Mon Apr 10 202310:08Alek Thomas Logs RBI Single, Swipes Bag In Sunday's Win
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Alek Thomas went 1-for-5 with an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base in Sunday's 11-6 win over the Dodgers. With runners on first and second, Thomas laced a single off Michael Grove in the bottom of the third inning to give the Diamondbacks the 4-3 lead. The 22-year-old started the season hitless in the first 16 at-bats but went 5-for-9 with a triple, two RBI, and a stole base over the weekend series against Los Angeles. According to Baseball Savant, Thomas' expected batting average (xBA) of .342 is in the 96th percentile. Fantasy managers should look to add Thomas in all league formats while he's wielding a hot bat.

Mon Sep 26 202218:34Alek Thomas Sent To Triple-A, Jake McCarthy Reinstated
The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned rookie outfielder Alek Thomas to Triple-A Reno after Sunday's game and reinstated outfielder Jake McCarthy from the bereavement list in a corresponding move. In his first 113 big-league games, Thomas has struggled with the lumber, hitting .231/.275/.344 with eight home runs, 39 RBI, 45 runs scored, four stolen bases and 74 strikeouts in 381 at-bats. He's been especially bad this month, going 7-for-55 (.127) with no homers, four RBI and nine strikeouts in 18 games. McCarthy was unavailable last weekend but should return to the starting lineup for the start of a series on Tuesday against the Houston Astros. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter has hit a solid .288/.352/.446 with eight homers, 41 RBI, 49 runs and 19 stolen bases in 91 games in his second MLB season.

Wed Jun 29 202220:13Alek Thomas Struggling At The Plate
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Alek Thomas went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in Wednesday's 4-0 loss against the San Diego Padres. He's in the midst of a seven-game stretch in which he's slashed .125/.160/.250 with eight punchouts. Thomas is still having a decent rookie season, hitting .253 with six home runs, 16 RBI, 24 runs, and four stolen bases across 46 games. Fantasy managers in shallow leagues can lay off the 22-year-old, but those in deeper leagues who need some speed can take a shot.

Sun Jun 12 202211:38Alek Thomas Will Continue To See Regular At-Bats
Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Alek Thomas, one of the team's most well-regarded prospects, will continue to see regular at-bats, according to manager Torey Lovullo. Meanwhile, Daulton Varsho will play the outfield while getting only occasional starts behind the plate now that Carson Kelly is back from the injured list. Through 30 games entering Saturday, Thomas had held his own, posting a .760 OPS while playing good defense in center field. Varsho was the designated hitter on Saturday, but Lovullo is unsure who will play there when both Varsho and Thomas are in the outfield together. Finding regular at-bats for all six of the team's outfielders will be hard, and Varsho and Thomas figure to be the closest thing to everyday players among a group that also includes David Peralta, Pavin Smith, Jordan Luplow and Jake McCarthy.

Sun May 8 202212:28Diamondbacks Call Up Top Prospect Alek Thomas
The Arizona Diamondbacks called up top prospect outfielder Alek Thomas from Triple-A Reno on Sunday. He is slashing .277/.362/.495 with four home runs, 14 RBI, 19 runs scored, and three stolen bases over 24 games in Triple-A. The Diamondbacks' second-round pick in 2018 is expected to make his debut on Sunday. The 22-year-old is a mature hitter for his age and should provide fantasy managers power, some speed, and a strong average as long as he's in the big leagues. Thomas should be a priority to add in all league formats as the upside is there for one of Arizona's top prospects.

Wed Apr 13 202211:06Alek Thomas Off To Slow Start In Triple-A
Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Alek Thomas went 1-for-5 on Tuesday with a run scored and two strikeouts for the Triple-A Reno Aces. The Diamondbacks second round pick in 2018, Thomas has been off to a slow start to his 2022 campaign with a .222 batting average, one RBI and six strikeouts in his first six games. Despite the slow start, Thomas possesses plenty of talent due to his ability to make contact with the ball to go along with strong instincts on the basepaths. With the Diamondbacks unlikely to compete in a tough NL West division this season, it is likely that Thomas will make it to the show at some point in 2022. Managers that have the ability to stash prospects in redraft leagues should consider the left-handed hitter and those who don't should continue to monitor his situation moving forward.
