Stoudemire (rest) did not practice Tuesday, Steve Popper of The Record reports. |
After starting at center and playing 24 minutes against the Bucks on Monday, Stoudemire received a scheduled day off. While the veteran won't be on a minutes restriction this season, he may continue to receive rest days as the regular season begins. |

Stoudemire enters this season without a minutes restriction and will only have scheduled "recovery days" to begin the upcoming campaign, ESPN New York reports. |
Stoudemire has been put under a minutes restriction for most of the past two season due to his balky knees, which also prevented him from playing in back-to-back games for much of last season. However, with a new Knicks' coaching staff, Stoudemire will not be subject to such limitations to begin this season. Rather, coach Derek Fisher said he's planned scheduled recovery days for Stoudemire to begin the campaign. While it's encouraging to know that Stoudemire's involvement will be uninhabited when he's available to play, it should still be worthwhile to monitor his role in the Knicks' rotation, as well as how his health holds up under new circumstances. |
Tue Oct 7 2014 | 13:32 | Stoudemire practiced in full Tuesday |
Stoudemire practiced in full Tuesday, Steve Popper of The Record reports. |
Stoudemire was held out of parts of Monday's practices as the Knicks continue to monitor his preseason workload. He appears to be on track to play in Wednesday's exhibition opener, but it's likely he won't see significant minutes. |
Mon Oct 6 2014 | 14:04 | Stoudemire limited in Monday's practice |
Stoudemire was limited in Monday's practice, Newsday's Al Iannazzone reports. |
He's not injured, this is strictly part of the Knicks' plan to keep Stoudemire as healthy as possible this season. |
Tue Sep 30 2014 | 13:00 | Stoudemire limited in Tuesday's practice |
Stoudemire was limited in Tuesday's practice, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports. |
While Stoudemire is not injured, the team is making a conscious effort to avoid overworking him in the early stages of camp. His knee troubles over the past few seasons have been well-publicized, but he played in 65 games last season - his most since 2010-11. The 31-year-old said he hopes to ply around 30 minutes this season, but the health of his knees will ultimately determine his role in the rotation, as well as his effectiveness. |
Tue Sep 30 2014 | 11:45 | Stoudemire hopes to play around 30 minutes per game this season |
Stoudemire hopes to play around 30 minutes per game this season, ESPN New York reports. |
Stoudemire enters training camp healthy for the first time in three years, an encouraging sign following a strong finish to last season. To that point, Stoudemire averaged 28.5 minutes over his last 20 games played, when he posted an understated 16.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Additionally, the former All Star started all 20 of those games, a span in which the Knicks went 14-6 down the stretch. As a result, Stoudemire could be a candidate to start this season, although new coach Derek Fisher will first need to decide how he wants to deploy Stoudemire and manage his minutes accordingly. |
Fri Sep 26 2014 | 16:57 | Stoudemire healthy and ready for training camp |
Stoudemire is healthy and ready for training camp, but the Knicks may limit his minutes in the future, Newsday reports. |
Stoudemire is well known for having problems with his knees, being held out of multiple games the past few seasons. Coach Derek Fisher acknowledged Friday that Stoudemire's knees will be an issue at some point in the season, so he plans on being proactive and possibly limiting Stoudemire's minutes in both training camp and practices during the season. Although he was held out of a few last year, he still played in 65 games, although he averaged near career lows of 11.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.6 blocks in 23 minutes per game. His fantasy output could be limited due to injuries and a decrease in minutes, but we'll have to wait and see how training camp goes to get a sense of how Stoudemire will be used this season. |
Tue Jul 8 2014 | 14:03 | Knicks speak to Sixers about Amare Stoudemire |
The Knicks have reportedly spoken to the Sixers about a trade for Amare Stoudemire. |
Knicks president Phil Jackson is trying to shed salary and trading Stoudemire would go a long way towards accomplishing that goal. The Sixers have about $30 million in cap space and have told teams that they'd be willing to accept a bad contract (like Stoudemire's) if they can get extra assets in return. The extra asset from the Knicks would presumably be Iman Shumpert of Tim Hardaway Jr., so we'll have to wait and if the Knicks are willing to part with either of their most desirable young players. |

Tue Jul 8 2014 | 11:57 | Confirmation of Knicks shopping STAT? |
Knicks president Phil Jackson has talked to multiple teams in recent days about moving Amare Stoudemire in a trade, according to ESPN NY. |
This is the second ESPN report of the Knicks looking to deal Stoudemire with Stephen A. Smith saying something similar on Monday. The Knicks are obviously trying to get Amare off their books so they can sign a second max guy with Carmelo Anthony. If the Knicks pull off a deal, they would have to trade a young player or draft pick. |

