Fri Jul 6 2012 | 16:58 | Ravens DE Suggs: 'You will see me this year' |
Terrell Suggs said on NFL Live Friday that his rehab from a torn Achilles' tendon is going "great" and guaranteed that he will be playing football at some point in 2012. |
"It's going great, man," said Suggs. "I'm in good spirits. I like the progress that I'm making. I came out of the boot last week. So I'm just walking right now, doing muscle strengthening trying to get the muscle back strong. And I like where I'm at right now, loving the process." Suggs pointed out that he's received treatment from "the best foot doctor in the world" (Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte," and promised, "Y'all will see me play this year." |

Sat Jun 23 2012 | 11:10 | Terrell Suggs backs off November claim |
Terrell Suggs (Achilles' surgery) has backed off his claim that November is the "latest" he'll return. |
"I'm very optimistic (but) I'm not going to give no timetable (like) I'm going to be ready by this point (or) I'm going to be ready by that point," Suggs said in a Thursday T.V. interview. "No, I'm not going to say that. But I will tell you that I will be playing in 2012." If Suggs manages to take the field this season, it will likely be too late to make a meaningful impact in IDP leagues. |

Terrell Suggs (Achilles' surgery) has shed his crutches. |
Suggs posted on his Facebook page that he was "beasting." Suggs' rehab is still in the embryonic stages, but there's yet to be anything to suggest he has no shot at taking the field in 2012. The odds are against him, however. |

Fri Jun 8 2012 | 14:50 | Ravens will pay Terrell Suggs in full |
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti confirmed Friday that Terrell Suggs will be paid in full for 2012 despite his non-football Achilles' tear. |
It's believed Suggs tore the Achilles' playing basketball. Bisciotti deemed speculation that the Ravens might not pay Suggs fully "nonsense." The Ravens say they are not concerned whatsoever with how the injury occurred. The organization is holding out hope that Suggs will return to contribute late this season. |

Tue Jun 5 2012 | 20:34 | Report: Suggs hurt playing basketball |
ESPN's Adam Schefter is again reporting that Terrell Suggs tore his Achilles playing basketball. |
Schefter confirmed his story through multiple sources who were present at the time of Suggs' injury in a late-April basketball tournament, but Suggs has flatly denied the report. "Simply not true. I hurt myself doing my conditioning test." It's significant because if Suggs hurt himself playing basketball, the Ravens could place him on the non-football injury list and withhold some of his salary. There has been no indication the Ravens are planning to play that kind of hardball with their superstar pass-rusher, however. |

Mon Jun 4 2012 | 19:48 | Suggs claims he'll be back in November |
Terrell Suggs (Achilles' surgery) claims that the "latest" he'll be back is late November. |
Almost one month removed from surgery, Suggs was in high spirits Monday. "I'm going to shock a lot of people when I'm coming out of that tunnel," he said. Suggs said he's currently in a boot and is scheduled to start walking next week. His optimism is nice, but it doesn't change the fact that this injury usually cripples an entire season for players. |

Thu May 31 2012 | 09:49 | Ravens hope Suggs can return in reduced role |
According to SI's Don Banks, the Ravens are "holding out hope" that Terrell Suggs (Achilles' surgery) can contribute as a situational pass rusher late this season. |
Per Banks, Suggs would ideally return in a "reduced role," playing "only on passing downs" after opening the season on PUP. The Ravens could also opt against activating Suggs if Paul Kruger emerges as a viable rush linebacker with Courtney Upshaw at SAM. The odds are against Suggs making a 2012 impact. |

Sat May 26 2012 | 21:10 | Suggs (Achilles) to begin rehab next month |
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that Terrell Suggs (Achilles' surgery) will likely begin rehabbing next month. |
''The rehab doesn't start until all that healing takes place,'' Harbaugh said. ''He is going to have a doctor's appointment the first week of the minicamp. Then, he is going to come up here, and then we'll start to rehab at that point.'' The Ravens have not provided an exact timetable for Suggs, but the reigning Defensive Player of the Year still hopes to make a return by November. Suggs is expected to miss at least the first six weeks, and quite possibly the entire season. |

Sat May 19 2012 | 11:48 | 'No indication' Ravens will send Suggs to NFI |
According to the Baltimore Sun, there's been "no indication" the Ravens will place DE/OLB Terrell Suggs (Achilles' surgery) on the non-football injury list as opposed to the PUP list. |
Suggs' injury occurred during an unsupervised personal workout, so the Ravens could place him on the NFI list and withhold some of his salary. Beat writer Jeff Zrebiec believes the Ravens would be loath to disrespect the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year in such a manner, however, and we agree. Regardless of which list he's placed on, Suggs will miss at least the first six weeks of the season, and quite possibly all 17. |

