C Kevan Smith (back) was put on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with what the club said was "sacroiliac joint dysfunction." He was replaced by C Hector Sanchez, who had his contract purchased from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. Smith, 26, was called up Sunday from Charlotte and was scratched Monday from his scheduled major-league debut because of back discomfort.
