Sat Oct 29 202213:59Nolan Arenado Opting Into The Rest Of His Contract
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado has informed the team that he will opt into the remainder of his five-year, $144 million contract, according to a league source. Arenado was facing his second and final opt-out clause in the deal, and the Cardinals were optimistic throughout the 2022 season that the seven-time All-Star would choose to return. Since he was acquired by the Cardinals in a trade before the 2021 season, Arenado has made two All-Star teams and is in the running for his 10th straight Gold Glove. The 31-year-old slugger also has two straight seasons of 30-plus homers and 100 RBI and could also win his fifth Silver Slugger award. Arenado will remain a high-end fantasy third baseman heading into the 2023 season.

Wed Oct 26 202221:18Cardinals Planning On Nolan Arenado's Return
St. Louis Cardinals president John Mozeliak met with third baseman Nolan Arenado this week in California and the two had a discussion about the direction of the club. Mozeliak said he's "optimistic" of a positive resolution with Arenado in the near future, and it sounds as though the team is planning on him returning in 2023. The 31-year-old has an opt-out clause in his contract, but it sounds like he won't exercise it to become a free agent this winter. He has five years and $144 million remaining on his current eight-year, $260 million deal he inked in 2019. Arenado is a National League MVP candidate in 2022 after hitting .293/.358/.533 with an .891 OPS, 30 home runs, 103 RBI, 73 runs scored and five stolen bases in 148 games in his second year in St. Louis.

Tue Oct 4 202216:35Nolan Arenado Remains Sidelined Tuesday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (thigh) remains out of the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Arenado's injury isn't serious at all, but the Cardinals aren't pushing him in the last couple days of the regular season with the team already locked into a playoff spot in the wild-card series this weekend. It remains to be seen if the 31-year-old All-Star will play in Game 162 on Wednesday, but he'll almost certainly be ready for Friday's first playoff game. With Arenado out, rookie Juan Yepez is at the hot corner and is hitting sixth against Pirates right-hander JT Brubaker. Yepez has swung the bat well in 11 games since Sept. 21, going 10-for-35 (.286) with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored for the Cards.

Wed Sep 28 202218:30Nolan Arenado Getting The Day Off
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado will get the day off on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Arenado and a few others will take a seat a day after the team clinched the National League Central division on Tuesday. Rookie Juan Yepez will get the nod at the hot corner instead and will bat cleanup against Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff. Yepez has handled himself quite well in his first major-league season for the Cardinals and he's hit well in limited opportunities of late, going 7-for-18 (.389) with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored in six games in the last two weeks of play. He'll be a solid under-the-radar DFS play against Milwaukee.

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado went 1-for-4 with his fifth stolen base of the season and a strikeout in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the visiting Cincinnati Reds. The seven-time All-Star remains a must-start in all fantasy formats, but he hasn't been as hot so far in the month of September. In 12 games this month, he's gone 9-for-45 (.200) with a homer, seven RBI and five runs scored. The good news is that he's in the midst of a modest five-game hitting streak.

Sat Aug 27 202218:07Nolan Arenado Reinstated From Paternity List
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado has been reinstated from the Paternity List and is back in the lineup Saturday against Charlie Morton and the Atlanta Braves, hitting fourth and playing third base. Arenado missed the team's previous two games while being with his wife during the birth of their first child. The MVP candidate has been on a tear in the second half of the season, slashing .321/.380/.651 with eight homers over 121 plate appearances. Get him back in your lineups if you haven't already. Fri Aug 26 202216:45Nolan Arenado Placed On Paternity List
The St. Louis Cardinals placed third baseman Nolan Arenado on the paternity list on Friday and recalled infielder/outfielder Juan Yepez from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. The Cardinals also activated closer Ryan Helsley from the restricted list and optioned left-hander Packy Naughton to Memphis. Arenado didn't play on Thursday after leaving to be with his pregnant wife, so it's not a surprise he's on the paternity list a day later. He could miss the entire three-game series this weekend against the Atlanta Braves. Brendan Donovan is starting at third and hitting second on Friday against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. Donovan has very little power (two homers), but he's nearly hitting .300 with 34 RBI and 39 runs scored in 275 at-bats for the Cards this year.

Thu Aug 25 202213:33Nolan Arenado, Dylan Carlson Out Thursday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado and outfielder Dylan Carlson are out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Chicago Cubs. Arenado's wife is preparing to have their first child, so he's likely to land on the paternity list and could miss several more games. Carlson will start on the bench for the third straight game. It's possible that Arenado could miss the entire weekend series against the Atlanta Braves, so fantasy managers need to prepare accordingly. Tommy Edman is manning the hot corner and batting seventh, while Tyler O'Neill is playing center field and hitting sixth against Cubs right-hander Marcus Stroman. First baseman/designated hitter Albert Pujols is also out of the lineup for the series finale against Chicago.

Goldschmidt has been a National League MVP candidate this year and has homered in four straight games. In three games after the All-Star break, Arenado has gone 5-for-14 (.357) with three doubles and a run scored. Fantasy managers need to get both players back in their starting fantasy lineups on Friday.

Thu Jun 9 202211:09Nolan Arenado Back In There Against Rays
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (knee) is back in the starting lineup at third base and is batting third in the order against Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Shane McClanahan on Thursday. Arenado was held out on Wednesday due to knee soreness after he was hit by a pitch on Tuesday. Fantasy managers will want to get him back into their starting lineups in all leagues, as he's gone 8-for-28 (.286) with a homer and seven RBI in seven games over the last week. Overall, Arenado is hitting a strong .272/.344/.485 with an .829 OPS, 10 home runs, 39 RBI and 25 runs scored in 227 plate appearances over 54 games played. The matchup against Tampa's ace is a tough one, but Arenado is a must-start asset.

He remains a must-start when he's in the lineup. Rookie Brendan Donovan gets the start at the hot corner on Wednesday and will bat fifth against Rays right-hander Corey Kluber. The 25-year-old has just one homer in his first 98 big-league bats, but he's putting bat on ball and has a .306 average and .424 on-base percentage in 36 games.

Wed May 18 202219:54Nolan Arenado Cooling Off In May
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is batting just .207/.254/.448 with three home runs over 16 games in May after a blistering April in which he slashed .375/.444/.681 with five HR over 72 at-bats. Although Arenado's bat has cooled off significantly in May, he has managed to still drive in 12 runs this month, giving him 29 RBI for the season. He is tied for third on the N.L. RBI leaderboard with New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso heading into action on Wednesday. Despite his recent struggles, Arenado remains a must-start in all formats. As he has shown in May, Arenado can continue to put up excellent counting stats hitting in the middle of the Cardinals' lineup, even while he is slumping.

Sat Apr 30 202213:32Nolan Arenado To Serve Suspension On Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado won't be in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Instead, Arenado will miss this game and serve his one-game suspension. The 31-year-old has been hot at the plate recently, so hopefully the off day won't slow him down. Brendan Donovan will cover third base and bat eighth versus righty Merrill Kelly. Fantasy managers should expect Arenado to be back in the lineup for Sunday's contest.
