Kelly Johnson returned to the lineup with a bang Monday, going 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in a win over the Orioles.
Johnson has dealt with hamstring ailment for the better part of a week, and he was still noticeably gimpy Monday. But, it's clear that he can play with it as long as the injury isn't aggravated. The 30-year-old now has nine homers and 26 RBI this season.

Kelly Johnson (hamstring) received a cortisone injection Friday and will need at least one more day off.
Johnson originally was injured Tuesday before playing in the next two games. He sat out Saturday, though, and isn't in the lineup Sunday, either. MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm says there's "potential for more" than just the one more day of rest.

Fri May 4 201201:31Kelly Johnson reaches three times
Kelly Johnson went 2-for-3 with a walk as the Jays' leadoff hitter in a second straight game Thursday.
Johnson has always hit better as a leadoff man, and since manager John Farrell moved him into that spot Wednesday, he's gone 3-for-7 with a homer, two walks and three runs scored. It looks like he'll probably stay there for a bit.

Thu Mar 22 201215:43Kelly Johnson goes 3-for-4 for Blue Jays
Kelly Johnson went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI against the Phillies on Thursday.
The Jays had been batting Yunel Escobar first and Johnson second this spring, but the two were flip-flopped today. For what it's worth, Johnson has been a whole lot more productive hitting leadoff on his career. He's hit .263/.350/.477 in 927 at-bats there, compared to .236/.319/.410 in 893 at-bats as a No. 2 hitter.

Wed Mar 21 201211:03Johnson to bat second in Blue Jays' lineup
Kelly Johnson is slated to bat second in the Blue Jays' lineup this season.
Johnson batted sixth in 16 out of 32 starts after being acquired by the Blue Jays last August, but his fantasy value would get a nice little boost hitting in front of slugger Jose Bautista. The 30-year-old batted just .222/.304/.413 last season, but he still managed to collect 21 homers, 58 RBI and 16 stolen bases.

Thu Dec 8 201100:13Kelly Johnson takes Jays' arbitration offer
Kelly Johnson has accepted arbitration from the Blue Jays.
Johnson had a shot to net a multi-year deal on the free agent market, but he's decided to take the safe route and accept a sure raise from his $5.85 million salary from 2011. The 29-year-old batted .222/.304/.413 with 21 home runs, 58 RBI, 16 stolen bases and a .717 OPS over 613 plate appearances with the Diamondbacks and Blue Jays this past season. GM Alex Anthopoulos has indicated that even if Johnson accepted arbitration, he could still go after a second baseman since Johnson can also play the outfield. That seems unlikely, though.

Thu Dec 1 201116:01Blue Jays open to bringing back Kelly Johnson
According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Blue Jays remain open to bringing back free agent Kelly Johnson.
Johnson was offered arbitration by the Jays last week, so they are at least prepared for the possibility that he could accept. The 29-year-old second baseman earned $5.85 million this season while batting .222/.304/.413 with 21 home runs, 58 RBI, 16 stolen bases and a .717 OPS over 613 plate appearances. If he declines arbitration and signs elsewhere, the Blue Jays would net two picks in next year's First-Year Player Draft.

Thu Nov 24 201100:04Jays offer arb. to Kelly Johnson
The Blue Jays offered arbitration to Kelly Johnson.
Johnson posted a cool .270/.364/.417 slash line in 33 games after joining Toronto in a late-season trade. He's due a raise over the $5.85 million salary that he earned in 2011, but the Jays will pay it if he wants to return.

Fri Oct 14 201118:30Jays considering options with Johnson
Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com writes that the Blue Jays are expected to offer arbitration to free agent Kelly Johnson.
Johnson was able to finish an otherwise disappointing season hitting .270 with an on-base percentage of .364 in 33 games for Toronto. The offer would put Johnson in line for a raise over the $5.85 million he earned in 2011. As a Type-B free agent, he could net the Blue Jays a compensation pick in next year's First-Year Player Draft.

Mon Sep 19 201106:11Kelly Johnson's struggles continue
Kelly Johnson went hitless in three at-bats on Sunday, but did muster his 12th stolen base of the season.
Johnson's offensive numbers have been only marginally better since his August trade from Arizona to Toronto. Lately he has been significantly worse, with seven hits in his last 48 at-bats (.146). A free agent beginning next week, Johnson could be hard-pressed to duplicate his current $5.85 million salary in 2012.

Wed Aug 31 201121:42Kelly Johnson hits first homer as Blue Jay
Kelly Johnson went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in Toronto's 13-0 win over the Orioles on Wednesday.
He took Jo-Jo Reyes deep in the third. The home run was Johnson's first in seven games as a Blue Jay (oddly, he already has two triples). He was obviously a must add in AL-only leagues upon his arrival in the junior circuit, but it remains to be seen if he'll come back in to any value in shallower mixed leagues in his new home.