Sun May 13 2012 | 13:43 | Ravens doctors believe Suggs can play in 2012 |
Coach John Harbaugh insists the Ravens' doctors believe DE/OLB Terrell Suggs (Achilles' surgery) has a chance to play in 2012. |
The recovery timeline is four to six months, giving Suggs a chance to play as early as September (unrealistic) to as late as November. "It's just going to depend on the injury, the healing process and his effort and his work," Harbaugh said. Suggs will almost certainly open the season on PUP, and the Ravens will monitor his rehab from there. The best news is that his Achilles' was only partially torn. Suggs does have an outside chance to play this season. |

Wed May 9 2012 | 10:03 | Suggs: Achilles was only partially torn |
Updating a previous item, Terrell Suggs now insists his surgically repaired Achilles was only partially torn. |
The Carroll County Times confirms Suggs' assessment. The injury was "not as bad as some thought it was," said Suggs, who still believes he can return to the field in 4-6 months. "I'm 29 years old. I don't miss games," Suggs added. "I'll be returning soon." The most likely goal will be a return following the Ravens Week 8 bye for the Nov. 4 game against the Browns. |

Wed May 9 2012 | 08:53 | Doctors disagreed on Suggs' Achilles |
The two doctors who diagnosed Terrell Suggs in advance of Tuesday's surgery disagreed on whether the Achilles was fully or partially torn. |
One doctor diagnosed a partial tear while the other had it fully torn. The Ravens have yet to clarify the extent of the damage. A November return is still the best-case scenario, though any contribution the Ravens receive from Suggs in 2012 is a bonus. |

Tue May 8 2012 | 20:43 | Terrell Suggs undergoes successful surgery |
"All indications" are that Revens RE/OLB Terrell Suggs' Tuesday Achilles' surgery "went well." |
However, the Ravens have yet to issue a recovery timeline for their All-Pro pass rusher. Suggs reportedly believes he'll be "playing football in November," but it remains a very real possibility that he misses all of 2012. No 35 pick Courtney Upshaw is tentatively expected to pick up the bulk of Suggs' lost snaps. |

According to SI's Peter King, Ravens RE/OLB Terrell Suggs (Achilles) "thinks he'll be playing football in November." |
It's notable only in that Suggs said last week he thought he might be back by October. The reality is, a firm timetable for Suggs' return won't exist until after he undergoes surgery on Tuesday. He's all but certain to begin the year on the PUP list. King believes No. 35 pick Courtney Upshaw will pick up the bulk of Suggs' lost snaps. |

Thu May 3 2012 | 10:51 | Ravens hope Suggs' Achilles not fully torn |
According to the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens' "hope" is that RE/OLB Terrell Suggs' Achilles' is not fully torn. |
A full tear would require year-ending surgery. GM Ozzie Newsome revealed that the injury occurred on Saturday, just one day after Baltimore traded back and still landed Courtney Upshaw on the draft's second day. Suggs will meet with foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson on Tuesday. Because the injury happened before camp, Suggs will be eligible to open the season on the PUP list. |

Thu May 3 2012 | 10:31 | Terrell Suggs could return in October? |
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Ravens RE Terrell Suggs "thinks" he could return from his torn Achilles' in October. |
It's awfully wishful thinking, and a risk the Ravens might not be willing to take. Setbacks from Achilles' tears can be career enders. Per Schefter, it's now unclear whether Suggs suffered the injury during a conditioning test or while playing basketball. Either way, don't expect to see him in 2012. |

Thu May 3 2012 | 09:49 | Report: Reigning DPOY Suggs tears Achilles' |
105.7 The Fan in Baltimore reports that Ravens RE Terrell Suggs is out for the 2012 season with a torn Achilles' tendon. |
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed the news and reported that Suggs tore the Achilles' playing basketball. He'll have surgery "next week sometime." Suggs could open the season on PUP, but the Ravens wouldn't be smart to rush him back from this injury. The Achilles' tear helps explain the Ravens' use of the 35th overall pick on Courtney Upshaw. They'll also need Paul Kruger, Pernell McPhee, and perhaps Sergio Kindle to step up. Suggs is coming off his best NFL season with career highs in sacks (14) and forced fumbles (7). No defensive player in the league was more dominant down the 2011 stretch, and Suggs was rewarded with 2011 Defensive Player of the Year honors. The injury is a crushing blow to Baltimore's defense. |

Thu Feb 2 2012 | 08:56 | Newsome: Suggs was double teamed down stretch |
Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome explained that double teams played a role in RE Terrell Suggs' diminished production down the stretch. |
Suggs only had one sack in the Ravens' final five games, including the playoffs. "As far as Suggs ... we saw people starting to do some things to scheme," Newsome said. "[They] were using tight ends or chipping him as they go out." Suggs could benefit from pass-rushing upgrades opposite him. Aging LE Cory Redding and SLB Jarret Johnson are both free agents. |
