Fri Dec 13 201322:11John Salmons plays 20 minutes off bench
John Salmons made his Raptors debut on Friday and hit 1-of-3 shots for three points, two rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes.
Not great, and given how well Terrence Ross and DeMar DeRozan played tonight, it's hard to see Salmons doing much of anything in Toronto this season.

Sun Dec 8 201319:40Salmons traded to Raptors in Rudy Gay deal
John Salmons was traded to Toronto as part of Sunday's blockbuster deal sending Rudy Gay to Sacramento.
Salmons was a throw-in to make the salaries match, and Toronto's primary interest in him is probably the fact that his $7 million salary next season is only $1 million guaranteed. He's unlikely to surface as a reliable fantasy option with the Raptors, who already have Landry Fields, DeMar DeRozan, Terrence Ross and Steve Novak on the wings.

Sat Dec 7 201304:15Salmons hits three treys in loss
John Salmons hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points in Friday's loss, and also added four rebounds, one steal and one block in 26 minutes off the bench.
Salmons has made some noise lately but we need to see a bit more to consider any attention in standard formats. If you're in a deeper league and want to give him a look be our guests. Just don't expect a lot in return.

Sat Nov 30 201305:12Salmons scores season-high 14 points
John Salmons scored a season-high 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting with two threes, three boards, two assists, one steal and one block in 21 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Salmons gets a ton of criticism locally -- probably more than he deserves -- but he's just not cut out for the small forward position and this type of line will be the exception rather than the rule.

Sun Nov 17 201320:49John Salmons plays 34 minutes off bench
John Salmons came off the Kings' bench on Sunday but wound up scoring 10 points with five assists and one steal in a team-high 34 minutes.
Sacramento's rotations were all over the place tonight, thanks to Mike Malone's lineup tweaks, a 20-point third-quarter deficit, and a spirited performance from the Kings' bench crew. Salmons is extremely inconsistent and he came into this game shooting 30.0 percent from the field, two sterling reasons to avoid him in average fantasy formats.

Sun Nov 17 201318:27John Salmons coming off bench Sunday
Updating a previous item, John Salmons is coming off the bench in Sunday's game.
He checked in during the first quarter. There was a report that he was a healthy scratch, but he will get some extra time with the second unit. Salmons' minutes are trending down, so he's not worth owning in standard leagues.

Wed Nov 6 201301:49John Salmons finally comes through for Kings
John Salmons easily had his best game of the season on Tuesday with 13 points, four rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a 3-pointer, hitting 5-of-11 shots in another start at small forward.
We need to see Salmons do this again before telling you to pick him up, but his solid line tonight means that it's time to put him on your watch list.

Thu Oct 24 201301:37John Salmons scores 14 in Kings win
John Salmons started at small forward and hit 5-of-8 shots for 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, a steal and two 3-pointers in Wednesday's preseason win.
This was his best game of the preseason and he should have some late-round value as long as he hangs onto the starting job.

Wed Jul 17 201317:19Kings decline to use amnesty on John Salmons
The Kings declined to use their amnesty provision on John Salmons.
Salmons and his $7.6 million salary were still on the Kings' roster after Tuesday's deadline passed. However, he's unlikely to have the same role next season after the Kings traded for Luc Richard Mbah a Moute during free agency. While Mbah a Moute isn't exactly an offensive dynamo, he'll definitely cut into Salmons' minutes as the duo will likely form some sort of platoon at small forward.

Thu Apr 11 201301:07John Salmons scores 22 points vs. NO
John Salmons scored 22 points with three boards, three assists and two 3-pointers on 7-of-10 from the field in Wednesday's win over the Hornets.
Salmons was on fire from beyond the arc in February, making 49.0 percent from that range, but he's fallen off severely since then. He shot 34.3 percent from the field in March and he scored just five points combined in his previous three April games. Salmons can be left on the wire in most formats.

Thu Apr 4 201300:52John Salmons hits 0-of-4 FGs in 39 minutes
John Salmons shot 0-of-4 from the field and went scoreless in 39 minutes on Wednesday, as the Kings fell to the visiting Rockets.
He did have five assists vs. zero turnovers, but that's small recompense for his infinite lack of scoring. Games like this should not surprise anyone in Week 23.

