Sat Aug 24 201321:57Brian Hartline goes for 40 yards Sat. night
Brian Hartline caught four passes for 40 yards in the Dolphins' fourth preseason game Saturday night.
Miami's overpaid possession receiver has five grabs for 49 yards through four exhibition contests. Hartline's fantasy value is fleeting at best following the Mike Wallace acquisition. We wouldn't deem Hartline to have enough upside to be worth even a late-round fantasy pick. Aim higher.

Thu Mar 7 201309:02Brian Hartline deal not quite done yet
The player rep for free agent Brian Hartline said the deal with the Dolphins isn't done quite yet.
Drew Rosenhaus took to the radio on Thursday morning to stir the pot. "If it doesnt happen with Dolphins, he'll get a lucrative deal w another team very quickly," the super-agent said. From the looks of things, there are just a few details to be ironed out. An official announcement on the deal is still expected before free agency opens on Tuesday.

Wed Mar 6 201313:46Hartline's deal to approach $7M annually
The Dolphins' contract with free agent Brian Hartline is expected to pay him "just under" $7 million a year.
It's a pricey sum for an average, No. 2-caliber receiver, but Miami is loaded with salary cap space and Hartline otherwise would've hit the market as a top-five or six wideout. An announcement of the deal appears to be imminent.

Tue Mar 5 201310:40Report: Dolphins near deal w/ Brian Hartline
A source tells FOX Sports that the Dolphins are close to finalizing a contract with free agent WR Brian Hartline.
The multi-year deal would reportedly be worth between $6M and $6.5M annually, a high number for a middling No. 2 wideout. It wouldn't prevent the weapon-needy Dolphins from going after free agents Mike Wallace or Greg Jennings next week. Hartline is coming off a career-high 1,083-yard season, but has posted a total of six touchdowns in his four NFL seasons.

Mon Mar 4 201312:25'Both sides' optimistic about Hartline deal
The Miami Herald reports free agent Brian Hartline wants to remain in Miami, and that "both sides" believe a deal can be reached before the start of free agency.
However, Hartline apparently isn't backing off his demand of $6 million per season, a price the Dolphins have thus far been unwilling to meet. The sides sound close enough to work out a deal before next Tuesday, but GM Jeff Ireland has been taking an "our price" approach with his in-house free agents. If he's unwilling to bend, Hartline will be gone.

Thu Feb 21 201315:40Hartline would take $18M over 3 seasons?
The Miami Herald suggests free agent Brian Hartline would be willing to accept a three-year deal averaging $6 million annually, or "maybe less."
Three years would take Hartline through his age-29 season, allowing him to reenter the free agent market at 30. It'd make sense for the player. $6 million annually is also a reasonable cost for a receiver lacking a high ceiling, but possessing a solid "floor." The Dolphins are more than capable of paying it.

Thu Feb 14 201309:50Rosenhaus: No serious talks on Hartline yet
The player rep for free agent WR Brian Hartline said that contract talks with the Dolphins haven't begun in earnest yet.
Drew Rosenhaus confirmed that there's a "mutual interest" on both sides, but said a deal isn't really close. That could change next week when the NFL world gathers in Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine. Bringing back Hartline shouldn't stop the Dolphins from going after one of the premier free-agent wideouts available.

Sun Feb 10 201318:24Dolphins not making progress with Hartline
As of last week, the Dolphins were making "no significant progress" in contract talks with free agent Brian Hartline.
It's still early in the re-signing process, but at the same time fair to wonder if Hartline's price tag is out of Miami's target range. It's believed Hartline wants roughly $33 million over five seasons, indicating he's pinpointed Laurent Robinson's five-year, $32.5 million contract as a negotiating baseline.

Sun Feb 10 201308:41Hartline seeking Laurent Robinson money?
The Miami Herald said in December that impending free agent Brian Hartline is likely seeking Laurent Robinson money.
Robinson signed a five-year, $32.5 million deal with the Jaguars last offseason after he busted out in Dallas as the No. 3 receiver in 2011. That averages out to $6.5 million per year, and it's been said Hartline is seeking upwards of $6 million annually. Beat writer Armando Salguero says he may not get that from the Dolphins, but it wouldn't be out of the question if he hits the open market. Miami wants Hartline back, but at a reasonable price.

