Wed Oct 26 201114:40Nats, Wang not on verge of new deal
Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said Wednesday that the club isn't on the verge of a new contract with right-hander Chien Ming-Wang.
The Nats are still interested in re-signing Wang, but if Rizzo can believed, the two sides aren't nearly as close to an agreement as reported earlier this month. "I wouldn't describe it as imminent or close," said Rizzo. "But we're still communicating and we still have a mutual interest for Chien-Ming to sign with the Nationals." Wang finally made his way back from shoulder surgery this season, posting a 4.04 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 53.4 ground ball percentage over 11 starts. Barring something unexpected, we expect to see him back in the Nats' rotation next season.

Sun Oct 16 201120:34Nationals and Wang talking contract extension
The Nationals and Chien-Ming Wang are actively discussing a contract extension.
Although the two sides aren't close to a deal, both Wang and Nationals GM Mike Rizzo have publicly stated their desire for the right-hander to stay put. Wang said in September that money will not be an issue in resigning with the Nationals and he wants to be loyal to the organization that employed him for two years while he struggled with shoulder issues. Wang had a 4.04 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over 11 starts this season after returning in late July. He could be a solid member of the Nats rotation next season if he remains healthy.

Sun Sep 25 201112:28Nats want Chien-Ming Wang back
Nationals GM Mike Rizzo confirmed that he would like to bring Chien-Ming Wang back next season.
Rizzo didn't say whether extension talks were in the works, but that's the word. Wang holds a 4.04 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over 11 starts this season after returning in late July following a two-year absence due to shoulder issues. He could be a solid member of the Nats rotation if he remains healthy.

Sat Sep 24 201116:19Wang goes six innings win over Braves
Chien-Ming Wang hurled six innings of one-run ball in a 4-1 win over the Braves on Saturday afternoon.
Wang held the Braves to just four hits while stiking out four and walking none. The only run scored on a solo blast by Freddie Freeman in the top of the fifth inning. Wang also notched his first major league hit with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning. After missing the entire 2010 season following shoulder surgery, the 31-year-old right-hander will finish the year with a 4.04 ERA and 25/13 K/BB ratio in 62 1/3 innings over 11 starts. It would be surprising if he isn't back with the Nationals season.

Fri Sep 23 201120:34Wang/Nats in preliminary contract talks
MLB.com's Bill Ladson reports the Nationals and Chien-Ming Wang are in the "preliminary stages" of negotiations for a new contract.
The Nationals have gotten just 56 1/3 innings from Wang over the past two seasons as he's worked his way back from shoulder problems, but must believe he's finally all the way back. All 56 1/3 of those innings have come in 2011, where Wang has posted a 4.31, ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 53.4 groundball percentage. Barring something unforeseen happening, he should be a part of the Nationals' 2012 rotation.

Chien-Ming Wang headed back to D.C. on Thursday after coming down with a mild case of the flu.
The Nationals fully expect Wang to make his scheduled Saturday start against the Braves. He's posted a 4.31 ERA and 1.35 WHIP through 56 1/3 innings this season.

Sun Sep 18 201116:40Chien-Ming Wang has quality start
Chien-Ming Wang posted a quality start Sunday, keeping the Marlins to three runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings in a 4-3 win.
He struck out a season-high five and didn't walk anyone, and if not for a two-out, two-run homer from the light-hitting Brett Hayes in the seventh inning, Wang's start really would've been impressive. Wang has been solid, albeit unspectacular since joining the Nats rotation in July, posting a 4.31 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He get the Braves next.

Fri Sep 9 201122:24Wang expresses interest in signing with Nats
Impending free agent Chien-Ming Wang expressed interest in re-joining the Nationals in 2012.
"They have taken care of me a lot the past two years. So I want to come back," said Wang. "I want to help them get more wins. I just want to get back, no matter the salary." He should have a few suitors in free agency if he doesn't re-sign with the Nats first.

Fri Sep 9 201111:23Chien-Ming Wang's bonuses kicking in
Chien-Ming Wang has already earned an additional $250,000 for remaining on Nationals' roster for 30 days.
Wang signed a contract last December that paid him a minimum of $1 million, but he had the opportunity to earn more through incentives. He will earn another $500,000 if he stays on the roster for the rest of the month and will get an extra $100,000 for every start he makes once he hits his 10th start (he's made eight so far). The righty was also paid an unspecified roster bonus for simply joining the roster in July. Wang has pitched decently thus far for the Nats and, more importantly, has been healthy. He should have a few suitors over the offseason when he hits free agency.

Chien-Ming Wang yielded four runs and seven hits in six innings Thursday against the Dodgers.
Wang, who entered with a 9/13 K/BB ratio in 38 2/3 innings, struck out three and walked none today. His ERA jumped to 4.43, but it wasn't a bad outing.

