Sat Jun 25 201101:25Jonathan Sanchez gets pulled in fifth
Jonathan Sanchez was removed after allowing three runs and walking six in 4 2/3 innings Friday against the Indians.
Sanchez still has a solid enough 3.81 ERA, but he's been very wild lately and he's not giving the Giants many innings as a result. In his five starts this month, he's made it through six innings just once. If he struggles again next time out, the Giants might decide to have Barry Zito replace him in the rotation. That still seems like a long shot, though.

Wed Jun 8 201100:53Sanchez yields 2 runs over 5 innings in loss
Jonathan Sanchez yielded two runs over five innings in Tuesday's loss to the Nationals.
Sanchez allowed just four hits and struck out six, but his command was spotty as it often can be and he walked five. He will take a 3.51 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 78/45 K/BB rate over 74 1/3 innings into a weekend start against the Reds.

Thu Jun 2 201123:32Sanchez labors but picks up win
Jonathan Sanchez allowed three runs on four hits and six walks over 5 1/3 innings Thursday but did enough to pick up his fourth win in the 12-7 victory over the Cardinals.
Home plate ump Tim Welke had a fairly tight strike zone, but Sanchez's command was spotty as it often can be. He struck out just one, which was easily his lowest total of the season. Despite the shaky outing, Sanchez will take a 3.50 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 9.3 K/9 rate into next week's start against the Nationals.

Sun May 22 201120:44Sanchez takes no-decision against As
Jonathan Sanchez yielded just one earned run over six innings as part of a no-decision against the Athletics Sunday.
Sanchez struck out five, walked two and gave up five hits. He left with a 2-1 lead, but Jeremy Affeldt's ineffectiveness took Sanchez's name off the record. Sanchez has gone seven innings or more just once in his 10 starts, one of the reasons he's not an elite fantasy option.

Thu May 12 201101:23Jonathan Sanchez fans seven in victory
Jonathan Sanchez beat the Diamondbacks by allowing three runs over six innings and striking out seven on Wednesday.
The Giants would prefer Sanchez were a little more motivated or dedicated to his craft, but the results haven't been half bad. He's 3-2 with a 3.68 ERA for the season. What is disappointing is that he's gotten just one out past the sixth inning in his eight starts.

Thu May 5 201116:18Bochy thinks Sanchez is lacking focus
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Thursday that Jonathan Sanchez is "drifting mentally."
Sanchez has allowed 12 total walks in his past two starts and now sports a rough 1.45 WHIP on the year. Bochy told reporters that he plans to have a sit-down conversation with the left-hander on Friday morning.

Sat Apr 30 201119:24Sanchez strikes out seven, walks six in win
Jonathan Sanchez gave up an unearned run over five innings in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Nationals.
Sanchez struck out seven and held the Nationals to just two hits, but he also issued a season-high six walks and threw a wild pitch. Fantasy owners will certainly take the win any way they can get it, but this outing probably says more about just how bad the Nationals' starting lineup is right now.

Sun Apr 24 201121:13Sanchez makes it through five innings
Jonathan Sanchez yielded two earned runs over five innings as part of a no-decision against the Braves Sunday.
Sanchez showed few signs of the flu bug that was bothering him over the last couple days. He threw 86 pitches, struck out five and walked three. The lefty should be closer to 100 percent -- and ready to go deeper into the game -- against the Nationals next time out.

Sun Apr 24 201114:57Giants to keep close eye on Sanchez
Jonathan Sanchez has been battling the flu of late and needed an IV Saturday due to dehydration.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the team will keep a "close eye" on Sanchez during Sunday's start. Long man Ryan Vogelsong just threw 3 1/3 innings Friday, so they'll be hoping Sanchez can give them innings.

Thu Apr 14 201102:51Giants' Sanchez records first victory
Jonathan Sanchez recorded his first win with six innings of three-run ball Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Sanchez struck out nine in the contest. He's been inefficient with his pitches early on, which is why he still hasn't lasted more than six innings in any of his three starts, but he has already notched 24 strikeouts, tying him with Clayton Kershaw for the NL lead.

Fri Apr 8 201121:30Jonathan Sanchez solid through five
Jonathan Sanchez gave up one run on four hits and two walks over five innings in Friday's 5-4 extra innings win over the Cardinals.
He struck out seven. Sanchez ran the count deep time and time again, which led to 95 pitches over five frames and ultimately an early exit. Still, on the whole it was a solid showing. The left-hander will go up against the Dodgers his next time out.
