Sun Jan 2 201112:18Mehmet Okur doubtful for Monday
Mehmet Okur is still awaiting results of his back MRI and is listed as doubtful for Monday.
Results aren't due until Monday, so he doesn't sound likely to play in that one.

Sat Jan 1 201113:05Mehmet Okur doubtful to play Saturday
Mehmet Okur (lower back strain) is doubtful for Saturday's game against Memphis.
Okur was starting to find a bit of a rhythm off Utah's bench when he suffered this injury. His presence or absence should not impact fantasy lineups.
Thu Dec 30 201009:56Okur's status unknown for Thursday
Mehmet Okur (back) will be re-evaluated prior to Thursday's game against the Blazers.
Okur's return from that Achilles tear has been rocky. He sprained an ankle and now has been dealing with this sore back. Look for the Jazz to give the Turkish Tornado some time to rest up.

Thu Dec 30 201001:53Okur scores 13, injures back in win
Mehmet Okur came off the bench for 13 points, three rebounds and a 3-pointer on 4-of-10 shooting, but played just 16 minutes before leaving with a back injury.
It's being classified as a strained back and he's having X-rays taken, which is not a great sign. Consider him day-to-day again, until further notice.

Tue Dec 28 201000:13Mehmet Okur returns from ankle injury
Mehmet Okur returned from an ankle injury on Monday and had six points and five rebounds in 17 minutes.
He's inching his way back to form after a devastating achilles injury and could get extra run the rest of the week if Andrei Kirilenko's strained back keeps him out. We're not huge Okur fans this season, but he could be worth owning if a player like Kirilenko goes down for an extended period of time.
Thu Dec 23 201018:35Mehmet Okur (ankle) expected to play Monday
Mehmet Okur (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Blazers on Monday.
Okur is logging around 15 minutes per game and won't exceed that mark by much in the near future, making him irrelevant in average fantasy leagues.

Wed Dec 22 201011:44Okur out Wednesday
Mehmet Okur (ankle) will not play against the Wolves.
There is no reason to force Okur into the lineup. He's coming off major Achilles surgery and is still working his way into game shape. Look for the Turkish Tornado to hover around 15-18 minutes nightly once he gets back in the lineup.

Tue Dec 21 201009:44Okur listed as day to day
Mehmet Okur (ankle) is officially listed as day-to-day.
This right ankle sprain is not directly related to the left Achilles rupture that cost Okur the first quarter of the season. He was in a walking boot Monday night, making it unlikely he'll play Wednesday. It's a reminder that Okur needs to be eased back into action very slowly.

Mon Dec 20 201017:44Mehmet Okur out with right ankle sprain
Mehmet Okur will miss Monday's game after spraining his right ankle in a pre-game workout.
His achilles injury was to his left leg, which is the only good news in a situation that will leave him day-to-day.

Mon Dec 20 201017:20Mehmet Okur injured in pregame workout
Mehmet Okur appeared to tweak something in Monday's pregame workout and went to the locker room.
It could be his achilles or it's possible he injured something else while overcompensating for that injury. In any case, he shouldn't be in fantasy lineups until he starts logging heavy minutes (and proves he's healthy).

Sun Dec 19 201001:33Okur feels better in second game
Mehmet Okur said he felt better in his second game back, and logged 13 minutes on his way to three points on 1-of-5 shooting, one rebound, no assists, and one block.
He had no setbacks other than a minor thigh bruise, and is on his way to getting back on his feet. We're not rushing out to pick him up, but we'll be watching to see where he levels out.

Sat Dec 18 201000:30Mehmet Okur returns with a thud
Mehmet Okur made his season debut for the Jazz on Friday, finishing with two points and zero rebounds in 11 minutes.
They're going to bring him back slowly from a ruptured achilles, so don't expect too much from him. He's also not likely to crack the starting lineup this season, which is a reason we're not dying to run out and pick him up.
Fri Dec 17 201012:56Mehmet Okur to make season debut Friday
Mehmet Okur will return from his Achilles surgery vs. the Hornets on Friday, playing limited minutes off the bench.
It will take Okur a while to get back to speed, and with Al Jefferson in Utah his fantasy appeal has taken a major hit. Still, he's a quality 3-point shooter and is worth watching -- especially in deep fantasy formats.
Wed Dec 15 201016:10Okur to make road trip, unclear if he'll play
Mehmet Okur (Achilles) will travel with the Jazz on their upcoming road trip, but it's uncertain if he'll play.
Okur was spotted playing 2-on-2 on Tuesday, but says that he's only taken part in one scrimmage in the last eight months. In other words, even if he does play on the upcoming trip -- which isn't guaranteed -- don't expect him to be in game shape right away. Couple that with a likely role off the bench behind Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap, and we still don't see him as a must-add right now in standard-sized leagues.

Mon Dec 13 201013:08No timetable for Mehmet Okur (Achilles)
Jazz GM Kevin O'Connor said Monday that there is still no timetable for Mehmet Okur's return from Achilles surgery.
O'Connor said that team president Randy Rigby "got a little excited" after recently watching Okur practice, as Rigby was hoping to see Okur play within two weeks. He's bound to have ups-and-downs when he does get back, and is looking at a bench role, so we recommend a wait-and-see approach.

Mon Dec 13 201006:15Mehmet Okur could return in a week or two
Mehmet Okur could return to action during Utah's pre-Christmas roadtrip, after missing nearly eight months following Achilles surgery.
"We think it's a matter of maybe a week, hopefully, that we're gonna see him close to action," said Jazz president Randy Rigby. "So, I'm optimistic that within a week to two weeks...we see Memo back on the court." Okur has been practicing with the team, including scrimmages, and will likely join the second unit when he returns.
Fri Dec 10 201019:29Okur 'close to a return' by month's end
Andrei Kirilenko said that Mehmet Okur (Achilles) is "very close (to return)" and is hoping to return by month's end.
That's not exactly very close, and the jury is still out on whether or not he can produce enough in limited minutes to get the job done in fantasy leagues. He'll probably be worth an add, if anything, because of his upside, but it's still too early to grab him in standard leagues.

Wed Dec 8 201016:17Okur 'on schedule,' but return 'not imminent'
According to beat writer Brian T. Smith, Mehmet Okur is "on schedule with rehab... but [his] return is not imminent."
Smith adds that Okur is likely to increase activity next week, but given his uncertain timetable and the fact that he's likely to play a backup role when he does return, we're inclined to leave him on waivers in standard-sized leagues for now.

Tue Dec 7 201009:43Sloan won't say if Okur will start
Coach Jerry Sloan declined to say if Mehmet Okur (Achilles) will start or come off the bench upon his return.
Okur still doesn't appear close to game action, so there's nothing to worry about yet. Considering the severity of Okur's injury, how well Paul Millsap is playing and Utah's 16-6 record, we fully expect the Turkish Tornado to play a limited bench role.

Thu Dec 2 201014:48Mehmet Okur still without firm return date
Mehmet Okur won't give an expected return date, but he has increased his workouts to twice a day and said his Achilles is 100% healed.
Okur is rebuilding the muscle and mobility of his left leg, and wants to regain full motion on his inside moves before he returns. It might be worthwhile to stash him on your bench, but he's unlikely to be anywhere near his old self this season.