Wed Sep 7 201117:40Dodgers-Nationals game officially called off
Wednesday's Dodgers-Nationals game has been cancelled.
Major League Baseball pushed the Dodgers and Nats to try to fit the contest in, refusing to make an initial club-approved postponement official, but the rain hasn't stopped in the nation's capital and the forecast does not look promising. The two teams will play a doubleheader Thursday, beginning at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Wed Sep 7 201117:08Wednesday's Dodgers-Nats game is back on
Wednesday night's game between the Dodgers and Nationals is indeed back on.
Both teams announced Wednesday morning that the game had been postponed due to a pocket of storms still traveling through the nation's capital, but Major League Baseball intervened and asked the Dodgers and Nats to do their best to fit the contest in. Chien-Ming Wang will take the mound for D.C. and Dana Eveland will make the start for Los Angeles. It should be rainy affair.

Wed Sep 7 201114:10Dodgers/Nats rained out; doubleheader Thu.
Wednesday's game between the Dodgers and Nationals was postponed due to rain.
The forecast in the D.C. area isn't promising, but they'll attempt to make it up as part of a doubleheader Thursday, beginning at 1:05 p.m. ET. Wednesday's starters Chien-Ming Wang and Dana Eveland will presumably be pushed back a day.

Thu Sep 1 201122:14Wang labors through 5 2/3
Chien-Ming Wang labored through 5 2/3 innings Thursday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks in a loss to the Braves.
He didn't strike anyone out and served up solo shots to Brian McCann and Chipper Jones. Wang now holds a hideous 9/12 K/BB ratio over his 38 2/3 innings in his seven starts, but he's still a groundball machine, which has helped him keep his ERA down to a digestible 4.19 mark. He'll face off against the Dodgers next.

Tue Aug 9 201122:54Wang allows just 1 hit over 6 shutout innings
Chien-Ming Wang tossed six shutout innings and allowed just one hit in a win Tuesday against the Cubs.
He walked two and struck out one. Wang was pretty terrible his first two times out coming off the disabled list, allowing 12 runs, though just half of them were earned. Tuesday's start will buy him more time in the rotation, but we wouldn't count on him in fantasy. He's 1-2 with a 3.60 ERA over three starts.

Wed Aug 3 201116:47Chien-Ming Wang takes loss to Braves
Chien-Ming Wang allowed six runs -- two earned -- in five innings Wednesday in a loss to the Braves.
The unearned runs were his own fault, as he committed a throwing error on Brandon Beachy's comebacker to start the four-run fifth inning. Wang has allowed 12 runs -- six earned -- over nine innings in his two starts for the Nationals. He'll probably remain in the rotation for now, but if he doesn't improve next time out, the Nats could give up on him.

Sat Jul 30 201100:54Wang loses in first start since 2009
In his first major league start in over two years, Chien-Ming Wang was tagged for six runs (four earned) over four innings in a loss to the Mets on Friday night.
He was pulled after throwing 61 pitches. Wang settled in a bit after allowing four runs in the first inning, though the outing could have been much worse. He allowed eight hits while walking one and striking out two. The encouraging part is that he induced eight ground balls and topped out at 92.7 mph on the radar gun. It looks like he'll stay in the rotation for now, but we wouldn't count on him in fantasy leagues.

Fri Jul 29 201115:49Chien-Ming Wang activated
Nationals activated RHP Chien-Ming Wang from the 60-day disabled list.
Wang, who will start Friday against the Mets, will have gone 755 days in between major league starts due to ongoing shoulder issues, as his last outing came in Independence Day in 2009. The former Yankee is slated to throw 80-90 pitches in his first outing. He posted 1.90 ERA over 23.2 innings across multiple minor league levels during his rehab assignment and is worth a flier in NL-only formats.

Thu Jul 28 201111:42Wang (shoulder) set for 80-90 pitches Friday
Nationals manager Davey Johnson said that Chien-Ming Wang (shoulder) will throw approximately 80-90 pitches in his start Friday against the Mets.
This will be Wang's first major league start since undergoing shoulder surgery in July of 2009. Tom Gorzelanny will be available out of the bullpen in case he is chased from the game early.

Sun Jul 24 201120:26Wang will make start vs. Mets on Friday
Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post is reporting that Chien-Ming Wang (shoulder) will start Friday against the Mets.
The Nationals will be showcasing their veteran right hander for contenders. Wang has pitched well since making his first rehab start a little less than a month ago, posting a 1.90 ERA over 23.2 innings across multiple minor league levels. He has not pitched in the majors since the middle of the 2009 season.