Mon Jul 7 2014 | 11:48 | 76ers have some interest in Amare Stoudemire |
The 76ers are interested in trading for Amare Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert, according to Stephen A. Smith of ESPN. |
If the Knicks can get Amare off their books, it would open up plenty of room to sign a free agent. Obviously, the Knicks will have to give up even more assets and it would be a bit shortsighted. STAT will be a free agent next season, so it would probably just behoove the Knicks to suck it up this season and try to make a splash in a solid 2015 free agent class. |

Amare Stoudemire will decline his early termination option, according to CSNNW.com. |
The news was to be expected for much of the season and obviously wasn't a concern for the Knicks. He will finish out the last year of his five-year, $100 million deal with the Knicks next season and is hoping to return to All-Star form under Derek Fisher. Despite a solid 2013-14, he's still to risky to target in fantasy leagues. |

Fri Jun 13 2014 | 10:52 | Amare Stoudmire expects big season with Fish |
Amare Stoudemire is expecting a return to All-Star form under Derek Fisher next season. |
"No doubt in my mind my goal is to get back to that level [of] just three short years ago,'' Stoudemire said. "For sure, my goal is to return to the All-Star Game and compete or a championship in the postseason.'' He also mentioned that the triangle offense is "the best situation for all of us" and called Phil Jackson a "liaison." STAT exceeded almost all expectations last year, but it would be a shock to see him in the All-Star Game. We're not too bullish on drafting him. |

Tue May 20 2014 | 09:28 | Amare Stoudemire headed to Israel? |
Amare Stoudemire said he'd consider playing in Israel when his current contract ends after next season. |
Stoudemire was originally asked if he would join a potential player strike if Donald Sterling isn't removed as an owner and then meandered over to playing in Israel, "I feel in a year my game will still let me play in the NBA, but it depends on how I personally feel. I might decide to play in Israel." Stoudemire contemplated playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv during the 2011 lockout due to his Jewish heritage and is a free agent after the 2014-15 season, so while this may not come to fruition, there are some puzzle pieces that could fit together here. |

Thu Apr 17 2014 | 00:09 | Amare Stoudemire plays in finale |
Amare Stoudemire played 20 minutes in Wednesday's finale against the Raptors, scoring eight points with five boards and one assist. |
It was a big positive to see him even suit up in both games of a back-to-back set and he finished this season quite well. Stoudemire only missed two games since Mar. 1 and they were as a precaution, so the Knicks managing his minutes earlier worked out nicely. He had very little fantasy value coming into the season, but this year will put him on the radar as a late-round pick next year. |

Tue Apr 15 2014 | 23:21 | Amare Stoudemire scores 14 in win |
Amare Stoudemire played 21 minutes on Tuesday and had 14 points, three rebounds and a block. |
Mike Woodson left it up to Amare as to whether he played or not tonight, and he looked pretty good at times. It would be a little surprising to see Stoudemire play in Wednesday's finale, although it's still possible. Either way, look for Cole Aldrich, who had 13 & 13 tonight, to play well again tomorrow. |

Tue Apr 15 2014 | 18:39 | Amare Stoudemire will start Tuesday's game |
Amare Stoudemire will start at PF vs. the Nets on Tuesday. |
He was a game-time decision but coach Mike Woodson said Amare would determine his own status, so apparently he felt good enough to play. Whether he suits up again on Wednesday is less certain, as is his long-term future in the NBA -- Amare said on Tuesday that he'll consider leaving to play for his team in Israel after the 2014-15 season. |

Tue Apr 15 2014 | 16:20 | Amare Stoudemire may leave to play in Israel |
Amare Stoudemire suggested that he might leave the NBA to play in Israel once his contract with the Knicks expires in 2015. |
Stoudemire is co-owner of Hopoel Jerusalem, a team which finished first in the Israeli league this summer. "We'll see,'' Stoudemire said. "You can't rule anything out. The future is unknown and so if I have an opportunity to [play in Israel] and am still in great health, it would be great." The very possibility of Amare heading to Israel will grab headlines but we won't read too much into this until the 2014-15 season begins winding down. |

Tue Apr 15 2014 | 11:19 | Amare Stoudemire a game-time call vs. Nets |
Amare Stoudemire joins the list of game-time decisions for Tuesday, as coach Mike Woodson says it's up to Amare as to whether or not he plays. |
And given that we all now know that if Stoudemire sits out, it's because he didn't want to play, we're guessing he'll suit up for at least a few minutes. But again, it's up to him. |

Fri Apr 11 2014 | 23:08 | Amare Stoudemire plays 40 minutes, scores 24 |
Amare Stoudemire played a season-high 40 minutes against the Raptors on Friday for 24 points, 11 boards and one block on 10-of-14 shooting. |
Is it 2008 or something? Stoudemire played more than 32 minutes just once this season and the Knicks let him loose in a must-win game. STAT has been very good since he rested on Mar. 31, averaging 16.3 points, 6.5 boards, 1.3 blocks and 0.3 steals on 65.8 percent shooting in his last four. The team should play him in all three of the final games this season, which makes him a nice start in standard formats. |
