Sun Sep 5 2010 | 10:27 | Yi Jianlian's MRI comes back negative |
Yi Jianlian recently had an MRI on his injured Achilles tendon, which came back negative. |
The Achilles was "inflamed a little bit," according to China's coach, but Jianlian is expected to play vs. Lithuania on Tuesday. China advanced to the elimination round despite going 1-4 during group play. |

Mon Aug 23 2010 | 14:09 | Should Yi Jianlian take more 3-pointers? |
Yi Jianlian has taken far too many long jumpshots in his three-year NBA career, and Wizards writer Mike Prada argues that he should focus on 3-pointers. |
Prada isn't alone in that thinking, as trainer David Thorpe said "I think he should play a game like Rashard Lewis ... Shoot the three, play a shot fake and attack game and spread the floor. He should be really, really effective in transition with John Wall because Yi is unbelievably fast." We're skeptical, but this is something to keep an eye on throughout the preseason. |

Tue Aug 17 2010 | 09:18 | Yi working with Thorpe |
Yi Jianlian was trained by David Thorpe for five weeks at the Pro Training Center in Florida this summer. |
All accounts have Yi working extra hard this summer and gaining physicality. As beat writer Michael Lee notes, Joakim Noah and Corey Brewer had breakout seasons have training with Thorpe. But with the Wizards re-signing Josh Howard and Andray Blatche locked in at power forward, Yi's upside is likely capped. |

Fri Aug 6 2010 | 22:55 | Jianlian's improvement 'shocking' people |
Yi Jianlian has been "shocking" his trainers and team officials with his improvement this summer. |
While many summer puff pieces come fit for rose-colored glasses, this one has a bit more teeth, highlighting a new-found physicality and feel for the game. Regardless of how much he may or may not improve, though, playing behind Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee will limit his upside. |

Sat Jul 31 2010 | 12:13 | Yi Jianlian injured playing in China |
Yi Jianlian injured his arm during an international tournament in China, though the injury doesn't seem too serious. |
Jianlian will likely backup the Wizards frontcourt this season, a situation that won't improve his already-shaky fantasy value. We should have more details on the injury over the next few days. |

Fri Jul 9 2010 | 15:16 | Yi could play 3, 4, 5 for Wiz |
Wizards coach Flip Saunders feels that Yi Jianlian can play small forward, power forward, and even some center. |
We're not convinced that the inconsistent forward is quite so versatile, and Flip mentioned that he would like to see Yi be a more aggressive rebounder. There's a good chance that he'll wind up starting for the Wizards. |

Tue Jun 29 2010 | 12:56 | Report: Nets dump Yi Jianlian on the Wizards |
The Nets have traded Yi Jianlian to the Wizards in exchange for Quinton Ross. |
It's a straight salary cap dump for the Nets, who probably have no interest in playing Quinton Ross. The Nets now have exactly $30 million under the cap, enough to sign a max player for $16.5 million and another player for $13.5 million. A change of scenery should work well for Jianlian, who averaged a career-high 12.0 points and 7.2 rebounds a year ago. He has a chance to start if Mike Miller walks in free agency and Josh Howard (ACL surgery) doesn't return to Washington. |

Sun Apr 25 2010 | 10:31 | Yi Jianlian on the outside in New Jersey? |
The Nets may try to trade Yi Jianlian this summer now that Kiki Vandeweghe, one of his biggest supporters, will no longer be coaching the team. |
If they fail to find any suitable offers, they could simply de-emphasize his role in the rotation. That would be disastrous from a fantasy perspective, since he was barely worth owning even as a starter. |

Thu Apr 15 2010 | 00:07 | Yi finishes season with big line for Nets |
Yi Jianlian had 23 points 15 rebounds and two blocks in 49 minutes of Wednesday's double-overtime loss to the Heat. |
Yi definitely has potential and will probably be worth a late-round flier in next year's fantasy drafts. But his inconsistency thus far in his career is a major concern. |
Mon Apr 12 2010 | 22:48 | Yi posts 14 & 10 as Nets lose to Bobcats |
Yi Jianlian was effective in Monday's loss to the Bobcats, tallying 14 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, and zero turnovers in 36 minutes. |
Yi even made 6-of-8 field goals, a rarity for the career 40% shooter. He doesn't always seem committed to rebounding, and his jumpshot (particularly from 3-point range) is a work in progress. He'll remain an inconsistent fantasy player until those issues are resolved. |
Sat Apr 10 2010 | 00:13 | Yi double-doubles in win over Bulls |
Yi Jianlian double-doubled in Friday's double-overtime win over the Bulls, scoring 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting with 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocks in 40 minutes of action. |
By now you know the story with him, and this has been his first serviceable line since his 31-point explosion on Mar. 26 against the Pistons. The fact that there were an additional 10 minutes available for stat accumulation also knocks this line down a bit. |
