Thu Apr 28 202221:34Nolan Arenado Appeals Two-Game Suspension
St. Louis Cardinals' third baseman Nolan Arenado was in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks and is appealing his two-game suspension. He was suspended two games for his role in Wednesday's bench-clearing altercation with the New York Mets. The 31-year-old will remain in the lineup while he appeals his suspension. He is off to a great start in 2022, slashing .375/.452/.703 with five home runs, 17 RBI, and 11 runs scored over 17 games. Fantasy managers should continue to start Arenado while he remains in the Cardinals lineup.

Sat Apr 16 202210:08Nolan Arenado Belts Fourth Homer Of Season On Friday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado hit his fourth home run of the season Friday in the Cardinals' 10-1 win over the Brewers. Arenado went 2-for-3 with two walks, a two-run HR, three RBI, and two runs scored in the win. Arenado is off to an excellent start to the 2022 campaign. He is slashing .435/.500/1.087 with four HR, 12 RBI, three doubles, and seven runs scored over his first six games of the season (23 at-bats). Despite his move away from Coors Field ahead of the 2021 campaign, he remains a top-5 third base option in all fantasy formats.

Tue Mar 22 202216:34Nolan Arenado Hits His First Homer Of The Spring On Tuesday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado hit his first home run of the spring in Tuesday's Grapefruit League win over the Miami Marlins. It was a two-run shot in the fourth inning, giving Arenado a 1-for-2 performance and leaving him with a spring .286 batting average and even 1.000 OPS. It should be another excellent, productive season for one of the best third basemen in the league.

Wed Sep 22 202121:38Nolan Arenado Removed With Lower Back Tightness
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (back) has been removed from Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers due to lower back tightness. Paul DeJong entered the game in the fifth inning to replace him. Arenado fell down hard while making an over-the-shoulder catch in the game, but he stayed in after the play. It's unclear whether he sustained his injury during the play or not. We should know more about the severity of his injury after the game. Arenado was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI before leaving the game.

Thu Sep 16 202108:33Nolan Arenado Hits His 32nd Home Run
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado helped lead the team to an 11-4 victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday. He went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBI in the game. The home run was his 32nd of the year. Arenado is in the midst of a bit of a hot streak at the plate. He's riding a five-game hitting streak that has included three home runs, a triple and eight RBI. He's slashing .256/.311/.503 over 141 games on the year with 99 RBI and 72 runs to go along with his 32 home runs. We'll see if he's able to stay hot and close the year out strong.

Mon Sep 6 202112:58Nolan Arenado Gets Breather Monday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado will take a seat on the bench for Monday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to MLB.com. There are no injury concerns with the all-star, just a chance to give him some rest. Matt Carpenter will play third and bat fifth in his place. Arenado's in the midst of a bounce-back campaign in his first year with the Cardinals, hitting .257 with 29 HRs, 88 RBI, and 66 runs. He's no longer the slugger he was in Colorado, where he posted a .541 slugging across eight seasons, but he's still a good third base option in every format.

Thu Sep 2 202113:37Nolan Arenado Hits His 27th Home Run On Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Game 2 of the team's doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. The home run was his 27th of the year. The former Rockies star has had an underwhelming debut season with the Cardinals. He especially struggled in August, when he slashed just .212/.278/.433. While he should continue to be started in just about all fantasy leagues going forward, he's no longer the must-start, elite fantasy producer he once was. He's delivering a good amount of home runs and RBI (85), but they aren't what we've seen in previous years. Additionally, his .256 batting average on the year is well below his career .289 average.

Tue Aug 24 202108:29Nolan Arenado Struggling, But Racking Up RBI
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado has been struggling at the plate in August, but that hasn't stopped him from racking up some decent counting stats, particularly RBI. Through 19 games this month, Arenado is slashing just .208/.279/.455. He's struck out 11 times over his last 23 at-bats. However, he's managed to tally 18 RBI this month to go along with five home runs and nine runs. Arenado has 80 RBI on the season, which ranks 16th in the majors. That has been his best contribution to fantasy managers this year as his .257 batting average and 25 home runs are both well below where he has been in previous years. The move away from Coors and a notable talent decline have lessened Arenado's value in fantasy a good amount.

Sun Aug 15 202119:22Nolan Arenado Drives In Three Runs On Sunday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado drove in three runs in Sunday's win over the Kansas City Royals. Arenado went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI. He hit a two-run homer in the second inning and added a single later in the game. Arenado is hitting .265 with an .839 OPS and should continue to be an excellent source of run production for the rest of the season.

Thu Aug 12 202109:26Nolan Arenado Reaches Base Twice On Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in the team's 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. Arenado has had a decent first year with the Cardinals so far. Over 110 games, he's slashing .261/.319/.494 with 22 home runs, 68 RBI and 54 runs. His 13.4% strikeout rate ranks in the 95th percentile and he has a career-best average launch angle of 20.4 degrees. However, his xSLG (.429) is down a good amount from his prime years with the Colorado Rockies (.518 in 2017, .481 in 2019) and he's looking like more of a top-30 hitter rather than a top-10 or even top-20 hitter going forward.

Thu Aug 5 202107:35Nolan Arenado Homers And Doubles On Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado had a strong game at the plate in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves. He went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI. Through 104 games on the year, Arenado is slashing .264/.320/.503 with 21 home runs, 65 RBI and 51 runs. Many of his underlying power metrics are right on par with his prime years, including his 37.3% hard-hit rate and his 7.3% barrel rate. He also currently has a career-best 21.1 degree average launch angle. He's clearly suffering - as expected - from the move away from Coors Field. His 12.1% HR/FB rate is well below his career 15.5% clip.

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (arm) is considered day-to-day with a right forearm contusion, the team reported. Arenado left in the fifth inning of Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Indians after being hit by a Zach Plesac fastball. Hopefully, for fantasy managers, the 30-year-old infielder heals quickly since he is hitting .261/.318/.501 with 20 home runs, 61 RBI, and one stolen base in 99 games played so far this season. Utility infielder Edmundo Sosa entered Wednesday's game at third base in place of Arenado.

Fri Jul 23 202103:24Rays rally past Tribe after trading for slugger Nelson Cruz
CLEVELAND (AP) — Austin Meadows hit an RBI single in the 10th inning to cap Tampa Bay’s comeback in a 5-4 win over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night, hours after the Rays acquired slugger Nelson Cruz from Minnesota. Meadows’ one-out liner off Bryan Shaw (3-4) brought home Randy Arozarena, who began the 10th at second base. Down 4-2 in the ninth, the Rays rallied to tie it against closer James Karinchak on a leadoff homer by Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe’s two-out RBI double. Pete Fairbanks (3-3) pitched the ninth and Diego Castillo struck out Franmil Reyes and Bobby Bradley with the potential tying run at third in the 10th for his 14th save. The Rays announced their acquisition of Cruz just before the first pitch. Needing a big bat for the playoff push, Tampa Bay got a potent one from the disappointing Twins. Cruz has 436 career homers, and his presence alone will re-shape Tampa Bay’s lineup. Indians starter Cal Quantrill allowed just one run in six strong innings before turning it... [More]
