Jim Edmonds (shoulder) remained out of the lineup on Sunday.
Edmonds injured his right shoulder while diving for a ball against the Angels in Anaheim last week. He hasn't played since Wednesday. "When he follows through [on his swing], he has pain," Brewers manager Ken Macha said. Macha is aiming for a return later this week.

Brewers activated OF Jim Edmonds from the 15-day disabled list.
Edmonds has missed the last two weeks due to a left oblique strain. He took batting practice over the weekend and was cleared to return on Monday morning. He'll resume a prominent backup role in the Milwaukee outfield.

Edmonds has been sidelined since May 15 due to a left oblique strain. He plans to take batting practice on Friday. "That's encouraging," said Brewers manager Ken Macha. "He's feeling optimistic, so I trust Jimmy because he let me know at the beginning of the year. He said, 'I'll be ready.'"

Brewers placed OF Jim Edmonds on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 16, with a left oblique strain.
Oblique injuries don't heal all that quickly in 39-year-old bodies, as Edmonds and the Brewers figured out this weekend. He is batting .280/.362/.462 in 27 games this season and should only miss about two weeks.

Edmonds sat out Sunday's game after suffering the injury on a check-swing in the second inning of Saturday's game. Brewers manager Ken Macha said he would only be available as a pinch-runner during Monday's game against the Reds. Jody Gerut started in center field.

Jim Edmonds was lifted from Saturday's game in the third inning with a left oblique strain.
Edmonds has battled a back injury all month but has so far avoided the disabled list. Perhaps this oblique injury will prove more serious. Jody Gerut stepped in to play center field. Edmonds was 0-for-1 on the afternoon.

Jim Edmonds (back) is in the Brewers' lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers for the first time in a week.
Edmonds was injured while running the bases last Wednesday. He will face Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley, who has allowed a .383 batting average to left-handed hitters, in his return to action tonight.

"The health report says it hurts him more when he's throwing. He may be able to pinch-hit [Sunday]," manager Ken Macha said. Edmonds tweaked his back while stealing a base in the bottom of the 13th inning against the Pirates on Wednesday and has been out since. Carlos Gomez is still sidelined with a knee injury, so Jody Gerut started in center field for a second consecutive day on Sunday. Gomez is expected to return on Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Edmonds tweaked his back while stealing a base in the bottom of the 13th inning against the Pirates on Wednesday. "[Head trainer] Roger [Caplinger] took him in the cage to get some swings," said Brewers manager Ken Macha. "Then he took him back in the training room and was going to let me know. Him going into the cage and taking some swings is encouraging." Jody Gerut would likely play center field if Edmonds or Carlos Gomez are unable to play this weekend.

Jim Edmonds "tweaked" his back during the Brewers' 14-inning loss to the Pirates Wednesday and is considered day-to-day.
Edmonds may have injured the back on a slide into home plate in the bottom of the 13th inning. "When he came back in, he told Roger [Caplinger, the team's head athletic trainer] that he was hurt," Brewers manager Ken Macha told MLB.com on Wednesday night. "I didn't think the ball beat him. Maybe a little 'jar' of the catcher, and he doesn't catch it."

Jim Edmonds is starting in center field, replacing Carlos Gomez, and batting second Sunday against the Cardinals.
Edmonds is 5-for-15 in his career against Cardinals starter Chris Carpenter, while Gomez has never faced the veteran, both facts that swayed manager Ken Macha.

Wed Apr 7 201017:11Edmonds scores twice in Brewers' victory
Jim Edmonds went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored as the Brewers edged the Rockies 5-4 on Wednesday.
Milwaukee bounced back to win two out of three after losing the series opener to the Rockies. The bullpen was the big story today, as six relievers combined to allow just two hits over five scoreless innings. Edmonds was the only Brewer with multiple hits, and he came around to score twice, both on non-hits from George Kottaras. The backup catcher knocked in Edmonds with a groundout in the fourth and with a sac fly in the sixth.

Jim Edmonds is back in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
Corey Hart was in the lineup against southpaw Greg Smith on Tuesday. Edmonds will bat fifth and play right field against Aaron Cook. He is 9-for-16 (.563) with three homers and seven RBI against Cook during his career.

Corey Hart is out of the lineup with Edmonds batting fifth behind Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder. Edmonds is 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple lifetime against the Rockies' Opening Day starter, Ubaldo Jimenez. Hart is 1-for-6 in his career against the Colorado right-hander.
