Olsen caught just two passes (on five targets) for 30 yards Sunday against the Ravens.
Olsen's Sunday output marked his fewest receptions, targets, and yards since Week 10 of last season. For a fantasy fixture that's normally as reliable as they come, Olsen simply wasn't involved Sunday as much as he normally is in the Panthers' offense. In a rebound attempt, Olsen will face his former team, the Bears, at home next weekend.

Olsen (calf) had five catches for 69 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in Sunday's 37-19 loss to the Steelers.
Olsen made a nice play at the beginning of the third quarter, taking an intermediate pass 37 yards for a touchdown to cut the Panthers' deficit to 10 points. As expected before the season, Olsen and rookie WR Kelvin Benjamin are the clear top options in Carolina's passing game, having accounted for 53 of the team's 109 targets through three weeks. Olsen has 26 of those, with 19 receptions for 224 yards and two touchdowns to show for it.

Olsen (calf) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
The Panthers' leader in targets this season with 19, Olsen is a steady security blanket for Cam Newton, especially since 10 of the tight end's 14 receptions have resulted in a first down.
Fri Sep 19 201414:18Olsen (calf) probable for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh
Olsen (calf) is probable for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh.
Olsen's health isn't an issue after practicing fully Thursday and Friday. He's one of the league's most valuable tight ends going into Week 3, as he has 19 targets already heading into his third game.
Thu Sep 18 201418:20Olsen (calf) practiced fully Thursday
Olsen (calf) practiced fully Thursday, the Panthers' official site reports.
With an uncapped practice under his belt, Olsen will presumably enter the weekend with probable status, which will be confirmed (or denied) by the release of Friday's injury report. Through two games, he's been targeted 19 times en route to 14 receptions for 155 yards and one touchdown.
Wed Sep 17 201420:58Olsen (calf) limited practice participant Wednesday
Olsen (calf) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, the Panthers' official site reports.
Olsen has posted relatively similar lines through two weeks, with 14 catches (on 19 targets) for 155 yards and one touchdown to date. Because he was able to fit in some drills Wednesday, he's likely building up to active status Sunday against the Steelers. However, keep a close eye on his activity level as the weekend draws near.

Olsen led the Panthers with six catches (on eight targets) for 72 yards in Sunday's win over the Lions.
Olsen was absent for part of this week while attending to a personal matter, but played without limitation Sunday, providing quarterback Cam Newton a reliable security blanket in Carolina's passing game. For the second straight game, Olsen lead the Panthers in receptions and also surpassed 70 yards for a consecutive outing. The veteran is a solid, yet unspectacular fantasy tight end whose value is about as steady as they come.
Sun Sep 14 201411:43Olsen (non-injury) active Sunday against Lions
Olsen (non-injury) is active Sunday against the Lions.
After tending to a personal matter during the week, Olsen is available as a safety valve for Cam Newton (ribs) in his season debut. In a full, 16-game slate last year, Olsen caught at least four balls on 13 occasions, racked up 40-plus receiving yards 11 times, and recorded six touchdown receptions.
Fri Sep 12 201416:40Olsen (non-injury) probable for Sunday's game against Detroit
Olsen (non-injury) is probable for Sunday's game against Detroit.
DeAndre Levy is one of the league's most dangerous linebackers in coverage, but aside from him there doesn't seem to be much personnel in the Detroit defense capable of shutting Olsen down. He's one of the nicer on-paper starts at tight end this week.
Fri Sep 12 201411:41Olsen participated in Friday's practice
Olsen participated in Friday's practice, Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Olsen left the team the day before to tend to a personal matter, but he was able to return Friday as expected. Olsen is healthy, and should be good to go for this week's game against the Lions.
Thu Sep 11 201416:09Greg Olsen: (Personal) Misses Thursday's Practice
Olsen left Thursday's practice in order to tend to a personal matter, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports. However, coach Ron Rivera expects Olsen to return in time for drills Friday, according to Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer.
Olsen's family life is more important than that on the field, so he may require more than one day to deal without the non-football concern. However, Rivera believes that the tight end will be available for Sunday's contest versus the Lions, which could be confirmed, if Olsen takes part in practice Friday.

