Eveland is still sidelined by a significant hamstring injury that has murdered his chances of cracking the Opening Day roster. A timetable for his return is not yet known. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Dana Eveland's strained left hamstring injury is "significant" and he expects the lefty to be sidelined "weeks, not days." |
Eveland was injured Thursday during sprints. He was a poor bet to make the roster already, and his odds just became longer. The southpaw posted a 6.79 ERA over 12 games -- 10 starts -- for the Blue Jays and Pirates last season. |

Thu Feb 17 2011 | 12:24 | Eveland hurt during sprints |
Dana Eveland was injured during the third sprint of running drills Thursday. |
It's not clear what the exact nature of his injury is, but Eveland's conditioning has never been a strong suit, so this shouldn't come as a big surprise. The left-hander pitched respectably in 2008 with Oakland but has been woeful the last two seasons. He's shooting to earn a roster spot as a non-roster invitee. |

According to Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times, the Dodgers have agreed to a minor league split contract with LHP Dana Eveland. |
We're always skeptical of anyone that can't stick with the Pirates. The former top prospect posted an 8.38 ERA in three relief appearances in 2010 for the Buccos before being designated for assignment. He'll attempt to work his way back to the majors with the Dodgers. |

Mon Jun 7 2010 | 15:54 | Eveland handed loss in Pirates debut |
Dana Eveland took a loss in his Pirates debut after giving up three runs in five innings against the Cubs on Monday. |
No strikeouts for Eveland. He still hasn't had more than four in any of his 10 starts this year, and since his command ranges from poor to middling, he has to get some swings and misses. He's not an option in NL-only leagues. |
Tue Jun 1 2010 | 13:56 | Pirates acquire Eveland for Ronald Uviedo |
Pirates acquired RHP Dana Eveland from the Blue Jays for RHP Ronald Uviedo. |
The Bucs will hope that a move to the National League will help Eveland's confidence, as it has with many others. The 26-year-old righty was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last week after opening the season with a 3-4 record, a 6.45 ERA and a 1.88 WHIP through nine starts. |
Tue Jun 1 2010 | 12:42 | Report: Pirates planning to claim Eveland |
Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Pirates are making plans to claim right-hander Dana Eveland off waivers. |
Eveland was designated for assignment last week by the Blue Jays after opening the season 3-4 with a 6.45 ERA over nine starts. The 26-year-old has a 16-21 career record with a 5.66 career ERA, but would still make for a decent addition to the Pirates' struggling pitching staff. |

Blue Jays designated RHP Dana Eveland for assignment. |
Eveland was already on shaky ground before Saturday's start against the Diamondbacks, but he sealed his fate by giving up eight earned runs over 1 1/3 innings. The 26-year-old right-hander was 3-4 with a 6.45 ERA over nine starts and was handed losses in each of his last three starts. As for who will replace him in the starting rotation, the Blue Jays will not need a fifth starter until May 31. Brian Tallet, who is currently rehabbing a forearm injury, is one candidate for the assignment. |

Eveland was lit up for eight earned runs in just 1 1/3 innings Saturday against the Diamondbacks and was terrible in three consecutive starts. A corresponding roster move has not yet been announced. |

Sat May 22 2010 | 22:57 | Eveland shelled for eight earned in loss |
Dana Eveland was shelled for eight earned runs in just 1 1/3 innings Saturday as the Blue Jays fell to the Diamondbacks. |
Eveland has struggled in three consecutive starts now and should be avoided in all fantasy formats until things start heading in the right direction. The strikeout numbers are not there and his ERA is up to 6.45 through nine starts. He'll try to improve next week against the Orioles. |
Tue May 18 2010 | 00:50 | Jays' Eveland takes loss to Twins |
Dana Eveland took a loss to the Twins after surrendering five runs -- three earned -- in four innings Monday. |
Eveland has turned in a couple of gems, and his 4.98 ERA is far from the worst in the AL. Still, he's struck out just 20 and walked 25 in 43 1/3 innings and now he's starting to give up homers. He's probably not long for the Toronto rotation with Jesse Litsch, Brian Tallet and Mark Rzepczynski on the rehab trail. |
Tue May 11 2010 | 22:18 | Eveland pounded once again by Red Sox |
Dana Eveland surrendered six runs -- five earned -- in four innings Tuesday against the Red Sox. |
Toronto should have known what they were going to get when they sent Eveland to the mound. He has now made five career starts against Boston and given up 30 earned runs in 16 1/3 innings. Eveland's ERA ballooned to 4.58 in this one. He's becoming a matchup-only pitcher in AL-only formats, as all three of his quality starts this year have come against the White Sox (two) and Orioles. Next time out, he draws the Twins, which means he should be benched in all formats. |
Fri May 7 2010 | 00:04 | Jays' Eveland goes seven scoreless for win |
Dana Eveland allowed two hits over seven scoreless innings Thursday in a victory over the White Sox. |
The White Sox aren't providing much of a challenge these days, but it was a nice performance from Eveland, who outdueled fellow lefty John Danks. He's now 3-1 with a 3.82 ERA through six starts. However, two of those wins have come against the Pale Hose, with the other coming at the expense of the Orioles. Those are also his only three quality starts. |
Mon Apr 26 2010 | 23:39 | Jays' Eveland lit up by Red Sox |
Dana Eveland surrendered seven runs in three-plus innings Monday against the Red Sox. |
The Jays didn't want to wreck their bullpen, so they sent Eveland back out for the fourth after a four-run third. The decision may well have cost the Jays the game, as Eveland never retired another batter and was charged with two more runs. Eveland has now made four career starts against Boston and given up 25 runs in 12 1/3 innings in the process. That's an 18.24 ERA, and it's respnsible for taking his career ERA from 4.91 to 5.47. |
Tue Apr 20 2010 | 21:44 | Eveland's Blue Jays career off to good start |
Dana Eveland allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Royals. |
He labored, getting yanked in the sixth while closing in on 100 pitches. Eveland surrendered eight hits and two walks while striking out three. At least thus far, he has proved to be a worthwhile gamble for Toronto, who acquired him from Oakland over the winter. Eveland has produced a 1.93 ERA over 18 2/3 innings this year. |
Thu Apr 15 2010 | 22:09 | Eveland improves to 2-0 with win over ChiSox |
Dana Eveland improved to 2-0 on the year Thursday after delivering six innings of two-run ball against the White Sox. |
The Jays won 7-3, which also happens to be their record on the young season. Eveland has been great, and has really done well inducing groundball outs. He has a 1.35 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP. The strikeouts won't be there often, but he's been a great source of scoreless frames thus far. |
Sat Apr 10 2010 | 21:41 | Eveland tosses seven-plus scoreless in win |
Dana Eveland tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings Saturday as the Blue Jays nabbed a 3-0 victory from the A's. |
Eveland shut down his old team with ease, racking up two strikeouts against just five hits. He showed impressive control and is certainly a guy worth tracking in AL-only leagues. Jason Frasor worked the ninth inning and picked up his third save of the year while also protecting the shutout. |
