Sun Jun 6 201017:54Cordrero blows save but earns win Sunday
Francisco Cordero blew his fourth save of the season but earned the win on Sunday as the Reds edged the Nationals 5-4.
Cordero was summoned in the bottom of the ninth with a 4-2 lead, but allowed two runs on two hits and a pair of walks. It was a very shaky outing, even though he struck out three in his only inning of action. He lucked out, however, when the Reds scored in the top of the tenth and Nick Masset held on in the bottom half of the frame for his first career save. Cordero posted a 2.70 ERA in April, but has struggled since then and his ERA has ballooned to 3.86. Even so, he has no job security issues with his big contract and solid track record.

Francisco Cordero tallied his sixth save of the season Thursday evening as the Reds topped the Dodgers 8-5.
Cordero is quietly racking up saves in bunches despite the Reds' 7-9 start. He fanned one batter on Thursday while allowing one walk and racking up one strikeout. Mike Leake earned his first major league victory in the contest, tossing seven innings against a tough Dodgers lineup.
Sat Apr 17 201022:13Cordero's implosion leads to Pirates victory
Francisco Cordero imploded in blowing a save Saturday against the Pirates, walking three before eventually allowing a walk-off single to Garrett Jones.
Cordero entered with a 4-3 lead in the ninth, starting off fine by inducing a ground out from Jeff Clement. Then the wheels came off. He surrendered, consecutively, a single, a walk, another walk, a fly out, a walk to bring in the tying run, and then Jones' game-winning single, which was a scalding shot to center field that hit the fence and was a mere few feet from being an exclamation-point grand slam. It was Cordero's first blown save of the season, dropping him to 1-1 with four saves and a 4.05 ERA.
