Sat Dec 22 201203:26Salmons sputters against the Clippers
John Salmons scored five points on 2-of-6 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, four assists, and one block in 29 minutes on Friday against the Clippers.
Salmons is worth a look in 16-18 team leagues while he is starting, but keep in mind that his current role could change at any time -- even with Geoff Petrie desperately trying to prove that his draft day trade to acquire him wasn't a bust.

Thu Dec 20 201201:58John Salmons bounces back Wednesday
John Salmons hit 6-of-13 shots and a 3-pointer for 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and a steal in another start for the Kings on Wednesday.
He's been starting at small forward for a month now, but had scored six or fewer points in five of his previous seven games. He's always worth keeping an eye on, but we'll need to see more than an occasional mini-explosion before being ready to pick him up in 12-team leagues.

Sun Dec 16 201221:24John Salmons shoots 1-of-8 in another start
John Salmons made another start at SF on Sunday, but he shot 1-of-8 from the field to finish with four points, one assist and one turnover in 21 minutes.
Salmons is hovering around 40 percent shooting in December, he's yet to score double-digit points in consecutive games, and fantasy owners should view him as nothing more than a borderline nine-cat option.

Sat Dec 15 201202:17Salmons hits 1-of-7 shots vs. Thunder
John Salmons started at small forward in Friday's loss to the Thunder, scoring three points on 1-of-7 shooting with two rebounds and three assists in 28 minutes.
Salmons did not record a steal or a block and was awful defensively, but that didn't stop Keith Smart from playing he and Francisco Garcia 42 total minutes as they combined to hit 2-of-13 shots. If the Kings are tanking for a high draft pick, they should be commended for their attention to detail.

Tue Dec 11 201200:14Salmons gives out seven assists vs. DAL
John Salmons scored five points on 2-of-4 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds, seven assists, and one steal over 30 minutes in Monday's blowout loss to the Mavs.
The Kings walked up and down the court and looked like they gave up, so in theory changes should be being looked at across the board. The current iteration of the Kings' take turns offense involves Salmons handling the rock, but he has looked mostly awful when not taking on teams in Portland and Orlando that gave minor league efforts. Tonight he got his assist numbers, but the offense was disjointed and the Kings lost by 23 points.

Sun Dec 9 201202:09Salmons scored 19 points w/ 11 assists
John Salmons scored 19 points and dished out 11 assists, one shy of his career-high, as the Kings defeated the Blazers in Portland on Saturday.
Salmons also had seven assists on Wednesday, a welcome boost for the team with the lowest assist ratio in the NBA (14.7 percent of their possessions result in assists), but keep in mind that he hasn't scored double-digit points in consecutive games this season. A healthy Tyreke Evans will also take the ball out of his hands, and we wouldn't cut anyone with reliable value to pick him up.

Sat Dec 8 201208:49Salmons scores two points for Kings
John Salmons scored two points on 1-of-8 shooting with two rebounds and one assist in 28 minutes on Friday against the Magic.
Salmons is an mismatched part in Sacramento and realistically shouldn't be playing much. Tonight's line resets any fantasy value he had since moving into the starting lineup.

Thu Dec 6 201202:50John Salmons posts 12 points, 7 assists
John Salmons had 12 points, a season-high seven assists and two 3-pointers on 4-of-7 shooting in Wednesday's win.
This comes on the heels of five straight single-digit games and we'll need to see more from Salmons going forward before buying into this one. And it's worth mentioning that Marcus Thornton played just 17 minutes and scored three points tonight.

Sun Nov 18 201221:04John Salmons quiet in start at SF for Kings
Starting at SF in place of James Johnson, John Salmons had two points and five rebounds in Sunday's loss to the visiting Nets.
Salmons logged 28 minutes, while Johnson had four points in 17 minutes off the bench. Keith Smart used 11 players and only two of them cracked 30 minutes, so there's no reason to recommend Salmons outside of deep leagues.

Sun Nov 18 201217:18John Salmons takes over as the starting SF
John Salmons will start at small forward for the Kings on Sunday.
He will take the place of James Johnson. Salmons has played in 23.7 minutes per game in his last three contests and joining the first unit puts him on the radar in some formats.

Wed Nov 7 201210:02John Salmons almost ready to get on court
John Salmons is almost ready to play in a game.
"I want to get him at least two or three (more) decent practices," Keith Smart said. Even if Salmons does wind up playing, it should be in a minimal role and he's not on the fantasy radar.

Tue Nov 6 201209:40John Salmons will continue sitting on bench
Keith Smart is in "no rush to get John Salmons on the court."
Salmons hasn't played a single second this season and is still focused on conditioning after being away for almost the entire preseason.

Sun Nov 4 201201:38Salmons joins Kings but isn't in uniform
John Salmons has rejoined the Kings, but he was not in uniform on Saturday.
Salmons appears to be a healthy DNP-CD as he continues to work himself into game shape. He has fallen hard after inking a five-year, $39 million deal in 2010, but unfortunately for the Kings he's still owed a guaranteed $7.6 million in 2013-14.

Fri Nov 2 201210:52John Salmons returns to Kings on Thursday
John Salmons returned to the Kings on Thursday after taking a personal leave of absence.
Salmons' wife had another baby, and because the birth was delayed, Salmons' schedule got pushed back. The swingman admitted there will be some rust, and he's expected to spend "a lot of time" with the strength and conditioning coach before playing in a game. He is unlikely to play over (at least) the next couple of games and has no business being owned in any format.

Wed Oct 31 201221:35John Salmons will return to team on Thursday
John Salmons (personal) will return to the Kings on Thursday.
His wife had a baby and he should be available for Sacramento's game on Friday. He'll have to earn his minutes and he's not on the fantasy radar right now.

Tue Oct 23 201208:44John Salmons return date up in the air
The Kings are uncertain when John Salmons (personal) will return to the team.
The Sacramento Bee writes that Salmons "will have to play his way into the rotation" when he does return. Excused from the club for personal reasons, Keith Smart offered a simple "no timetable" comment when asked about his availability.

Thu Oct 18 201209:50Salmons away from Kings for personal reasons
John Salmons is away from the Kings for personal reasons.
Salmons has missed the last two games and that's all the information we have right now. It doesn't sound like it will be an extended absence, so we're not overly concerned here. He'll likely settle into right around 20 minutes per game, but with his hip issues and muddled role, there is no reason to draft him outside of 30-team leagues, and he may even go undrafted there.

Fri Oct 5 201203:05Salmons runs with the starters on Thursday
John Salmons played with the starting unit at small forward in Thursday's practice.
Salmons will be given the benefit of the doubt as the starting small forward until somebody takes the job away from him. Francisco Garcia will be that guy if Salmons struggles and James Johnson isn't ready. He's dealing with hip issues and won't be slated for more than 20 minutes without showing some major spunk during the preseason.

Mon Oct 1 201220:48Salmons dealing with a hip injury, still
John Salmons admitted on Monday that he's still dealing with his hip injury from last season.
Salmons said that it took two months from the date of his injury in late March to be able to play again, and that he "may never be 100 percent." If he's not obviously limited in camp, he's our speculative favorite to start at small forward but it's not by much. Regardless, he figures to struggle with minutes, playing time, and effectiveness, and he's well off the fantasy radar in most formats.

Mon Apr 23 201210:53John Salmons not with Kings
John Salmons (hip) is not traveling with the Kings.
Salmons is almost certainly done for the season. He was relegated to a bench role mdiway through the season and will end up averaging just 7.5 points per game on 40.9 percent shooting. Salmons is due $8 million next season and his role will depend on the moves the Kings make this offseason.
