Mon Dec 27 201016:01Brewers ink RHP Takashi Saito to 1-year deal
Brewers signed RHP Takashi Saito to a one-year deal.
The contract could be worth the $3.2 million he earned last year with the Braves through appearance and roster bonus incentives. Saito will be 41 on opening day. He posted a a 2.83 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, .203 opponents' batting average, and 69/17 K/BB ratio in 54 innings over 56 appearances this past season in Atlanta. The veteran right-hander will set up John Axford in Milwaukee and will be someone to keep an eye on in fantasy. If Axford's control falters next season, chances are good that Saito -- who saved 81 games over three seasons for the Dodgers -- could take over as closer.

Sun Oct 10 201016:44Braves activated RHP Takashi Saito
Braves activated RHP Takashi Saito.
Saito missed most of September with an inflamed shoulder and was left off the Braves' NLDS roster for the same reason. He's recently tossed bullpen sessions without discomfort, so perhaps he's ready to contribute, but Atlanta will be taking a big risk if it places him in a high-leverage situation on Sunday. There's just no way to know right now how close he is to 100 percent.