Sun Feb 3 201312:54Lions could target Hartline in free agency?
DetroitLions.com mentions Brian Hartline as someone who could be a target of the team in free agency.
Hartline seems to be one of the few Dolphins' free agents that the team has actually shown interest in re-signing, so he's not guaranteed to hit the market. But, he would be a nice addition on the outside opposite Calvin Johnson, and would be a massive upgrade on the late-season Kris Durham. Nate Burleson, Ryan Broyles, and Mike Thomas are better suited for the slot, and Titus Young is likely on the outs. Hartline is said to be seeking $6 million annually.

Tue Jan 29 201323:42Report: Brian Hartline aiming for $6 million
A "friend" tells the Miami Herald free agent Brian Hartline hopes to earn an annual $6 million with his new contract.
The Herald had previously reported Hartline was seeking $5-$6 million. It's not an unreasonable request for a 26-year-old receiver coming off his first 1,000-yard season, but would make Hartline one of the higher paid No. 2/3 receivers in the league. That assumes he either gets away from Miami or the Dolphins sign a true No. 1 wideout. With the Dolphins so thin at receiver, retaining Hartline will likely be a priority.

Fri Jan 25 201313:13Brian Hartline expected to seek $5-6M a year
Free agent Brian Hartline is expected to seek a contract paying him $5-6 million annually this offseason.
Jordy Nelson, the receiver to whom Hartline was optimistically compared entering the 2012 season, only makes $3.5 million annually. The Dolphins want to re-sign Hartline for 2013, but it doesn't sound like they'll get a hometown discount. Hartline is coming off career highs in catches (74) and yards (1,083).

Sun Jan 20 201316:11Dolphins need explosive playmakers
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross told the Miami Herald that he "knows" the Fins must add playmakers on offense this offseason.
"We'll see what's out there," said Ross, whose Dolphins are armed with as much salary cap space as any team in football. "We know we have to become more explosive." The Dolphins would like to have free agent Brian Hartline back, ideally as a No. 2 receiver. Mike Wallace, Dwayne Bowe, and Greg Jennings should all be on Ross' radar as potential No. 1s.

Mon Dec 31 201216:53Hartline wants to return to Dolphins
Impending free agent Brian Hartline said after Sunday's regular season finale loss to New England that he wants to return to the Dolphins in 2013.
Hartline also "made it clear" that he's happy with the relationship he and rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill formed. The 26-year-old receiver set career-highs in catches (74) and yards (1,083) but only found the end zone once. With Miami set to have upwards of $46 million in cap space this offseason, Hartline will be looking to pocket some of it. The Fins will be in a world of trouble if he enters as the No. 1 receiver again next year, though.

Sun Dec 30 201220:06Hartline goes for 69 yards in Week 17
Brian Hartline caught five balls for 69 yards in the Dolphins' Week 17 loss to the Patriots.
Hartline finishes his semi-breakout season with career bests in receptions (74) and yards (1,083), with one touchdown. He has just six career touchdowns in 60 career games. While impending free agent Hartline should be a priority for Miami to retain as a No. 2 receiver, he's not qualified to be a true No. 1. Hartline lacks elite separation skills and physicality. He is a solid possession receiver who runs crisp routes.

Wed Dec 26 201217:19Brian Hartline practicing in full
Brian Hartline (back) is practicing in full this week.
Hartline struggled in Sunday's win over the Bills, catching just two balls for 12 yards. Though it's clear Hartline will play in Week 17, it's tough to trust him as anything more than a desperation WR3.

Sun Dec 23 201212:47Brian Hartline active for Dolphins
Brian Hartline (back) is active for Sunday's Week 16 game against the Bills.
Hartline will be the Dolphins' clear No. 1 wideout with Davone Bess (back) inactive, but he's operating at less than 100 percent and will matched up with Bills' red-hot shadow corner. Stephon Gilmore. The last time these two met, Hartline managed a mere 4/49/0 line. He's nothing more than a WR4.

Sun Dec 23 201210:00Hartline expected to play on Sunday
The Palm Beach Post's Ben Volin believes Brian Hartline (back, questionable) will play on Sunday against the Bills.
Hartline was limited in practice on Wednesday and Friday but did not participate on Thursday. With Davone Bess (back) already ruled out, Miami certainly needs Hartline to play this week. Hartline checks in as Rotoworld's No. 41 receiver for Week 16.
