Thu Sep 22 201122:14Gomez pitches well again
Jeanmar Gomez kept it going Thursday, limiting the White Sox to two runs - one earned - on four hits and two walks over six innings in an 11-2 win over the White Sox.
Gomez is suddenly the Indians' most reliable starter, as he's now won each of his last five outings while not permitting more than two runs in any start. He doesn't miss many bats but has kept his walks down and the ball in the park with a strong groundball rate. Gomez will try to keep improving that 3.52 ERA in his final start against the Tigers.

Jeanmar Gomez held the White Sox to two runs on six hits in six innings on Friday, improving to 3-2 in an 8-4 Indians victory.
He struck out three and walked none. Gomez has now allowed just four runs in 17 1/3 innings since rejoining the Indians rotation on August 30, and is looking well worth a flier in deeper mixed leagues. He has a tough matchup lined up for his next time out, however, where he'll take on the Rangers in Texas.

Wed Jul 13 201113:47Gomez to replace Talbot in rotation
The Indians are expected to recall Jeanmar Gomez from the minors to start Sunday against the Orioles.
He'll take Mitch Talbot's spot in the rotation. Gomez is starting for Class A Mahoning Valley on Wednesday night while Triple-A Columbus is on their All-Star break. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 2.40 ERA over 14 starts at the minor league level this season, averaging 7.2 K/9 and 2.8 BB/9. He's been largely unimpressive when given opportunities in the majors before, so we'd wait and see in AL-only formats.

Mon May 9 201113:52Jeanmar Gomez sent down
Indians optioned RHP Jeanmar Gomez to Triple-A Columbus.
Gomez pitched pretty well in his last start, holding the A's to one run over 5 1/3 innings. But, his 4.91 ERA and 1.80 WHIP ultimately weren't good enough to keep him from being demoted with Carlos Carrasco (elbow) ready to come off the DL.

Jeanmar Gomez held the A's to one earned run over five-plus innings in Thursday's 4-3 victory.
Gomez was lifted from the game far before it ended in the 12th inning and was left with a no-decision despite his impressive effort. The 23-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA from 6.23 to 4.91 and will try to carry some of that momentum into his next scheduled outing against the Rays. The Indians are off to a franchise-best 21-9 start.

Wed Apr 20 201119:24Jeanmar Gomez will get at least 1 more start
Indians manager Manny Acta said Jeanmar Gomez will get at least one more start.
"He's pitching in five days. We'll go from there," said Acta. Gomez was shelled by the Royals Tuesday in his first outing filling in for the injured Mitch Talbot. If he gets knocked around again, it sounds like he could be replaced. David Huff would likely be next in line for a recall.

Tue Apr 19 201122:55Gomez allows five runs in loss to Royals
Jeanmar Gomez allowed five runs on nine hits over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Royals on Tuesday.
Recalled earlier in the day from Triple-A Columbus to take the start in place of the injured Mitch Talbot, Gomez was rocked in a matchup of the AL Central's top two teams. Gomez didn't have a good spring training and his results on this day were hardly surprising. He may have to wait awhile before his next start.

Sun Apr 17 201111:37Jeanmar Gomez to replace Talbot in rotation
The Indians will recall Jeanmar Gomez from Triple-A Columbus to start Tuesday against the Royals in place of the injured Mitch Talbot (elbow).
He's the most logical candidate, and it just so happens that he was on turn to pitch Tuesday, anyway. Gomez got off to a nice start last season for the Indians but folded down the stretch, ultimately winding up with a 4.68 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over 11 starts. He should be avoided for fantasy purposes unless you're desperate.

Fri Mar 18 201117:50Jeanmar Gomez has another poor outing
Jeanmar Gomez's middling spring continued on Friday, as the young righty allowed four hits, three runs and two walks in four innings against the Royals.
He's now allowed at least three runs in three of his past four starts, ballooning his spring ERA to 6.43. Hit hard while posting a poor K/BB ratio in 57 2/3 innings last season, he's not looking like a good bet to begin the year in the Indians rotation.

Sat Mar 5 201117:10Jeanmar Gomez struggles Saturday
Jeanmar Gomez allowed four runs on four hits Saturday against the Mariners.
He also walked a batter and failed to register a strikeout. Gomez is battling David Huff and Josh Tomlin for the final spot in the rotation but perhaps has lost some ground in the competition with his adversaries combining for 10 shutout innings thus far. He posted a 4.68 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over 11 starts last year.

Mon Sep 27 201017:15Indians shut Gomez down for rest of season
Jeanmar Gomez has been shutdown for the rest of the season in an effort to limit his workload.
Gomez has tossed 173 2/3 innings between the majors and minors this season, so he has reached his innings-limit for the year. The 22-year-old right-hander finishes his rookie season with a 4.68 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over 11 starts, averaging 5.31 K/9 and 3.43 BB/9. He'll likely compete for a spot in the rotation during spring training, but the Indians will have plenty of choices.