Olsen caught a team-high eight passes (on 11 targets) for 83 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win at Tampa Bay.
Olsen led the Panthers in both catches and targets, providing a reliable security blanket for backup-turned-starting quarterback Derek Anderson. The tight end opened Carolina's scoring with a five-yard touchdown catch and could have had another score, if he didn't drop a would-be touchdown later in the game. Nonetheless, Olsen posted the kind of performance that has made him a steady fantasy option in recent seasons, with his touchdown putting his value over the top Sunday. He should maintain a consistent presence in the Panthers' offense with first-choice signal-caller Cam Newton (ribs) figuring to return next week versus Detroit.
Mon Sep 1 201412:56Olsen (personal) returned to practice Monday
Olsen (personal) returned to practice Monday, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
With Olsen, who was away from the team last week following his son's heart surgery, back at practice, the tight end appears on track to suit up for the Panthers' season opener against the Bucs on Sunday.
Wed Aug 27 201422:05Greg Olsen: (Personal) Will Not Play Thursday
Olsen (personal) will not play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Steelers, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Rather than travel with the team to Pittsburgh, Olsen will stay back in Charlotte to watch over his son's recovery from open-heart surgery. His son is reportedly doing well after undergoing the procedure earlier in the week, and if he continues to progress as expected, Olsen will rejoin the team next week and play in the regular-season opener against Tampa Bay. "A lot depends on his recovery status," Olsen said via text message Wednesday. "But he's doing well now, so hope that continues."

Olsen (calf) caught two passes for 21 yards on four targets in Friday's preseason game against the Patriots.
The Panthers have done nothing to quiet the questions about their receiving corps, as Kelvin Benjamin's strong preseason has been surrounded by a whole lot of nothing from the other wideouts. It increasingly seems that Benjamin and Olsen will devour a high percentage of the targets, but the Panthers don't project as a prolific passing team, and still figure to favor their four-headed running game near the goal line. As for the calf injury, Olsen appears to be fine.

Olsen (calf) is expected to play in Friday's preseason game versus the Patriots, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Olsen sat out last Sunday's exhibition outing with a slight calf ailment, but has since returned to practice and will play Friday. With the Panthers' starters expected to feature for the entire first half, Olsen should get plenty of work to prepare for Week 1.
Tue Aug 19 201416:41Olsen (calf) took part in Tuesday's practice
Olsen (calf) took part in Tuesday's practice, Steve Reed of the AP reports.
Olsen missed a preseason game and a couple days of practice with the calf injury, but his return to practice indicates his setback was only minor. Barring any setbacks Olsen should be good to go for Week 1.

Olsen (calf) did not play in Sunday's preseason game against the Chiefs.
The Panthers have given no indication that Olsen's injury will prevent him from playing Week 1, so it seems likely that they were just taking the cautious route by holding him out of Sunday's exhibition game.
Thu Aug 14 201416:30Olsen (calf) did not practice Thursday
Olsen (calf) did not practice Thursday.
The report suggests that Olsen -- who was kicked the calf in a recent practice -- was held out as a precaution Thursday, so it remains plausible that the tight end could still suit up for Sunday's preseason contest against the Chiefs.
Sun Jan 12 201416:32Greg Olsen held to 55 yards in playoff loss
Greg Olsen caught four passes for 55 yards in the Panthers' Divisional Round loss to the 49ers.
Olsen's big play occurred in the second quarter when he split San Francisco's safeties deep for a 35-yard completion. He was otherwise limited to chain-moving type gains. Olsen turns 29 in March and is owed $5.5 million in 2014. He'll surely return to Carolina as one of the team's only reliable pass catchers. For fantasy purposes, Olsen is a low-ceiling TE1.
