Thu Oct 9 201420:48Infante may need offseason surgery to repair shoulder injury
Infante may need offseason surgery to repair a shoulder injury, the Kansas City Star reports.
The shoulder discomfort first popped up in spring training and lingered on and off, resulting in just a .623 OPS for the season, Infante's lowest mark since 2005. He recently admitted that he feels "a lot of pain" when he swings in batting practice, and his teammates skip him when the ball sails around the horn in the infield. Further, Infante went 0-for-11 during the ALDS, but he is not expected to lose playing time during the Championship Series.
Sat Aug 30 201416:52Omar Infante: (Shoulder) Starting Saturday
Infante (shoulder) will start Saturday's game against the Indians, Joel Goldberg of FOX Sports Kansas City reports.
After testing the sore shoulder that held him out the past four games, Infante is able to manage hitting at the very least. It's unclear if he'll assume DH duty or return to his typical spot at second base.
Tue Aug 26 201418:09Omar Infante: (Shoulder) To Miss Three Days
Infante has been dealing with shoulder inflammation and will miss the next three days, according to manager Ned Yost, AM 610's Josh Vernier reports.
Yost said Infante has been dealing with the inflammation for "two or three weeks," and given Infante's age (32 years old), it's not surprising the Royals will give him a few days to rest. Christian Colon will start at second base Tuesday.
Tue Aug 26 201414:50Infante not in starting lineup Tuesday
Infante is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Josh Vernier of Fox Sports KC reports.
With Infante on the bench, Christian Colon will start at second base, while shortstop Alcides Escobar will move up in the order to bat second for manager Ned Yost on Tuesday night.
Wed Aug 20 201404:05Infante had himself heck of day at plate in Tuesday's game again...
Infante had himself a heck of a day at the plate in Tuesday's game against the Rockies, as he went 4-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI and a run scored.
Prior to Tuesday's outburst, Infante had been mired in a 4-for-37 slump. So, maybe this game can get him going. His .258/.297/.361 slash line in 407 at-bats this year still leaves a lot to be desired.
Thu Aug 14 201410:56Infante out of lineup Thursday against Athletics
Infante is out of the lineup Thursday against the Athletics, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Infante hasn't had a day off since July 6, so a maintenance day was likely overdue. Despite four multi-hit games in August, he's still hitting just .229 on the month, and .260 on the season. He logged hit No. 100 in Wednesday's game, but will rest Thursday in favor of Christian Colon.
Thu Aug 14 201403:34Infante 2-3 with run and two RBI Wednesday in 3-0 win over A's
Infante went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI Wednesday in a 3-0 win over the A's.
Infante's long ball was all the offense the Royals would need behind a stellar performance from starting pitcher Jason Vargas. The 32-year-old was in a 1-for-16 slump before clutch performance Wednesday. He's hitting .260/.300/.362 on the year.
Fri Aug 8 201412:16Infante 1-5 with stolen base and run scored against D-backs on T...
Infante went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored against the D-backs on Thursday night.
Since the All-Star break, Infante has started every game for the Royals while locking into the No. 2 spot in the batting order. With that placement in the lineup, he should provide a few extra runs scored barring a change of heart from manager Ned Yost. Infante is hitting just .263/.303/.360 in the first season of a four-year, $28.25 million pact with the Royals.
Wed Jul 30 201423:48Omar Infante reaches four times in win
Omar Infante went 3-for-3 with a walk Wednesday in the Royals' 3-2 win over the Twins.
Infante was hot before the All-Star break, but he entered tonight in a 4-for-38 funk. For the year, he's batting a respectable .268. Incredibly, he leads the Royals in RBI with 49, even though he has just five homers and he served a DL stint earlier this year.

Fri Jul 4 201418:00Omar Infante scratched with back tightness
Omar Infante was scratched from Friday's lineup with back tightness.
It's worrisome given that he missed about three weeks of action back in May with the same injury. At this point, though, it's unclear how long Infante might be sidelined. Christian Colon is taking Infante's spot at second base.

Sat Jun 28 201400:05Infante mashes grand slam in 8-6 win over LAA
Omar Infante went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Friday's win against the Angels.
The slam was part of a seven-run third inning that the Royals put together against Matt Shoemaker and the Angels. It was just Infante's fifth home run of the season. While you shouldn't expect Infante to be hitting bombs left and right, he's been productive for a second baseman in the run production department, knocking in thirty-eight runs despite not really hitting for average (.247) or power (.362).

Wed Jun 18 201416:27Omar Infante homers in Royals' win
Omar Infante went 2-for-4 and homered as the Royals' leadoff man Wednesday in a 2-1 win over the Tigers.
Today's was a much different game after the Royals scored 11 runs both Monday and Tuesday, but it was a 10th straight win for the new AL Central leaders. They'll go for a four-game sweep in Detroit on Thursday. Infante has already doubled his season homer total from two to four in the series, and he's scored a run in seven of his last eight games.

Mon Jun 16 201423:55Omar Infante hits three-run homer in win
Omar Infante had a three-run homer and an RBI single in the Royals' 11-8 win over the Tigers on Monday.
It was an 11-2 drubbing until the ninth, when the Tigers suddenly made it interesting. The Royals had 17 hits in the game, and every starter besides Mike Moustakas had a hit and a run scored (Moustakas had neither). Infante's homer versus his former team was his third in 200 at-bats this season. He's batting just .249/.290/.353 this season, which is way down from last year's .318/.345/.450 line.

Omar Infante had a nice night at the plate in Friday's victory over the Royals, going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored.
He has seen his share of struggles this season, slashing .242/.287/.339 with two homers and 25 RBI through his first 186 at-bats. Hopefully for fantasy owners, this three-hit effort will finally get him going.

Omar Infante (back) is expected to be activated from the disabled list during the series against the Astros that begins on Monday.

Omar Infante (back) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Friday.
Infante has gone through workouts this week with no issues and is ready to try things out in game action. He shouldn't need too many rehab at-bats, so expect the Royals to activate their second baseman within the next few days. He's been out since early May.
