Tue Jul 23 201320:40Jacoby Jones to pass conditioning test 'soon'
Ravens coach John Harbaugh expects Jacoby Jones to begin practicing "soon."
Jones failed his pre-training camp conditioning test Monday and was placed on the active/NFI list. "I would be very surprised if he isn't [reinstated]," Harbaugh said. "He's really close."

Mon Jul 22 201318:41Jacoby Jones reports to Ravens out of shape
Jacoby Jones was placed on the active/NFI list to open Ravens camp because he failed his conditioning test.
After missing offseason workouts due to his Dancing with the Stars appearance, Jones reported out of shape. This may be the push GM Ozzie Newsome needs to acquire a real No. 2 wide receiver. Jones had been penciled in as the starter opposite Torrey Smith, briefly giving him some deep-sleeper fantasy appeal. Free agent receivers still out there include Austin Collie, Brandon Lloyd, Laurent Robinson, Randy Moss, Braylon Edwards, and Donald Jones.

Mon Jul 22 201317:39Ravens place Jacoby Jones on active/NFI
Ravens placed WR Jacoby Jones on the active/NFI list.
The reasons for Jones' placement on the non-football injury list are unclear. Jones could be nursing a yet-to-be-disclosed injury, or he simply could have failed his pre-training camp conditioning test. Jones is penciled in incredibly lightly as the Ravens' No. 2 wide receiver. We suspect GM Ozzie Newsome will ultimately go get someone else before the season begins.

Wed Jul 10 201313:42John Harbs: Some FAs the Ravens still love
Coach John Harbaugh says there are still some free agents the Ravens are "in love with."
"There are still players who are out there unsigned, and we're in love with, so personnel-wise, yeah," were Harbaugh's exact words. This is pure speculation, but it stands to reason Harbaugh could be talking about a receiver or two, as it strains credulity that the Ravens will go into the season with Jacoby Jones as their No. 2 wideout. Brandon Lloyd, Laurent Robinson, Randy Moss and Braylon Edwards are the biggest names in a mostly barren receiver market.

Thu Jun 13 201308:38WR coach: Jacoby is a starter right now
Wide receivers coach Jim Hostler said Wednesday that Jacoby Jones is a starter "right now."
As an elder statesman, Jones will enter camp as the No. 2 wideout opposite Torrey Smith. We're not convinced he'll hold the job. Tommy Streeter and Tandon Doss are both legit threats to steal snaps. David Reed, Deonte Thompson, LaQuan Williams and rookie Aaron Mellette will also be given opportunities. "All of those guys are battling for that second, third and fourth spot," Hostler said. "And it's all real close."

Sat Jun 1 201311:28WR Jones early favorite to start
Ravens WR Jacoby Jones is the early favorite to start opposite Torrey Smith.
Jones has always been billed as a high-potential player with starting ability, but has never shown consistency on the field. 2010 was his best season, amassing 526 yards and 3 touchdowns in seven starts. Despite starting 10 games the following year, his production dropped across the board. Jones will see more targets this season, but he's best suited as a No. 3 receiver and return specialist.

Mon May 6 201323:09Ravens 'excited' about Jacoby Jones as a WR
Ravens assistant GM Eric DeCosta said the team is "very excited" about Jacoby Jones as a receiver this season.
"We're very excited about Jacoby and the progress he made throughout last season," DeCosta said. "We think we've got some very good young players that can step up and contribute. Deonte Thompson isn't a heralded name, but a guy we think is going to be a good player. We're excited about Tandon Doss. David Reed has had a lot of injuries. He's flashed in practice and made plays." Add Tommy Streeter to the list of young Baltimore receivers who could see a bigger role in 2013. DeCosta also wouldn't rule out the Ravens signing a veteran receiver.

Wed Mar 20 201308:14Jacoby Jones had a minor knee cleanup
Ravens KR/WR Jacoby Jones underwent a cleanup procedure on his knee following the Super Bowl.
The surgery was so minor that he's already back competing on Dancing with the Stars. He did miss some rehearsal time with dance partner Karina Smifnoff, which apparently was a big deal in the celebrity gossip world. Jones, currently penciled in as the Ravens' No. 2 receiver, will be fine for the offseason program.