Sun Mar 24 201300:43John Salmons scores 18 points on 7-of-12 FGs
John Salmons scored 18 points in Saturday's road loss in Denver, making 7-of-12 shots with four 3-pointers, three rebounds, two assists and one block.
Salmons averaged 4.0 points during a five-game span in mid-March, which makes it hard to appreciate his decent play in the past week. Keith Smart has an inexplicable affinity for Salmons, who averages more minutes (30) than everyone but Tyreke and DeMarcus, but fantasy owners should stock up on Dramamine before picking him up.

Mon Mar 18 201300:08John Salmons awful in road loss to Lakers
John Salmons had three points and five assists in Sunday's road loss, marking his fifth straight game in single-digits.
Salmons' PER rating this season is 10.9, which ranks him just ahead of Gary Neal, Michael Beasley and Marvin Williams. He's still playing 30+ minutes as the Kings' starting SF, though, and Keith Smart shows no signs of changing course.

Sat Mar 9 201303:41Salmons struggles again on Friday
John Salmons struggled again on Friday, hitting just 1-of-5 shots for two points, three rebounds and five assists in 23 minutes.
Salmons went on a tear setting the stage for a very predictable regression. In a 12-14 team format, owners can do better.

Thu Mar 7 201301:50John Salmons quiet in 38 minutes
Unlike teammates DeMarcus Cousins and Isaiah Thomas, Salmons got plenty of playing time tonight, but just couldn't get anything going, hitting 2-of-9 shots and a 3-pointer for five points, three boards and four assists.
This is not the line his owners were looking for, but it's hard to argue with all the minutes and opportunity he got tonight. He's had some big games recently, and as long as the minutes stay consistent, he will have more big nights going forward. But the reality is, that regardless of the minutes he gets, he's simply an inconsistent performer.

Wed Mar 6 201300:55John Salmons scores 11 in loss to Nuggets
John Salmons hit 4-of-9 shots and three 3-pointers for 11 points, four rebounds and two assists in Tuesday's loss.
Salmons went on a recent tear when he scored 18, 15 and 21 points in three straight games, but has now gone for 3, 22 and 11 in his three games since. As long as he's starting he's worth a look in all leagues, but owners have to prepare themselves mentally for the inconsistency that will come with owning him.

Sun Mar 3 201321:13John Salmons' 22 pts lead Kings to victory
John Salmons made 6-of-13 field goals, including five 3-pointers, and he finished Sunday's victory with a team-high 22 points in 30 minutes.
The Kings fans were so riled up tonight that they gave Salmons a standing ovation when he checked out of the game in the fourth quarter. He was 5-of-5 from the FT line, with three rebounds, two assists and two steals, but it's impossible to guess when he'll explode and when he'll fizzle. He was coming off a game with three points and one rebound, but with four games next week he should still average low-end value.

Sat Mar 2 201301:30Salmons hits 1-of-7 shots in blowout loss
John Salmons hit just 1-of-7 shots in Friday's blowout loss to the Spurs, scoring three points with one rebound, one assist, and two steals in 21 minutes.
Salmons was hitting shots at an unsustainable rate and tonight was the market correction. It makes absolutely zero sense that Salmons is getting minutes on a team needing development, so owners may actually want to bank on him getting sustained playing time in the backwards world of Maloof Sports and Entertainment.

Wed Feb 27 201323:03John Salmons stays hot in easy win
John Salmons hit 7-of-9 shots and four more 3-pointers for 21 points and five assists as the Kings blew out the Magic in Orlando on Wednesday.
Salmons is officially hot, scoring 18, 15 and 21 points in each of his last three games with plenty of rebounds, assists and blocks, and hitting 13 3-pointers over that stretch. He was quoted recently complaining about his role, but we don't see anything for him to complain about after these three games. He's worth a pickup now that he's so hot, and as long as he's starting, there's no reason he can't keep this going.

Wed Feb 27 201311:39John Salmons not happy with role on Kings
John Salmons is not currently happy with his role on the Kings.
It seems like a pretty odd time to complain about his role. "No, it's not cool,'' he said. "But I'm just trying to help the team win. I'm not going to be a distraction or complain about it." Keith Smart can't be happy with his veteran's comments on a team that sorely needs leadership.
