Wed Feb 13 201313:37Canty 'continuing to explore his options'
The Titans made a contract offer to free agent DT Chris Canty during his visit, but he's "continuing to explore his options."
Canty visited the Chiefs on Monday. Per USA Today's Mike Garafolo, Canty has no other scheduled visits "at this point." The fact that Canty is "continuing to explore his options" is a strong indication the Titans' offer was of the "team friendly" variety. Canty is still likely to have a new home by the end of the week.

Mon Feb 11 201313:40Free agent Canty visits Titans; Chiefs next
Free agent DT Chris Canty visited the Titans over the weekend and also is scheduled to meet with the Chiefs soon.
They are the first known free-agent visits of the 2013 offseason. Canty, 30, has experience at both 4-3 defensive tackle and 3-4 defensive end, the latter from his time in Dallas. He was an interior pass rusher and plugger with the Giants. Because Canty has already been released, he's free to sign anywhere immediately. Free agents with expiring contracts must wait until March 12.

Injury-prone Canty, 30, has two years left on his deal, and he's due a base of $6.25 million in 2013. The Giants have Linval Joseph, Markus Kuhn, and Marvin Austin as young interior linemen.

Sat Oct 20 201216:08Giants activate DT Canty from PUP on Saturday
Giants activated DT Chris Canty (knee surgery) from the PUP list.
Canty missed eight months after undergoing a "clean-up procedure" in February after the Super Bowl. His activation comes at a good time. Canty will likely play in a rotational, limited role initially as the Giants attempt to shut down Alfred Morris and Robert Griffin III in the Redskins' zone-running scheme. Fellow DT Rocky Bernard is out for Sunday's game with a quadriceps injury. RB Da'Rel Scott was sent to injured reserve in order to make room for Canty.

Giants DT Chris Canty's (knee, PUP) teammates believe he'll be activated before Sunday's game and play against the Redskins.
Canty by all accounts has recovered from his offseason knee surgery, and the G-Men could use his run-stopping prowess as they attempt to blow up Washington's zone-run game. Canty would likely work in as a rotational defender initially.

Tue Aug 14 201220:38Chris Canty without a timetable for return
Giants DT Chris Canty (knee surgery) remains without a timetable for a return, but says his knee feels better than it did late last season.
Canty didn't miss a game in 2011. "It's just a matter of making sure that we're smart, so that moving forward, everything will be fine," Canty said. "We'll have no setbacks; we won't have any kind of lingering issues." Canty is on the camp/PUP list, so he remains a candidate to begin the year on reserve/PUP. With the Giants dealing with a rash of injuries along their defensive line, however, Canty could be back at practice sooner rather than later.

Sat Jul 28 201212:28Chris Canty has 'no timetable' for return
Giants DT Chris Canty (knee surgery) admitted Saturday he has "no timetable" for coming off the active/PUP list, and didn't guarantee he'd be ready for Week 1.
Canty had previously projected optimism that his post-Super Bowl "clean-up procedure" wouldn't sideline him for camp. It now sounds like he's questionable to play in preseason games. It would obviously be preferable for Canty to get on the field during New York's exhibitions, but not a must for the eight-year veteran to be ready for Week 1.

"I think I'll be ready to go (for camp)," Canty said. "There's no swelling in my knee or anything like that. There's nothing inhibiting me right now. I feel good." Even if the Giants' top defensive tackle isn't ready for day one of camp, he appears likely to avoid the reserve/PUP.