Sat Mar 16 201316:45Ravens pay Jacoby Jones his $1M bonus
The Ravens paid KR/WR Jacoby Jones his $1 million roster bonus on Saturday.
Jones was safe after the Ravens traded Anquan Boldin away, but this assures him of his roster spot. An All-Pro return man last season, Jones may be asked to take on a bigger role on offense in 2013. As it stands right now, he's Baltimore's No. 2 receiver. Tandon Doss and Tommy Streeter are other in-house receivers.

The Ravens value Jones' dynamic return skills highly, and they may need him for a bigger 2013 offensive role after trading Anquan Boldin. Jones turns 29 in July. He caught 30 passes for 406 yards and a touchdown last season.

Thu Feb 7 201308:16Jacoby Jones in line for an extension?
The Baltimore Sun reiterates that KR/WR Jacoby Jones is a candidate for a contract extension.
Jones is owed a $1 million roster bonus on March 16 and $3 million in base salary next season. With the Ravens desperate to maneuver some cap space, they could extend the length of his deal while decreasing his 2013 cap number. Although Jones says he "wants to retire" with Baltimore, he'll carry significant leverage into any negotiations following his Sports Illustrated cover-worthy performance in Super Bowl XLVII.

Sun Feb 3 201323:58Jacoby Jones impact contributor in SB47 win
Jacoby Jones caught just one pass in Super Bowl 47, but it went for a 56-yard touchdown and he added 233 all-purpose return yards in the Ravens' win.
Jones gave Baltimore explosive plays just before each of its first two possessions, returning an Andy Lee punt 17 yards and a David Akers kickoff 30 yards. On perhaps the game's most momentous play, Jones ran by 49ers LCB Chris Culliver on a double move to secure a 56-yard bomb before crazy-legsing his way into the end zone with just under two minutes left in the first half. Jones broke open the scoring at 28-6 by tying a Super Bowl record with a 108-yard kickoff return touchdown to start the second half. Jones' kick return touchdown was the first in a Super Bowl since Devin Hester's in 2006. He had a very strong argument for Super Bowl MVP, but Joe Flacco got the nod.

Sat Feb 2 201319:18Ravens considering extension for Jacoby Jones
The Ravens are considering a contract extension for Jacoby Jones this offseason.
Jones has a $4 million base salary in 2013 and the Ravens are looking to lower his cap figure by spreading the money out with a long-term deal. The Baltimore Sun also considers Terrell Suggs and DT Haloti Ngata as potential candidates to restructure their deals.

Thu Jan 31 201309:08Jacoby Jones nearly signed with the Panthers
Jacoby Jones revealed that he was "set" to sign with the Panthers as a free agent last offseason before the Ravens lured him away.
Jones ended up signing a two-year, $7 million deal in Baltimore, citing the "family feel" in the locker room as the deciding factor. He also didn't see himself getting a shot at the No. 2 wideout role in Carolina. "They were kind of decided on Brandon LaFell," Jones said. The Ravens' primary return man has chipped in on offense during this playoff run with four catches -- including the game-tying 70-yard bomb during the comeback Divisional Round win in Denver.

Sat Jan 12 201322:20Jacoby Jones makes play of the game
Jacoby Jones made the play of the game in Baltimore's double overtime, 38-35 upset of the Broncos in the Divisional Round, hauling in a 70-yard touchdown with just 0:31 remaining in regulation to tie the game 35-35.
The grab was just one of two for Jones on the game, and came only moments after he helped kill what could have been the Ravens' final drive with a drop on third down. If the Ravens get Houston in next Sunday's AFC Championship Game, Jones could get revenge on a team that released him in May.

Fri Nov 30 201219:10Jacoby Jones probable for Week 13
Although Jacoby Jones (ankle) missed his third straight practice on Friday, he's listed as probable for Week 13.
Apparently Jones really needed some rest. If you've been starting him in leagues with return yardage, there's apparently no reason not to trot him out against the Steelers.
