Spurs sign G/F James Anderson.
As expected. Anderson will get a non-guaranteed deal and will likely be cut loose once the Spurs get healthier on the wing.

Tue Nov 20 201213:34James Anderson joining Spurs from D-League
The Spurs will call up James Anderson from the D-League.
Anderson, a former first-round pick of the Spurs, had been playing in the D-League after the Hawks waived him in training camp. He's not a candidate to come into sudden fantasy value.

Sat Oct 27 201219:30Hawks waive former first-round pick Anderson
The Hawks waived former first-round pick James Anderson on Saturday.
Anderson never found his NBA niche after being drafted No. 20 overall in 2010 -- he's averaged 3.7 points on 38 percent shooting in his brief career. Atlanta decided to keep veteran Anthony Tolliver around for a while longer, at least, bringing their roster to 14 players.

Mon Aug 27 201213:01James Anderson to accept Hawks camp invite
James Anderson, who was the No. 20 overall pick of the 2010 draft, has accepted an invite to the Hawks veteran's camp.
Anderson was pegged as a scorer coming out of college, but he really never showed much during his tenure with the Spurs and has career averages of just 3.7 points and 1.3 rebounds on 38 percent shooting. It's troublesome that the best Anderson could do was a camp invite considering he's just 23 years old and was a first-round pick two years ago.

Sat Aug 25 201208:00James Anderson to sign w/ Atlanta Hawks?
Former Spurs guard James Anderson may be on the verge of signing with the Hawks, according to a Tweet from ex-teammate Danny Green.
"Got to show love n shout my guy [James Anderson] out for the new deal with Atlanta," wrote Green. "Congrats man! Bright future ahead." Anderson averaged just 12 minutes per game last season, and as noted by the San Antonio Express-News he has a very poor career 49.7 'true shooting' percentage.

Mon Jul 16 201208:15James Anderson hoping to return to Spurs
Unrestricted free agent James Anderson said he'd like to re-sign with the Spurs.
That's a pretty curious statement considering Anderson's agent reportedly "encouraged" San Antonio to trade the swingman during the season, and we're not expecting to see Anderson back with the Spurs. The No. 20 pick of the 2010 draft should get a chance to prove himself somewhere, but he was barely a blip on the radar screen last season, averaging just 12 minutes per game in 51 contests.

Fri Apr 27 201204:42Anderson scores career-high 19 points
James Anderson started against the Warriors on Thursday and scored a career-high 19 points on 7-of-17 shooting with seven rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block in 40 minutes.
Somewhere around here we said he was the best play of the Spurs' bunch tonight because he was the least likely to put up a big line. Well there you go. Anderson can fill it up, but he'll need (and wants) a change of scenery so he can get some more run. Of course, the standard Warriors disclaimer applies when evaluating this line.

Thu Apr 26 201221:57Anderson to start for Kawhi Leonard
James Anderson will start for Kawhi Leonard (rest) on Thursday against the Warriors.
This is the first announcement we've heard regarding the Spurs' plans for tonight, and all we can say with certainty is that it takes one player out of the mix for stats tonight. Anderson gets a bump with the starting nod, but is a desperation play at best.

James Anderson (back) returned to action on Friday, playing 10 minutes with zero points, three rebounds, and one assist.
Anderson is buried in the rotation and has no fantasy value.

Thu Mar 1 201213:34James Anderson tweaks back in practice
James Anderson tweaked his back in Wednesday's practice and was forced to leave early.
There is no word on the severity of the injury, but Anderson has been an afterthought in San Antonio this season and has not offered any fantasy value.

Tue Feb 21 201207:35Report: James Anderson seeking trade
James Anderson's agent has reportedly "encouraged" the Spurs to trade his client.
Anderson has been a lost man in Gregg Popovich's rotation this season, and it was a mild surprise that he had his contract option declined for next season earlier this year. The No. 20 overall pick from the 2010 draft has struggled to find consistent minutes in the rotation this year and is averaging just 4.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in 11 minutes per game.

Thu Jan 5 201223:56Anderson hits waiver wires hard after Thu
James Anderson was removed from the starting shooting guard slot prior to Thursday's game against the Mavs, and played just six minutes on his way to five points on 2-of-2 shooting (including a three) with one rebound.
While it's nice to see him make both his buckets, this is decidedly a crushing moment for Anderson's fantasy value. Even if Gregg Popovich were to theoretically be playing matchups, there is no rationale for hanging onto Anderson after this result.

Thu Jan 5 201202:30James Anderson quiet in start for Spurs
James Anderson started for the Spurs in place of injured Manu Ginobili on Wednesday, but had just five points on 2-of-6 shooting in 20 minutes.
Gary Neal returned to action for the Spurs and had seven points and a three on 3-of-9 shooting, and will likely replace Anderson if he continues to struggle. Neal looks like the better player to own in this situation, but it could take him a few games to get going after his appendectomy.

Tue Jan 3 201200:00WW Alert: James Anderson to start for Manu
James Anderson will start for injured Manu Ginobili, who suffered a left hand injury that will keep him out anywhere from 4-6 weeks.
We saw some rumblings that it could be just two weeks, but no official tweet or report to that effect. As for an injury on the shooting hand, we're guessing the Spurs will play it safe, though they might have more urgency if they're on the playoff bubble. Anderson has a nice amount of upside and has been playing well, and with the possibility that he becomes a consistent scoring option he's well worth an add in 12-team leagues.

Thu Dec 29 201106:59James Anderson gaining confidence this year
Gregg Popovich has been impressed with James Anderson this season.
"He's jumped on this opportunity and done a real nice job," said Popovich. Anderson is holding a steady role in the Spurs rotation while Gary Neal recovers from his appendectomy, but should see some time even when Neal returns. Anderson is averaging 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists through the first two games of the season.

Tue Dec 13 201115:26Parker: James Anderson surprise of camp
Tony Parker said Tuesday that swingman James Anderson has been the surprise of Spurs training camp, and that he's expecting big things.
Anderson actually started for Parker at point guard last March, but can play other positions as well. If you're in a real deep league, this is the type of blurb you'll want to stash away in your memory, as Anderson could turn out to be a sleeper pick this season.

Mon Mar 28 201120:22James Anderson to start for Parker (knee)
James Anderson will start for Tony Parker (bruised patella) in Monday's game against the Blazers, along with George Hill, Richard Jefferson, Tiago Splitter, and Matt Bonner.
While Anderson will start and anything is possible with Gregg Popovich, we still like Gary Neal as a fantasy play over Anderson. As for Splitter and Bonner, they may be starting, but we still like DeJuan Blair as the best overall spot-start, Bonner as the better spot-start if you need 3-point shooting, and Splitter if you're desperate and Blair isn't available.

Fri Mar 11 201119:29James Anderson to start for Spurs
James Anderson is starting for the Spurs on Friday, replacing Richard Jefferson who is out for personal reasons.
He could have a decent line tonight, but knowing Gregg Popovich, anything is possible.

Wed Feb 23 201113:32Spurs recall Anderson from D-League
The Spurs have recalled James Anderson from the D-League.
The rookie sharpshooter has averaged 5.2 points in nine games for San Antonio this season and is unlikely to get significant minutes down the stretch.
