Fri Dec 10 2010 | 19:27 | Mets looking at Reed Johnson for bench spot |
The New York Daily News' Andy Martino reports that the Mets are eying Reed Johnson for a bench spot. |
Johnson hit .262/.291/.366 with two homers over 202 at-bats for the Dodgers this past season. He dealt with back problems for a good chunk of the season and missed a lot of the previous year with a broken foot. When healthy, Johnson offers an option against left-handed pitching (career .312 average), as well as the ability to play all three outfield spots. |

Wed Jul 28 2010 | 21:23 | Dodgers' OF Johnson throws, swings |
Reed Johnson threw in the Dodger outfield and took some swings in the cage on Wednesday evening. |
Johnson is supposed to run tomorrow and could be close to a rehab assignment. He will also return to a crowded outfield with Scott Podsednik now in the fold. This means that the end is nigh for Garret Anderson, and that Johnson's meager fantasy value is probably out the window as well. |
