cleared for increased activity
Mehmet Okur (back) has been cleared for increased on-court activity.
Good news that he's making progress, but there's still no timetable for his return and he should remain on waivers outside of extremely deep fantasy leagues.

Tue Mar 1 201112:29Okur to see the doc on Tuesday
Mehmet Okur (back) will see a doctor on Tuesday in hopes of being cleared to return to practice.
Okur hasn't even been running, jumping or shooting during his latest absence. He is an extreme longshot for a real role at any point this season.

Fri Feb 25 201112:38Okur still isn't traveling w/ Jazz
Mehmet Okur (back) still is not traveling with the Jazz.
Okur's chronic back problems don't seem to be getting any better, and fantasy owners should move on to healthier alternatives. He was expected to miss at least three weeks back on Feb. 9, so it's possible that he'll return to action in early March.
