Mon Apr 4 201117:30Webb (shoulder) wild in BP session Monday
Brandon Webb (shoulder) hit three batters during a live batting practice session Monday.
Webb threw about 70 pitches and felt OK physically, but was admittedly wild. "I felt fine, but I was just all over the place," said Webb. "It wasn't like my last pen. After my last pen, I was like this is pretty good. I thought after that I would be ready for a sim game." Webb hopes to throw again Friday in Baltimore, but it will be in the form of another bullpen session. He's still a long way from pitching in a Rangers' uniform, so fantasy owners shouldn't count on him.

Fri Apr 1 201115:18Brandon Webb to throw simulated game
Brandon Webb (shoulder) threw 65 pitches in a bullpen session Thursday and will likely pitch in a simulated game Monday.
"Location was much better and we figured something out, we moved the catcher over a little bit, to get my sights over on the other side of the plate," Webb said. "Breaking ball and changeup were good, movement was excellent. It was good, the best one so far." A minor league rehab stint at Double-A Frisco will probably occur after the simulated game, assuming it goes well. It's certainly a positive report, but while the Rangers are hoping to get Webb back sometime in May, his rehab, as we know, has been unpredictable.

Thu Mar 31 201113:49Rangers place Webb on 15-day DL
Rangers placed RHP Brandon Webb on the 15-Day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with ongoing recovery from his August 2009 right shoulder surgery.
The Rangers have yet to put a timetable on Webb's arrival in their rotation. He was shut down from throwing live batting practice just last week and will probably stick to bullpen sessions for now. Late April is a reasonable guess for his return. But with a brittle pitcher like Webb, any date of return guess is throwing a dart blindfolded.

Sat Mar 26 201112:25Brandon Webb could throw off mound Monday
Brandon Webb (shoulder) was pleased with how his long toss session went Friday and he could return to the mound on Monday.
The right-hander will have another long toss session Saturday and a light game of catch Sunday before Monday's mound session. "I've just got to give myself extra time (to warm up)," Webb said. "Once I got loose, the ball was on a line." The Rangers are smartly not putting a timetable on Webb's arrival in their rotation. "I think we've said all along, we're hopeful he's an option at the end of the season and strong," assistant GM Thad Levine said. "When he actually starts the season is somewhat secondary to us. We're hopeful that when he starts, he can pitch without incident in the big leagues for the rest of the year."

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Brandon Webb (shoulder) threw 22 minutes of long toss at 200 feet Friday and felt good.
The right-hander is hoping to get back on a mound soon. Webb was scratched from a live batting practice session Wednesday after he failed to get loose, but it sounds like he's made a bit of progress. We really won't know how far along he is until he gets back on the bump, though.

Thu Mar 24 201112:32Webb (shoulder) will attempt to long-toss Fri
Brandon Webb (shoulder) is taking the day off Thursday and will attempt to long-toss Friday.
Webb was scratched from throwing live batting practice Wednesday after he couldn't get loose, but Rangers trainers have assured him that the soreness isn't a major concern. Still, it's hard to qualify it as anything other than a setback. Webb is quickly approaching the two year anniversary of his last game in the major leagues and there's no telling when he'll return.

Wed Mar 23 201114:24Webb (shoulder) going back to long tossing
Brandon Webb (shoulder) plans to go back to his long toss program Thursday.
Webb was scratched from his scheduled live batting practice session Wednesday after he couldn't get loose. He doesn't feel any pain, but said that he felt something on the top of his shoulder. "Hopefully this is nothing too concerning," said Webb. "I want to to quickly move on. They want to be cautious. Listen to your body. It's tough. It's really frustrating for me when I'm going good and one day it's like it's pretty good and then you have a day like this it's a little depressing. Hopefully we'll push through it and get back on the mound again in three or four more days." Webb is expected to see team physician Keith Meister on Wednesday.

Wed Mar 23 201113:07Webb (shoulder) scratched from BP session
Brandon Webb (shoulder) had his live batting practice session scratched Wednesday because he couldn't get loose.
Uh oh. There was some hope that he could pitch in a minor league game as soon as this weekend, but it's safe to say that won't be happening. Webb will see team doctor Keith Meister, who is in camp, before he continues his rehab. Fantasy owners would be wise to stay away for now.

Thu Mar 17 201119:03Webb (shoulder) throws 62 pitches of live BP

Webb told reporters after the workout that he is hoping to pitch in a simulated or "B" game by early next week. Brandon Webb (shoulder) threw 61 pitches Sunday of live batting practice, with T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com writing that the session went "extremely well."
Rangers manager Ron Washington said it's a matter of "when" and not "if" Webb will be ready to join the Rangers rotation. Left unsaid is exactly when that "when" will be, but Sunday's development is certainly a good sign. The 31-year-old right-hander is not expected to be ready for the start of the season.

Wed Mar 9 201112:32Webb (shoulder) throws live batting practice
Brandon Webb (shoulder) threw 62 pitches Wednesday in his first live batting practice session of the spring.
And the review from Rangers manager Ron Washington wasn't exactly glowing. "There were some good and some not so good [pitches]," said Washington. "But there was some sink. It wasn't the heavy sink that we'll see." Washington said the club will see how Webb feels on Thursday before determining the next step. The 31-year-old right-hander is not expected to be ready for the start of the season.

Tue Mar 8 201116:02Webb not expected to be ready for season
T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com writes that the Rangers "clearly aren't planning" for Brandon Webb to be ready for Opening Day.
Webb is scheduled to throw live batting practice for the first time Wednesday, which is an encouraging sign, but he's simply running out of time. . "He's progressing," said Rangers manager Ron Washington. "That's a good step forward. We went from long toss to bullpen to throwing live BP. Depending on how that goes, we'll set a plan from there." There's still much to be determined in the back-end of the starting rotation, but Derek Holland and Matt Harrison would seem to have a leg up on the competition at the moment.

Brandon Webb (shoulder) scheduled to throw against live hitters Wednesday.
Encouraging news. Webb has already thrown four bullpen sessions, including a 62-pitch effort on Sunday. "Maybe seeing some hitters will help me tighten up my command a little bit," said Webb. "I've just felt a little wild." Though Webb felt some normal soreness Monday, he said he's felt fine physically all spring. However, there's no timetable for him to pitch in games.
