Wed Feb 9 201115:18Okur to remain out at least three weeks
Mehmet Okur (back) is expected to miss at least the next three weeks.
At this point, we don't even see much reason to hang onto Okur in deeper fantasy leagues. Given all his injury woes, the chances of him producing any notable numbers this season are becoming increasingly remote.

Sat Feb 5 201120:28Okur (back) will not travel to Sacramento
Mehmet Okur (back) will not travel to Sacramento for Monday's game against the Kings, and has not timetable for his return.
He had no real value as he returned to action a few weeks back, so needless to say this setback kills what little value he had.
Fri Feb 4 201114:00Mehmet Okur (back) doubtful for Saturday
Mehmet Okur (back) is doubtful to play vs. the Thunder on Saturday.
Okur didn't even travel for Friday's game in Denver, his 10th consecutive DNP.

Thu Feb 3 201118:05Okur not traveling for Friday's game
Mehmet Okur (back) will not travel with the Jazz for Friday's game against the Nuggets.
Okur will stay behind and get continue to rest his aching back. Not even a cortisone injection seems to be helping him.

Thu Feb 3 201109:40Okur takes a shot, still out indefinitely
Mehmet Okur (back) admitted that he is still in constant pain.
Okur has missed nine games already because of his back and isn't going to rush this time. He took a cortisone injection Saturday and is still waiting for it to kick in. Okur is a poor bet to play real minutes at any point this season.

Wed Feb 2 201112:56Okur out again Wednesday
Mehmet Okur (back) is out for Wednesday's game against the Rockets.
Okur hasn't played more than 16 minutes in a game this season. Between the Achilles surgery and these back woes, Okur's chances of making a real impact this year are minimal.

Mon Jan 31 201114:40Mehmet Okur doubtful w/ sore back
Mehmet Okur (back) is doubtful to play for Utah on Monday.
Okur hasn't been worth starting in fantasyland anyway, but this is another blow to the reeling Jazz, who are also expected to be without Deron Williams (wrist). There will be a few more minutes for Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, and Kyrylo Fesenko.

Sat Jan 29 201112:43Okur (back) out Sunday, iffy for Monday
Mehmet Okur (strained lower back) received an epidural on Saturday morning. He won't play Sunday but is a game-time decision vs. the Bobcats on Monday.
Okur didn't even travel with the team to face the Warriors. His back issues aside, he's playing too few minutes (averaging 13 per game) to be worth owning in most fantasy formats.

Fri Jan 28 201122:21Mehmet Okur leaves with back injury
Mehmet Okur left Friday's game with a lower back strain and will not return.
He can't stay healthy or find minutes, making him a useless fantasy option this year.

Mon Jan 17 201109:20Mehmet Okur slowly returning to form
Mehmet Okur shot just 1-of-7 in his second game back from a lower back strain on Friday night, but Jerry Sloan said afterward, "He's coming along just fine."
"I don't get too involved with it," said Sloan, who has a well-known hands-off approach to injured players. "We're going to try and play him and move him along as we can and still try to be cautious about it." His minutes are a slow work in progress and he isn't likely to regain a starting job this year, so view him with skepticism.

Fri Jan 14 201112:42Okur remains on a minute cap
Mehmet Okur will likely not play more than 20 minutes Friday, according to coach Jerry Sloan.
Okur continues to gradually work his way into form. He looked as healthy as he has this season on Wednesday night, even getting a dunk to go down. Look for 13-17 minutes tonight off the bench.

Thu Jan 13 201101:27Mehmet Okur returns from back injury
Mehmet Okur played 12 minutes and scored 10 points in Wednesday's win after missing a couple weeks with a back injury.
He's worth keeping an eye on, but we doubt he's worth picking up in fantasy as long as his teammates are healthy.
Wed Jan 12 201116:34Okur to play 5-6 minutes in first half
Updating an earlier blurb, Mehmet Okur (back) will return for Wednesday's game and is expected to play 5-6 minutes in the first half.
Earlier news indicated that Okur would play just 5-6 minutes for the whole game, but in reality he'll play 5-6 in the first half and see how he's feeling after that. Either way, Okur is a backup as long as Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson are healthy and belongs on waivers in most leagues.

Wed Jan 12 201113:17Okur to play limited minutes Wednesday
Mehmet Okur (back) is expected to play on Wednesday, but says he'll only be on the court for 5-6 minutes.
Some owners seem to be holding out hope for value from Okur this season, but given his trouble getting healthy and with Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap locked in as starters, it's hard to picture an Okur resurgence happening.

Wed Jan 12 201112:43Okur remains a game-time decision
Mehmet Okur (back) remains a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against the Knicks.
If Okur plays, it will likely be for mere spot minutes. His body has broken down each time he has attempted a comeback this season.

Mon Jan 10 201112:18Mehmet Okur to practice on Monday
Mehmet Okur will practice through his back injury on Monday and is questionable for Wednesday against the Knicks.
We're guessing he'll play in that one given that he'll have a few days off beforehand, but that doesn't mean he's worth using in fantasy leagues. In other Jazz news, Jerry Sloan has been contemplating a starting lineup change, with C.J. Miles or Gordon Hayward possibly getting the nod, but can't seem to make up his mind on it.

Wed Jan 5 201119:51Okur's MRI show no significant damage
Mehmet Okur's MRI on his back didn't reveal any significant damage and he's listed as day-to-day.
He won't play on Wednesday, but this is good news for Okur and the Jazz. And maybe it's good news for his fantasy owners too, but we're not expecting much of Okur this season.

Wed Jan 5 201113:04Okur (back) won't play on Wednesday
Mehmet Okur (back) is out for Wednesday's game against the Hawks.
This will mark the fourth straight game that Okur hasn't played, and there's no reason at this point that he needs to be on rosters in standard-sized fantasy leagues.

Tue Jan 4 201112:28Okur considered day-to-day
Mehmet Okur (back) participated partially in Tuesday's practice and is considered day-to-day.
With Paul Millsap (hip) also hurting, Okur has a chance for significant minutes against the Hawks Wednesday. But he's nowhere near 100 percent after dealing with both back and ankle issues since his return from Achilles surgery. Neither fantasy owners nor the Jazz can trust Okur right now.

Mon Jan 3 201112:47Mehmet Okur ruled out for Monday
Mehmet Okur will not play on Monday as he recovers from his recent back ailment.
Okur's back has given him trouble for years. He received two pain-killing shots but obviously needs a bit more rest -- he was still working his way into shape in a bench role and shouldn't be missed in fantasy lineups.
