Thu Dec 1 2011 | 20:13 | David DeJesus likely to lead off for Cubs |
David DeJesus is expected to lead off for the Cubs. |
DeJesus, 31, has a decent .356 career on-base percentage and also possesses adequate speed for the leadoff role. His power numbers should rise with the move from Oakland's ballpark to Chicago's, and he'll get another kick in fantasy value if he indeed hits atop the Cubs' batting order throughout the 2012 campaign. |

Wed Nov 30 2011 | 12:37 | Cubs sign OF DeJesus to two-year, $10M deal |
Cubs signed OF David DeJesus to a two-year, $10 million contract with a club option for 2014. |
While DeJesus figures to serve as the starting right fielder next season, the Cubs could have more flexibility if they find a taker for Alfonso Soriano. The 31-year-old is coming off a down season, but has a .284/.356/.421 career batting line and has the reputation as a solid defender. It's a nice buy-low signing by the Cubs' new front office. |

Wed Nov 23 2011 | 14:25 | A's offer arbitration to David DeJesus |
David DeJesus was offered arbitration by the Athletics. |
DeJesus, who turns 32 next month, earned $6 million this season while batting .240/.323/.376 with 10 home runs, 46 RBI and a .698 OPS over 506 plate appearances. While the A's would receive a sandwich pick if he declines and signs with another team, there's a decent chance he could accept. |

Mon Sep 26 2011 | 21:36 | David DeJesus (hip) not in Monday's lineup |
David DeJesus (hip) is out of Monday's lineup against the Mariners. |
DeJesus is day-to-day after leaving Sunday's game with a right hip contusion. The 31-year-old impending free agent is batting just 237/.321/.374 with 10 homers, 46 RBI and a .696 OPS over 502 plate appearances this season. |

Sun Sep 25 2011 | 17:39 | DeJesus left Sunday's game with hip contusion |
David DeJesus left Sunday's game in the seventh inning with a right hip contusion. |
Michael Taylor entered the game as a pinch-hitter and remained to play right field. DeJesus was 1-for-2 prior to exiting and is currently batting just .237/.321/.374 on the year. Consider him day-to-day, though the A's may just shut him down with three games left to play. Right now, DeJesus is projected as a Type-B free agent, but the A's probably won't want to risk offering him arbitration since there's a good chance he'd accept after his lousy 2011 campaign. He might have a tough time finding a starting job if he's set free over the winter. |

Fri Sep 16 2011 | 13:56 | DeJesus a Type-B free agent |
David DeJesus is currently projected as a Type-B free agent. |
That means DeJesus would earn the A's a supplemental draft pick if he's offered arbitration and declines. Of course, the A's probably won't want to risk offering DeJesus arbitration since there's a good chance he'd accept after batting just .233/.318/.367 (so far) this season and is only three months shy of his 32nd birthday. He could have a hard time finding a starting job this offseason. |

Tue Aug 9 2011 | 20:23 | Report: DeJesus, Young go on waivers |
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that both David DeJesus and Delmon Young have been placed on waivers. |
Tons of players are placed on waivers at this time of the year, but neither DeJesus ($6 million salary this season) or Young ($5.375 million) are likely to be claimed, and there's at least a small chance that either could be dealt. DeJesus has heated up at the plate the last couple days. |

Sat Aug 6 2011 | 22:16 | DeJesus homers twice, A's top Rays |
David DeJesus homered twice in Saturday's 8-0 shutout against the Rays. |
A's starter Brandon McCarthy did his part, hurling eight innings of scoreless ball and issuing zero walks. DeJesus now has seven homers and 32 RBI on the season. |

Wed Aug 3 2011 | 15:18 | DeJesus (thumb) likely to return Friday |
David DeJesus (thumb) is likely to return to the starting lineup Friday against the Rays. |
DeJesus' thumb feels good, but Athletics manager Bob Melvin told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle that he's "not really letting it go" in batting practice. Once he gets over the mental hurdle, Melvin will put his name on the lineup card. |

Wed Aug 3 2011 | 13:31 | DeJesus (thumb) not in Wednesday's lineup |
David DeJesus (thumb) is out of the Athletics' lineup for the fourth straight day Wednesday. |
DeJesus was hoping to return Wednesday, but apparently his right thumb isn't 100 percent quite yet. Ryan Sweeney will take his place in right field again and bat eighth against left-hander Charlie Furbush. |

Thu Jul 21 2011 | 12:20 | Pirates have discussed A's DeJesus |
According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, the Pirates have "talked internally" about pursuing Athletics' outfielder David DeJesus. |
He would likely come cheaper than Josh Willingham, but there's a reason for that. DeJesus has had a miserable season, batting just .229/.319/.342 with five homers and 25 RBI over 325 plate appearances. It's not clear if the Pirates plan to follow up aggressively with Oakland. |

Thu Jun 30 2011 | 18:39 | David DeJesus scores twice |
David DeJesus went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored Thursday against the Marlins. |
DeJesus desperately neeeded a decent game with Josh Willingham coming back this weekend. He's lost a lot of playing time of late, and even though we think it's still pretty clear that he's one of Oakland's top three outfielders, Bob Melvin isn't so sure. |

Wed Jun 22 2011 | 17:41 | DeJesus sitting for second straight game |
David DeJesus is out of the A's lineup for a second straight game Wednesday against the Mets. |
Even with Josh Willingham sidelined by an Achilles injury, DeJesus can't get a look in the A's interleague outfield rotation. Hideki Matsui is playing left field and Ryan Sweeney is manning right on Wednesday night. DeJesus, 31, has hit just .229/.313./358 in his first 63 games with Oakland. He's not a fantasy option. |

Wed May 25 2011 | 02:03 | David DeJesus homers twice in win |
David DeJesus went 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBI Tuesday against the Angels. |
DeJesus has two two-homer games and no one-homer games this season. His struggles have gotten him dropped in Oakland's order as the team looks for some sort of combination that will consistently produce runs. DeJesus, though, figures to settle back into the second or third spot in the lineup pretty soon. |

Thu May 19 2011 | 00:47 | David DeJesus goes 0-for-5 |
David DeJesus went 0-for-5 on Wednesday, snapping his 25-game hitting streak in games against the Twins. |
DeJesus had been playing very well of late, too, having hit .279/.392/.581 in 13 games this month. He just couldn't make it happen tonight. |

Thu May 5 2011 | 00:47 | Athletics' DeJesus hits first two homers |
The struggling David DeJesus hit his first two homers Wednesday against the Indians. |
Both came off Josh Tomlin and they came on a night on which the Indians mustered only three hits in all. DeJesus entered with a .227/.303/.258 line in 97 at-bats this season. The A's badly need him to get it going so that they have more guys on base for the heart of the order. |
